0/5 IF I COULD I'm still fuming after my experience with this company. As a working woman, I expect professionalism and respect when dealing with financial services. Unfortunately, H&R BLOCK fell woefully short. The representative I worked with made me feel belittled and embarrassed about my financial situation. Their tone was condescending, and their lack of empathy was staggering. I was treated like a child who couldn't manage their own finances, rather than a capable adult trying to navigate complex tax laws. The service itself was also subpar. I had mentioned that my identity has been stolen along with my children and that I have complications each and every year trying to file, I was rushed to access my W-2s (that were lost in a car fire) and I could only pull them up electronically of which I had mentioned. To top it off, the representative seemed completely uninterested in resolving my concerns. Continued to ask me over and over "is this all you made in 2024" after I had let him know I am searching for an additional W-2 that I may have of which I spent majority of my employment at this job. A lot of people these days are literally sitting at home waiting on a check meanwhile I get up daily away from my kids to go teach other people kids as my job but I don't do it for the money! I do it because I want to make a positive impact on this generation, and to be insulted over and over by the question of "is this all you made" not knowing what I had went through trying to recover my W-2s from a car fire is very upsetting. Needless to say, I won't be returning to H&R Block (yosef) and would advise others to steer clear. If you value your dignity and competent service, look elsewhere. read more

I just had an extremely rude lady answer the phone here and I will never go back to another H&R Block after that phone call! I needed a legal document that showed my social security number for the DMV and they suggested I bring in old tax forms. So being that I've spent thousands of dollars getting my taxes done here for the last 20 years, I figured they'd be happy to help me! Boy was I wrong!! This lady argued with me about every single point!! She did NOT want to print my tax form at all!! She wanted me to go register online and jump through a ton of hoops! I told her all I needed was for her to look up my name and print one tax form for me! All I asked for and all I needed was 1 form (all mine are in my storage over 4 hours drive) and she wanted to charge me $25!!! She said that was for all my forms, I don't need all of them! What happened to having good customer service??? I wasn't asking her to cook me dinner!! Ridiculous!! Then, when I asked to speak to someone else there (really hoping to find someone who might have some customer service skills and not be so argumentative), she hung up on me!! I'm so disappointed in the way I was treated and will definitely be reporting her terrible behavior! She acted like SHE was a DMV employee and not a tax person!! Actually I've been treated much better at the DMV!! I'm so glad they record their phone calls!!! I hope she gets fired!! People like her DO NOT belong in customer service!! Skip H&B block. Go somewhere else. We called and made an appointment and asked how much it would be. They said it depended on how many forms we had. Sure, makes sense. So we asked how much it started at. Hellen Bellamy told us on the phone it would start at $118. So we came in. Helene Wood was the woman that tried to do our taxes. It's a good thing they have a dual computer screen facing the customer, because we had to stop her at least 5 times to tell her she clicked a wrong button or entered the wrong amount or that she had put the wrong name in a box. She struggled through it for an hour and a half and even had to stop once to ask a coworker how to do deal with more than one w2 from a company. I'd emailed her a form, that she insisted on printing, then she couldnt read the print, so she had to bring up the email again so she could write the number on the paper, which she then shredded! When we FINALLY got through it, she rang us up. $343! So we asked if we could see how that was calculated. Each form they added actually had a somewhat reasonable price, but the price started from $259 not $118. Ms. Woods said that "they should have never told us that on the phone". When we started expressing our concern Ms. Ballamy came barging into the conversation and actually started raising her voice with us saying that she didnt say that on the phone. While we explained to her what we were used to paying at or normal tax place and offered to pay something more reasonable, Ms. Ballamy actually walked away from us while we were talking. We asked to speak to someone in a position to work with us on the price. Ms. Ballamy and Ms. Woods both insisted that their manager was not there, in a meeting or unavailable. We insisted. Ms. Woods called. Bridgette Gibbons answered almost immediately (must have been an important meeting). Ms. Gibbons offered us $50 off. Nope, so we packed up our things and left. I did call their corporate office to see if there was something they could do, but after talking to what must have been a seasonal temp worker on the phone who didnt have any idea what to do, said they would "put in a ticket and have someone from corporate call me back". Well I guess Ms. Gibbons works at corporate as she was the one that called me back. She upped her offer to $100 off. Nope. Not after that many mistakes and time exerted. That wasn't enough to make it right. We ended up going back to our normal tax person. She had our taxes done that day, over the phone and email scans for $160. She even found us a few extra bucks on our return. Should have just done that in the first place. So do please skip this place and H&R block. If you do go, make sure you get a written price quote before you sit down and waste a day getting bad, inaccurate service. Dont let all the guarantees on the wall fool you. This is a seasonal hack outfit. read more

Only been here one time, but after a local independent place was too booked, we decided to come here for our 2015 taxes. I am so glad we did because Linda Gribble is SO great at what she does. My husband and I learned so much from today's visit. Throughout the whole process, Linda was very thorough and made sure we thought of everything that could put down on our taxes. She also made sure to tell us things that someone not in the tax/accounting field would think/know about. I'm very glad we came here today because the other place may have been too rushed and may have missed things since they were so busy. The prices here are higher than at some other places, but we think it's worth it because H&R Block takes care of you the whole way. If the IRS turns around sometime up to three years from now and asks us about our 2015 taxes, H&R will deal with them. We won't have to do or pay a thing. Our experience here was not generic at all, and in fact, was very personable. Linda made this whole experience so much better than what the word "taxes" usually brings to mind. I used to come to this office to prepare my taxes. Today I walked in to get some guidance from a friend of mine, who is new in this country. The receptionist was not very welcoming since I walked in. It look like she tried to help me but when I asked if it was possible to speak to an adviser, she said " You don't have the documents with you, HE IS JUST GOING TO WASTE HIS TIME WITH YOU" Twice!. I can not believe she said that! How can I know what We need to bring if we don't get the proper information. It is going to be more waste of time for him if we come back without the proper documents!!!!! What a great customer service. i already knew this year i would be returning to les lund to file my taxes. he is amazing. he explains everything in a way that doesn't make you feel stupid for not knowing and in a way that you will be able to remember. he will go above and beyond to find you as many deductions as possible. aside from all his professional talents, he's amusing and fun to spend tax time with--a time that could be a total chore if you're struggling through it alone or with a tax person that isn't as friendly as les. as long as i'm in the bay area i will sit with les during tax season to file my return. he's my tax guy. you won't find anyone better. read more

I've tried doing my own taxes to save some money but the refunds I received were always pretty small. I decided to go to a professional this time and called up H&R Block who made an appointment for me to see Les Lund. H&R was offering a deal where they would look at previous tax returns to see if there were any refunds that were missed... Boy, am I glad I went! I was missing out on thousands of dollars in refunds simply because I didn't understand that there were a lot of deductions I qualified for. I had Les do my taxes this year and let me say that he squeezed out any refund that he could find. I received such a HUGE refund that my husband and I are finally able to take the honeymoon that we never had. Les was very thorough, caring and professional. Ronnie helped prepare my taxes this year and she was incredible. I was confused about how to account for capital gains but she went over everything with me and was done by the end of the day. All I had to do was show up with my paperwork and she took care of the rest. The only reason for the 4 star review is because of the price. I had a fairly small amount of forms and the total cost wound up being around $270, which was a bit more that I assumed I'd pay given HR Block's heavy marketing of the $75 minimum. I have several businesses and my tax returns are quite complicated. I had to switch tax consultants this year and my taxes surprisingly took a big jump. I went to Les Lund for a "second opinion." He went over my last two tax returns on the spot, line by line, explaining clearly why I owed more this year. Even though he found no mistakes in this year's return, I felt so much better at the end of our meeting. He also suggested a shift in my attitude; that I revel in the fact that my income took a leap rather than worry about the extra amount of taxes I'm paying. I am a man of very few words and don't lime to leave reviews unless the service was amazing. Since I have been in the customer service business for over 8 years I know the difference between people who are just there and people who want to be there for you. Les Lund is one of those people who is there for you. I have always got money back on my taxes because I pay out more during the year. However, Les got me back 3x times as much as I was expecting. This man found deduction that I had no idea I was entitled to. I don't know about you but when some has me sit down for a hour and then triples my money I will love that person. I went in for the basic tax prep and he asked me question like did you have to buy clothing for work did you have to travel ad so on and so forth. Man did it start to add up. He asked I I was enrolled in school and I got a break for that. This man know his way around his taxes and thank to him I will be able to enjoy a new 55" LED tv for the upcoming NBA playlets and the 2011 NFL season. Thanks Les Lund you are the man. read more
