In FY18 we purchased an investment property, and BP Woodward again prepared our tax return - however this time an invoice was received that represented a 140% increase on prior years. On questioning the amount, the accountant advised that it was because of complexity around shares (which we also had in prior years) and the introduction of the investment property. It's disappointing it was only after all of the work had been completed that the accountant advised of the significantly increased cost (and only by sending us an invoice for the work). I would advise make sure that you align on exactly how much each piece of work will cost prior to allowing the accountant to commence any work.
