Who's sick, hobbies, new vehicles, etc. For someone that sees us only once a year she sure adds a personal touch that, to me, shows she cares. Gibbs has always been accommodating. Whenever we've need to change an appointment, they've been able to make the change quickly. We've never had an issue with them. He had actually done my taxes before when I was just a kid, but they were part of my father's tax returns, and he didn't charge my father for my piddley returns then. My tax returns have since gotten much more complicated, and Mr. Cain has been a wealth of information on how to conduct my business accounting, how to fix my accounting mistakes, how to not get audited, and he is very blunt about what is acceptable and what is not acceptable to count as business expenses. If you need an accountant who will be there for you (albeit takes a while to get back to you), is super generous with his time and advice (which is why I'm happy to wait to hear back from him), and will tell you like it is, instead of what you want to hear, then he's the accountant for you. As a side note, I live in Chicago, my business is in Chicago, and I still find it worth my time and money to drive to Rockford to see Mr. Cain for advice.

After the passing of Tom's business partner this company has fallen apart. I have been a client at dp accounting for many years, many people I know and have referred there in the passed had good experiences up until 3yrs ago. One yr (2017) I received a late tax form after fieling. I contacted Tom and explained the situation to witch he responded no problem bring it down and I'll fix it. He said if there are any changes to your return I will let you know. Well about 8mo later the IRS let me know. I had to pay them somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,400. Tom had never resubmitted my taxs like he said he would. I attempted to call and left multiple messages and never recieved a call back from tom. I drove to his office multiple times even taping hand written notes to his door to call me and he never did. Fast forward a few mo to the next tax yr (2018) I go back because I have been a long time customer and understand mistake do happen and maybe he was out of town during me tring to get ahold of him I'm not sure. So I mistakenly give him the benefit of the doubt. I thought things went good until I pulled out my 2018 return last week to bring with me to do 2019 and after looking over 2018's return I noticed that Tom had once agin made an error. I have two w2s and tom had only entered in one of them. Although he did manage to staple both of them to my return just forgot to enter one. So I go see him last week on 1/30/2020 He admits he made a mistake agin apologized and said he would take care of it at no charge and asked if I could come back in an hr however I was leaving town. When I got back in town 5 days later on 2/4/2020 I called but there was no answer. I drove down to his office and was greeted by a young lady after she had closed his door and asked if she could help me. I asked to speak with Tom to witch she replied Tom is on break right now I can have him call you later. Wasn't happy about it but left my number. I called back a couple hrs later around 2:30 and Tom answered the phone but couldn't answer my question of if he got my taxs done. Said he would call me back later, I asked him what time i can expect a call back by and he said 7:00. Well Tom being the guy he is doesn't call me back at all that afternoon. The next morning I drove down to his office once again only this time the door to get in is locked. I knock on the door and am greeted by a very hostile Tom and am able to get my forums back for this yr witch he had done nothing with for the 5days he had them and now I can go find an actual tax professional that will treat his clients with some respect.
