Because this will definitely be my new go-to butcher shop…read more --- --- --- I've been to all of the butcher shops within about 20 minutes of my house, but none of them were all that impressive. Fortunately, Stone Cold Meats recently took over this space, and I was really excited to check them out because their other locations were highly rated. And it turns out: I see why. I came here to stock up on Super Bowl food: steaks, burgers, sausage and some sides. Almost all of it was a home run. Or, a touchdown, I guess I should say. I ordered 3 bone-in ribeyes and they turned out to be really great. I was a little concerned because they were not nearly as pricey as they are at some nicer butcher shops, but my concerns were unfounded. Great steaks, great prices. I also ordered some brisket mac-n-cheese, two different kinds of potato salad, some brisket burgers and some sausage stuffed with mac-n-cheese. The potato salads and sausage were a big hit. The burgers and mac were just okay. But that's okay because the important stuff was awesome. When I purchased my stuff, the woman asked me if I wanted to sign up for their rewards program. Normally I hate giving my information out, but I was happy to do it in this case. Apparently, you can get some really good deals once you earn enough points. I foresee a future with many points earned.

For my birthday I asked for a Prime rib roast. The buying experience at the store (in Conroe) was so much better than other options in the area that it's almost not a fair fight. The butcher was super friendly, listened closely to what I wanted, and gave me multiple choices. He brought out two entire rib racks, trimmed them down in front of us, and gave us a choice of which one, and which end. After enduring the barely helpful butchers at larger stores, this was like a breath of fresh air. The piece we chose was exactly what we wanted, and when it was finally time to eat we were blown away. The texture and the flavor of the meat was better than anything we've ever had, comparable only to the finest steakhouses like Vic & Anthony's or Pappas Brothers. It was amazing. See the last two pictures, below. To say that SCM will be our butchers from now on is an understatement. For a little extra you not only get better meat than elsewhere, you get a truly fun and engaging shopping experience. Last Review (October 2024) This is my favorite new store of any kind in the entire county. The assortment and quality of meats is amazing, but I most appreciated the owner's knowledge and enthusiasm, and especially his willingness to spend time discussing his various products and his favorite way to cook them. We've been back several times since our first visit last week and their mild Italian sausage that we cooked this week (with peppers and onions) was truly outstanding. Then we tried their brisket burgers and THEY were amazing! This is a very welcome addition to the area and we'll be regulars.

The chicken breast was very fresh and very superior to what I have purchased at any local grocery store. The service was great and the individual who helped us was very knowledgeable. Every item you purchased is shrink wrapped so it can go directly into the freezer. The prices are reasonable and we will definitely be purchasing from Ainsworth Meats again!

Problem is they don't sell in store made authentic salsas for them. That is where La Michoacana comes to the rescue with their wonderful assortment of fresh made salsas. They sell about 6-7 kinds plus a container of spicy red onion/raw veggies pickled up Mexican style. Only problem the cashier lady told me one of the salsa's was really mild. Well it wasn't and my hubby ended up not being able to have salsa on his tamales. Hence the 4stars for the review! The fresh and marinated meat department is 5 Star! It takes up the entire back side the grocery store. It's also very organized and the gentleman spoke English :)! Much of the marinated meats are also cut up in the marinade ready for grilling/barbecuing. They have a smaller bakery section where prices fluctuate on whether they or Arandas Bakery has better pricing. Their Tres Leches cakes don't look made on location either. Great pricing on veggies. Plus everything looked fresh! Good sized poblano peppers. They have the typical taqueria section section to get a quick snack or meal like their other grocery stores around the Greater Houston Metropolitan area! They are re-doing the ladies restroom so you'll have to use the men's restroom for now if Mother Nature is calling. I'll be back and Reccomend this place :).

The milk doesn't stay fresh nearly as long as the raw milk I get from other places in the area and the eggs are comparable to the cheapest eggs at the grocery store, nowhere near the quality you would expect from a farm. They do have the cheapest prices in town but you seem to get what you pay for.

I saw a young lady sweeping in the produce area & asked if the bakery took orders. There wasn't a counter to speak to anyone just someone working behind the glass bakery cases. The girl went speak to someone whittles her it was too late to place an order today.I explained to her I only wanted to ask some questions and shared that I had driven over an hour to arrive. She returned to speak to the lady back there. The girl returned and said something about her being busy. I figured she might come out but stood there waiting and nothing. If she's there why couldn't come out to speak to a customer? I thought about asking for the manager but frankly I was annoyed by the poor service. I arrived about 5:15 and left at 5:20 today, March 17, 2026. Will never step foot inside this store ever again. I will drive into Houston & visit the one off Wayside or Crosstimbers where they have always had outstanding customer service.
