To validate his identity, my dad sent over a copy of his driver's license. They said, "No, he has to show up in person to verify his identity." Does HR Block require you to show up to their business to verify your identity? Does Turbo Tax require you to show up to their business to verify your identity? The answer is simple: NO! You verify your identity with your driver's license or passport and/or SSN and/or address and they will send you your information. Additionally, they decided to inform other people in the family that my dad was trying to access his OWN information. If that's not a violation of his own privacy, then I don't know what is. My dad doesn't have a handler and he is capable enough to handle his own personal information. If I wanted my own information and someone says, "Hold on, I have to tell this other person first before I can give you your information", would you not question them and say to yourself why someone else needs to be notified before you can acquire your own information? DEFINITELY. Furthermore, on a completely different situation, I called them because they were my parents' tax advisors. I called them to ask for clarification regarding tax implications about a specific situation because my parents are older and didn't fully understand what they had been told. So I called to gather further details and confirm if what was told to my parents' was accurate. The gentleman who answered the phone call responded to me in a very rude tone, "I already told your parents this, why are they having you call again? I already told your mom several times, so I don't understand why they keep asking about it?" As a client (now previous client), you would not expect a PROFESSIONAL to speak to you in that harsh and rude tone. But that was my continued negative experience with TBS Bookkeeping and Income Tax. Never again will I have my parents come here to file their taxes with them nor would I EVER recommend them to anyone. Please go find someone or a business that knows how to handle personal information properly and if you request your own information, that they don't go telling other people you're trying to obtain your own information. Also, find a place with better customer service and who doesn't speak to you in an egregious fashion.

They have professional software that lets them do S-corp, C-corp, and estate returns. I am actually seriously considering doing my 2023 estate return (2022 was filed jointly) here. 2. If you speak Spanish, you will find lots of employees there that can converse fluently in your native language. Whether you speak Spanish or English, there is a lot of emphasis on making the complexity of taxes easy to understand for customers. 3. The owner is an Enrolled Agent (now a requirement to be a EA or tax attorney to start a Liberty franchise in WA, CPAs must use their own names in the name of the business, in Washington state.) 4. As a locally-owned franchisee, they honestly do their best to please their customers. (see below) 5. The office is very neat and organized. My employment experience was mostly positive here as an experienced preparer. Even when I was promoted to bookkeeper, I also continued some more complex returns, quarterly excise tax returns for customers, and we also tried out various other products to determine if they were a good fit for the customers and therefore the business. (Hence the extra 0.5...that I am not adding on here since it does not relate to any info that would be that useful for other customers. For long-time customers, the owner truly does go up and beyond normal expectations.) Pro-tip: If you have anything more than a simple return, a very simple business return, or a return with earned income credit (yes, EIC credit returns cost more because there are more forms and special requirements), your best bet may be to drop off your return with the office during business hours. (These usually take more than 4 hours of staff time, and sometimes up to 40, to complete.) The Enrolled Agent in the office is booked during 99% of office hours: if you want to book an appointment with her, please schedule a minimum of 2 weeks in advance.

Something told me to wait until the bank teller that was already helping someone was available, but I went against my gut and went to the one who was available. I knew within 4 seconds of walking in that the available teller was going to give me bad service. She gave off this air that she had better things to do, and made the whole experience more difficult than it needed to be. She was also not friendly, and I felt that energy before I even got up to the counter. That one experience was enough for me to know I won't be using any services inside the bank from now on. With that said, the bank is very clean, and usually has good service. I may reevaluate this review next year.
