I called Mr. Baker to set up a tax consultation appointment, to help plan for my next year's taxes…read more He was incredibly rude to me on the phone - after I explained what I needed, he scoffed and said "I can't help you, you'll need to call back after tax season." He made a brief apology for being rude, and then I could hardly even get out an "ok" before he hung up on me. Listen, I get it - tax season is a busy time for a CPA. We're all human and we get stressed. However, in my mind that is no excuse to be so dismissive toward a potential client. Hire an assistant to answer phones, offer to take my name and number, or at least just don't be so condescending in your tone. In the 20 seconds I was on the phone with him he left a horrible impression. I can understand how other reviewers felt his demeanor was abrasive. Given this terrible first experience I will never use Baker CPA.

Completed the Contact Us form at Gilman & Co, CPA this morning and received a call from "Chad"…read moreusing Schmidt Arlen's phone number about an hour later. After referencing my contact form submission, but before asking what services, etc. I was inquiring about, Chad accused me of hacking or stealing his company's email (what?) and other absolute nonsense. Confused why Schmidt Arlen is returning calls for Gilman & Co and alarmed that Chad is calling folks who fill out their contact form of criminal behavior without any justification, I called the main line for Gilman & Co to describe this disturbing, upsetting, and offensive call with whomever Chad's supervisor is. I spoke with their customer service agent (who was very, very nice and understanding) and learned that "Chad Gilman" is one of two business owners (the other being "Lori Gilman") of both Gilman & Co and Schmidt Arlen. Since Chad doesn't have a supervisor to hold him accountable for his inappropriate and offensive behavior, I have posted this review so that you know what you might expect when you contact either of these firms.

I'm not even sure where to start with this business and its very poor customer service…read more First, I want to say I find it highly unprofessional this company put my personal business out there on the web. I will be contacting a lawyer to speak with them about the ramifications from you doing so. Second, you never contacted me when you made the decision to no longer work with us. You act like we're not allowed to amend or change anything with our taxes if we made a mistake or misspoke. You stated our taxes would be completed on 6/10/22 and when we contacted you on 6/13/22 you had every excuse in the world for why yet again our taxes weren't done. I have email proof that we asked you week after week when our taxes would be done and we continued to get excuses. From your computer broke, to your on vacation and then the "next week" excuse kept happening, week in and week out. To any future clients, be very careful when choosing this business! She literally got all my information for my business and myself and then decided to never file my taxes because I made one mistake when speaking about child day care? Very odd. I am dealing with a family matter as my Dad is in the hospital with stage 4 cancer. However, that has nothing to do with my taxes getting completed. This CPA could have dealt with this in a more professional manner instead of getting flustered and quitting the job that was to be completed in a timely manner.
