Not sure why this is confusing. As an accountant, Joe should have taken responsibility for interpreting client‑provided data correctly. Instead he calculated the income incorrectly then blamed me. This seems to be a low‑cost, high‑volume operation where work feels rushed, quality suffers, and service is mediocre at best. It appears Joe relies heavily on tech to move quickly, which is fine with me, but when questioned, it seems he has no time to dig into the numbers to address the questions (never explained the discrepancy in the depreciation schedule). Warning I would not use this company if they were the last company on Earth! Their office is a…read moretotal mess they have about six people touching your books and one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing they never return phone calls they never respond to emails or acknowledge that they received emails. Your books go through new employees every week. it's revolving doors around there no communication and they totally screw up your books they cost me probably 25,000 or more on their mistakes IRS gave me a civil penalty of $20,000 because they did not match up my 2019 taxes when they did them I had a different accounting in 2019 who did the books correctly and the w-2s and 940 matched however, James rideouts office when they actually did the taxes screwed it up by not matching the other accountants correct information when he filed my 2019 taxes and caused the IRS to give me a civil penalty of $20,000. They have not fixed this error or bothered to look into it even though they sat on it for a month when I gave it to them it's still not fixed and I am making payments on it whereas James Rideout CPA should be making the payments! Then when Aaron was doing my books and did a pretty good job left the next five people that touch my books not one of them ever paid my dor taxes (department of revenue) so now I owe about $40,000 there. For whatever reason they decided to pay workers compensation on regular hours but did not bother to pay workers compensation on overtime or mechanics time that was another $5,000 that I had to pay. They deleted some of my active customers for whatever reason and of course they never asked me! A matter of fact I always wonder why they never ask me any questions on my books because they just don't care! I could put a $50,000 deposit in and they never asked me what it is for. They said I did not have to file 1099s which is incorrect. They are so lost and confused in that office they said that they put on my records on a thumb drive and put it in the mail so I waited for about a month and still never got it they are only a block and a half away from me they could have called and I would have picked it up but no instead it got lost in the shuffle finally the receptionist got tired of hearing from me went and dug it out from underneath the stack of paperwork on Anthony's desk and finally put it in the mail to me instead of calling me again! So they took a generous amount of money out of my checking account every month to pay for their services that they were not providing when I finally left and went to my first accountant she said that my books hadn't even been reconciled for months but yet somehow they print a profit and loss sheet and a balance sheet and send it to me occasionally at the end of the month which in no way possible can it be correct when they haven't balanced the books! I believe they should be paying me $30,000 back for their mistakes!!! I would not touch this place with a 10-foot pole. It is revolving doors around there maybe two people have stayed on board but from what I can tell every month if not every week somebody else is doing my books and I have run into formal employees that also agree that places a mess and nobody knows what's going on around there. I have had three of their old employees contact me wanting to do my books saying that now they can focus on them and do them right and said that James rideout CPA's office is a disaster! Beware, they will try to roll all the blame on you instead of taking their own responsibility for all of their mistakes! They will flat out lie to you and try to turn it around to blame you. If you confront them about how horrible they are they just drop you as a client move on to somebody else and rip them off! My first rough quote by a free tax preparer was $9,000 more than what Ivy prepared. She went through even possible way I could save on my taxes, she worked for me, not the IRS. Her office is centrally located, but you can also do your taxes remotely, which my sister has done since she moved to Orlando, then VA, then back to Orlando. I can't say enough about how wonderful Ivy was. She was calm and not critical of everything presented. My last tax CPA was curt, even accusing me of using my children's 529 when all he had to do was ask and I showed him receipts for UCF and study abroad, because I could not claim her, as she had aged out, he assumed she didn't exist. Ivy is always professional and her calming presence put me immediately at ease.
