DONT USE HIM, but if for some reason you do, double, triple check the return. Or even better have a younger, smarter, more ethical more competent CPA check it. I have used Gary for the last 8 years, I trusted him to do my taxes every year. And the past 2 years trusted him to do my and my fiance's taxes. Gary was an elderly man when I met him 8 years ago sitting in his kitchen. So obviously he is 8 years more elderly now, and seems to be getting senile. He raised his price every year to do my taxes every year since the first year I met him. I put my trust in Gary because he comes across as a nice, sweet grandpa that we all have or have had. Well, this year, to make a long story short, he charged me and my fiancé both $250 to do our taxes. And when it came back this year, he said my fiancé OWED $3,504. Which just didn't seem possible. So my fiancé thank god being the smart business savvy woman that I fell in love with, she went over it herself. And Found that Gary, Our trusted CPA, made an enormous, egregious mistake. He just fucked up her taxes, she did not owe $3,504 to the IRS, in fact they owed her about $100. The IRS of course took our $3,504 the day after it was filed. We told gary about his mistake, and he was very rude and said ok let me pull your file up, and realized that he made a HUGE mistake. We are out $3500, for the next 30-60 days until the IRS gives us back what Gary Madden screwed up. When we went to sign the forms to get our money back that he mistakenly egregiously and belligerently totally fucked up. He snapped at us when we asked him to to the moral right thing, to use basic business ethics, by refunding just my fiancé's part that she paid. If he wasn't elderly I would have wired his jaw shut. But I just told him ok gary. DEERPARK AND LAPORTE, if you use this man's company, you shouldn't, but if you do, please make sure you double triple quadruple check them when he gives you. Baity and Assoc. spoke to the IRS and eventually got roughly 60k of penalties and fees dropped and my payments cut by 2/3. They were professional and reassuring during the whole process and I shutter to think what kind of situation I'd be in without them.
