Today, at H&M in Coquitlam, BC, I had the most horrible experience ever. I came to the store with my 12-year-old son to return the sweatpants we bought for him yesterday. The return was because the seam had come apart after he had worn them for 30 minutes at home. We had with us a receipt, labels, and sweatpants. The manager refused to refund the money and return the product because my son had worn it for 30 minutes at home. I was outraged by it and shamed them publicly for being wrong. The manager pointed to a receipt and stated there are no returns on items after they are worn. I said to her that they were selling damaged goods, and refused to accept it back when there was a problem with it a day later. Since my son only had them on for half an hour at home, I tried to persuade her to proceed with the return. It wasn't something like he made a hole by being negligent; it was a faulty product, and a big hole was there because the seam had come apart. The manager also refused to give me her name and went on the walkie-talkie to call security on me. I managed to take her photo when she was calling security. We left the store before security showed up. I am attaching a picture of the back side of the receipt, pants with the hole in them, and tags. I recently bought my kids their back to school clothes at H&M, as I always do. The store was very busy and I can totally understand why the check out lady was overwhelmed. When I got home (an hour and a halfs drive from the nearest H&M) i realized the tags were still on a few of the multi packs i bought. So, naturally I emailed. At first i got a great response and was told they completely understand why cant just drive to return as i live too far away. They put me in touch with the back office to organize the refund. Then started the very long thread of emails. I had to keep sending photos of the tags then the receipt, then the price, tags, then they needed the wash label from inside the clothes and then they asked me to send more photos of the tags and so on. It is still not resolved and it looks like after 3 weeks it might never be. I am so disappointed. read more

Wish i could rate them lower than 1 star for customer service. Bought 2 pairs of jeans in December. Went to return them within their 30 day policy, but the store was closed for renovations. Went to return them once they reopened and was told it was past the 30 day window and they would not offer a refund and only give a 50% store credit. How does that make any sense?? This place is great for its prices. So yes, the clothes are cheap (be careful putting your items in the washier and dryer), but the prices are low. So if you need something for the summer in Vancouver, knowing it will only be sunny for a few months, this is where I go. Also, the workers are fairly nice, they always help when I ask. However, they are not coming to you otherwise. read more

Clothes I need. Money I haven't. Coquitlam Centre H&M = air conditioned + big store and selection + less crowded. And though I have be on the lookout like the quality police sometimes, H&M generally can be counted on to cloak me in cute stuff on the cheap, whether I need a floaty little sundress or a sparkly top for partytime or some businesslady gears. As Alexis said, there's a wide range of looks that can assembled here. The only downside to H&M is the lack of service, i.e., no one's starting a changeroom for me when I'm loaded down with items or fetching me another size (I suppose I could be more assertive). But I'm pretty DIY and independent, so on the other hand, I don't miss hovering salesclerks either when I shop here. I also agree with the comment about the dude's selection - my husband has thus far been unimpressed with his side of the store. read more

Love H&M. Used to shop there when I was in the States and come home with an entirely new wardrobe for $300. LOVE that it's in Canada now. My favorite location is the downtown one, but this one is right by where I live and has a good selection as well. It has a lingerie and Divided section, unlike the Lougheed store. The clothes at H&M can be really hit or miss, depending on what your style is, but usually almost everyone can find something they like at a reasonable price. And they get new stock in constantly. H&M's pieces range from classic, like blazers and cardigans, to comfy basics like tanks, jeans and sweats, to cutesy, unique-looking standout items, like a bell-sleeved opera jacket or a fringed flapper-style dress. Not everything is for everyone - granted, sometimes I look at the displays and they actually turn me off from entering the store - everyone's dressed like a Stepford wife or something - but like I said, the selection is so widely ranged, you're bound to find something you like. And the prices are really quite painless - $25 for a cardigan, $40-$60 for a jacket, etc. Their lingerie is inexpensive compared to La Senza, but the quality is not too different. I haven't had a problem with any of it coming apart in the wash or anything like that, and they have some really cute underwear. The jewelry is fantastic, actually. I have so many pairs of sunglasses from H&M that haven't bent out of shape yet, despite their $12 price tags. They have some cute earrings and scarves and stuff, too. I dunno about the guy's section - some of the stuff looks pretty hideous to me, and my boyfriend shuns all things even remotely trendy when it comes to fashion anyway (he's more of a band t-shirt kind of guy - you'll never see him in a salmon polo shirt and a fedora, both of which they have here in several hues) but their children's section looks cute and pretty reasonable, if you have kids. I don't personally and don't plan to anytime soon, but I love clothes and have an obsession with tiny little cute miniature things, so I do peruse kid's clothes for absolutely no reason occasionally. All in all, H&M is my go-to store for everyday cheap gear. I know it's prepackaged fashion for lazy, unimaginative sheep, but I've gotten many compliments on clothes from that store, and I will continue to frequent it. read more

The fitting room guy really need a raise. The poor thing looked so miserable doing his job.

The clothes are not very well made, but what they lack in solid construction, they mostly make up for in price. I stop in here every few months to pick up a few new items & accessories to fill out my work wardrobe and I often buy dresses here when I need something new for a night out but don't want to break the bank. I find the Coquitlam Centre location can be hit and miss with it's selection, and they seem to carry an abundance of size 0s while not offering much on the higher end of the spectrum, but I expect this when shopping in my 'hood. Asian women and I are just NOT built the same, but I'm used to that by now. read more

DO NOT! I repeat DO NOT BUY SHOES FROM HERE! I bought these cute nice flats from the Coquitlam location and I wore them to the store and the back of my heels are all cut up and bloody. The shoes are not stained on the inside with blood. DO NOT buy shoes from this store. Horrible idea ! read more

I normally shop on line to avoid people however I really wanted a few things asap so I went in ..The staff overall are ok especially one the guys that works in clothing dept Dakota he is was very helpful ..The guy /girls working the fitting rooms just miserable ,serious ,and I think if they tried to crack a smile they would literally crack themselves ..ugh Secondly the customers in the store weren't any better.. I couldn't help noticing how stuck up they were ACTING loooool seriously get a grip ....Everyone walking around like they are entitled trying to act like are a somebody ... I haven't seen such a crowd like this in any store in the mall .. This is H and M helloooo and even if it wasn't whats with this attitude ..I would chat up people while waiting to try clothes to literally annoy them and bring them back to earth ..even Holt Renfrew does not have this attitude of entitlement lol.. Got some good summer clothes here and so far so good. I really like the new cargo shorts they have in season. Decent price too. Don't expect to get phenomenal service because you wont. But all in all good stuff! read more

I used to LOVE H&M. I first experienced this place in Toronto but have been bitterly disappointed with the store for the last few years. Their clothes never fit JUST right. At least not on me. I think they have become too North American and left some of the Euro influence behind. read more

I just shopped at this location. I used to like this location but I don't think I will go back there. I rather drive far to get some services. The person at the cashier was very rude person. she did not say anything from the beginning until I finished paying and grabbed my back. Most H&M store employees are very friendly, that's one of the reason I like to shop there, but not this location. The WORST service ever. I am not going back there sure. read more

I love this location, because it's not busy and the selection is huge! The quality is hit or miss, but the prices is not bad so it makes up for it. I love getting shoes or accessories from here. There's always something cute that you would want (ie. scarf, purse, earrings, etc). I buy something from here every time I walk in here. It's definitely worth the drive from Vancouver. The Lougheed store is not as great, they look like they get their stocks last of all stores a month late or something. I never see anything new there. read more

Horrible Customer service from the red hair girl at the cashier. No respective manner talking to the customer. "Uh-huh, uh-huh, no exchange for the sale item. It's our policy." No apologize words for no verbal notification at the time of purchasing or no flexibility-talking to the manager regarding the matter etc. If I had known I can't exchange the sizes from what I just purchased yesterday, I would have made an effort making my two little kids wait and tried them on yesterday! She just proudly showed the font 3 fine letters in the receipt and "it says it here". Haha really. do you really read that every time you get receipts. It wasn't really my normal shopping territory anyways but I won't drop a penny at this store from now on and will spread the words to my BMW club people. She made a big mistake. read more

Worst experience ever. My wife wanted to return an item because it had some make up stains on it, and she didn't notice them buying. Rude cashier refused to accept returns, even made notes on the receipt not to return or exchange or make price adjustments in any H&M store. She was stating that the item had some make up stains. But the fact is that it was the reason of the return. All items of that kind had make up stains, may be due to popularity and many people have tried it in fitting rooms. Never ever will enter this store with rude and not professional staff with zero attitude! I have pictures of the receipt with her marks. H&M remember, customer should be first. Spent more than 1000 in your stores during last couple of years, now will spend in other stores. read more

I recently bought a skirt from H&M. Got it home and it did not fit. I went back the next day --- tag still on --- in same bag -- but lost the receipt. The store would not let me exchange it or give store credit even!!! Apparently their new policy is no receipt, your problem. Frustrating. Horrible experience! The girl in the fitting room was sooo rude just because i said excuse me for letting others ahead of me when i was waiting clearly for awhile. She then continued with slamming everything and putting things away. She didn't say one word to me the whole time but was speaking to everyone else. I felt so uncomfortable i didn't even buy the clothes i wanted cause i just wanted to leave the store. The manager should really work on teaching the staff common respect. Can't even give them a star for the worthless attitude that the young child that they had in the dressing room. Was there with with my son, daughter, niece and nephew. Wanted to try on some clothes. Asked my son and nephew, who are 6 &7 to sit down by the front of the dressing room nd wait quietly for us. Took my daughter nd niece to the dressing room. As I was already half undressed heard the lady behind the table in the dressing room snapped at my kids to get up nd get out. With no please nd thank you or may you'd, no politeness involved at all. Quickly got dressed nd walked out with my daughter nd niece. Asked the kids to wait at the doorway nd walked up the girl nd said to her....for a work-place like this your supposed to have basic csr.....which clearly you have none. For being 7 doors down, I heard you snapping at my kids for no reason. They weren't being loud. Spoke to the supervisor who didn't do crap bout it. Will never shop there again nor will any of my friends. We all have kids nd if you do.....I wouldn't shop there either knowing how they treat kids when the sell kids clothing. read more

I was at H&M,Coquitlam Mall at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 1, 2014 and went to the cashier to pay by 3 gift certificates and the balance to my master card. Unfortunately, the store manager, Jena was very rude and no smile on her face from the start to finish of the transaction. I ended up of returning the blazer and a pair of pants that I bought because the store manager was not friendly and do not posses a caring attitude towards the customer to help create a good atmosphere of the store.
