I filed 3 years of taxes at h&R block in the Warwick Mall. Gabriella petruck filed my taxes. She didn't tell me what I was being charged before she filed my taxes like the website says she didn't tell me what I was being charged after I filed my taxes. She didn't give me a receipt stating what I was charged. I didn't find out what I was charged until I came home and called the 1-800 number and asked and then I was informed that I was charged almost $1,000 to file 3 years of tax returns. She then called me and tried to tell me she charged me half of what she charged me and when I stated I now knew what she charged me and that it was double that and when I asked for an itemized receipt she told me she had to speak to her supervisor and never called me back. Then I looked through my paperwork and she didn't give me copies of my tax returns for two of the years that I filed. I filed a complaint and the office manager Louis Marandola called me and was extremely rude to me when she went over my charges and it came out to $200 less for only one of the years that I filed she kept arguing with me and stated that I wouldn't get a refund then tried to tell me that the next year I was charged $40 more because the price had gone up in 5 minutes. They put some peace of mind insurance on there that I never asked for and said that I had purchased it when I didn't even know what it was. When I asked to speak to Lois marandola's supervisor she gave me the supervisor's name but would not give me her phone number and would not spell the name for me and then hung up on me. I am still in the process of resolving this I still haven't gotten a refund for being overcharged I still haven't gotten copies of my tax returns and I'm still being treated poorly by h&R block in Warwick. I will never go to h&R block again and anyone that reads this you should never go to h&R block in Warwick their service is horrible and their business practices are criminal. read more

I had a question bc of a sale of a home. My taxes were done by a private CPA and what I owed seemed to be high. I called these people to ask how it's taxed and if they said something different I'd have the filed with H&R Block. So the man who called me got angry that I hadn't used them and began to berate me on the phone. I didn't even get the chance to say I was considering having them redo them. Don't go here. read more

Do not use this location and based off this experience with reaching out to several locations, being told I'm lying, getting laughed at, hung up on and berated, I'm starting to think it may be a mistake to use them at all. Ken was the first person to handle our information . Very quickly it became apparent that Ken either lost the folder of paperwork we handed to him or he's that incompetent and shouldn't be handling anyone's taxes. Gabby was the second person to touch it and she had to file 3 times to get them to accept the return. Got a call saying our taxes were done and to come get the transcripts to mail to the IRS. Picked up paperwork and mailed only to find out that that returned was rejected. After weeks of back and forth we went back to the office in Warwick mall and asked for the most senior person (because we were told that branch has no management) enters Lois, the self proclaimed manager of that office. She give us her word, to trust her and that she will get this handled. Lois is a cancer to your organization, she's unprofessional, abrasive and insulting. On top of that she's a liar. Told me all our paperwork was stored in a locked file cabinet at a separate location. She assured us that our paperwork was safe. Here we are, end of June and nothing has been filed. No state, no federal no nothing. They took $600 and now are refusing to give us our paperwork and our money back. I've contacted corporate 22 times and have several open tickets and haven't gotten one call back. So now we're talking with the attorney general and the IRS and need another cpa to file for us but don't have our paperwork to do so. So we have to track all that info down now. We even reached out Sandra mattia who is the district manager and has been with the company for 40 years. Still no help, you'd think someone that's been with the company that long and has the title of DM would want to know that a location has taken payment and done nothing. Ken, gabby and Lois shouldn't be doing people's taxes. It's too important and they're literally playing with peoples lives. Sandra I'm really disappointed in the fact that I had to search for your contact info. Not one location would give me an email or anything. Your LinkedIn messages are blocked unless I want to pay to send you a message. I had to beg and plead with corporate to get a number for you and you haven't returned any calls. That brings me to my other point, I called 3 separate branches and was met with sarcasm, laughter and told I was lying. Specifically your Pawtucket location. Whoever the mush mouth is that talks with a bag of marshmallows in his mouth at the Pawtucket office is a real winner AG,BBB, local news and my attorney all responded faster than you. Someone with a GM role should do better. Update: finally after a full day of chasing down Lois we were given a time to come in and get our paperwork. The five folders as well as all the documents were nowhere to be seen. She handed my wife a stapled packet of papers printed off the computer with the information WE uploaded to their portal. So our W2s, bank statements, receipts, medical bills and every other thing that had our personal information, social security numbers, addresses etc is floating around because of H&R Block's incompetence and lackadaisical staff. read more

Avoid Gabriel and the whole office. My federal return was rejected on 4/29, but they never contacted me until I found it out by myself on 5/4. I called twice, they never call me back. Instead, they refiled the return without seeking my approval, and now my federal return changed from over $200 to me owing over $100 (a decline of $300). My state return also declined by a similar amount. Refiling return without my approval is illegal, but they offer no refunds. In addition, when I was there in the beginning, they gave me a price quote of about $180. When they finished the return, they told me I needed to pay over $300. I cannot believe H$R block allows this kind of misconduct to exist and do nothing about the preparer Gabriel. I will try my best to tell others my experience and do everything I can to defend my interests. This is unacceptable, illegal, and ridiculous. read more

Stopped at H and R block to make an appointment and staff was very rude. The woman at the front desk was nice but when I asked for an estimate she went to get someone else to help me. Im not sure if he was an accountant or what but he made very rude remarks including " oh i know the drill go shop around maybe you can find somewhere to do it for ten bucks less." And some other comments that should have been kept to him self. If it hadn't been for his remarks I would have left with an appointment but for this reason I will not be using H and R block to do my taxes. read more

When did H & R Block become such an expensive ripoff? I used to pay about $175 for a somewhat complicated return. Now lately my situation has gotten simpler but they are charging me $360!! To top it off they made a mistake and I had to go back for them to correct it. I even had to point out where the mistake was because they couldn't figure it out. I went in specifically for the loan advance feature. I asked all the questions on how it worked and was lead to believe that I should have no problem getting the full loan of 3k since I was getting well over that but wouldn't know until the end. I made it VERY clear this was the ONLY reason I was coming here and again was led to believe it should be fine. So I went ahead and started to process when we got to fees I hesitated a little as it cost over 300 to file and all I had was one w-2 and child tax credit (pretty simple return I do online every year). They tell me that they don't know how much the loan will be and neither will I until I file. I figure I should be fine to get the full 3k as I'm getting double that back. So I bite the bullet reluctantly. Only to find out 5 min later I was only approved for a loaof 500!!! I go back and they there's nothing they can do. I call the debit card company same response. I call cusmoer service equally useless except they mention that if you're not happy with your return the service is free and I should talk to the office. So I go back to the manager with a glimmer of hope only to shrugged off and told it's too late it's been sent there a nothing they can do. She actually said "o can't get shoes from Nordstrom and just complain because it's not what I wanted" and I said a" yea you can actually return them". She just responded with " unfortunately our hands are tied" at which point I walked out to stop myself from causing a scene. I will NEVER use h&r block to do my taxes. I have never been so unhappy with a company or felt do taken advantage of before. They clearly don't care about their clients! read more
