We stayed here over Christmas week and loved it! The location is perfect, walking distance to everything and we had a view of the St Lawrence. The room and bathroom were very large, we were expecting more of a European size room so it was a pleasant surprise (room#725). They have a 24/7 coffee station (free) and wine dispenser ($) in the lobby which was super convenient. Breakfast was included in our rate, it was a small continental breakfast of yogurt, breads, fruit, cheese and meat slices which was fine for us but if you want a heartier breakfast skip this and go next door. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, Andreanne and Roxanne found out we were on our honeymoon and surprised us with prosecco and champagne flutes and a card in our room when we came back from a long day of touring! The hotel's hospitality will not be forgotten! Lovely place :)

Hotel 71 will exceed all of your expectations! From the second we arrived, our valet Matt was super helpful and very sweet. Checking in and out was a breeze and the suite we had was to die for. Room was very clean and even had a nespresso machine which was super convenient. The view of the Frontenac was unreal. The restaurant below, Il Matto was Italian and it did not disappoint! We actually ordered room service every night from there because the food was great! Our other valet driver Luke was also wonderful just as well as the rest of the workers in the hotel. I didn't feel uncomfortable once, or that I was a bother if I had any questions. Hotel is in the perfect walking distance to everything you need. It was so beautiful and snowy, so happy we spent our entire stay here. Would absolutely come back again. Thanks for the amazing stay!!

THIS PLACE IS SIMPLY ........PERFECT!!!!! Ian Schrager style, modern boutique hotel in the old port area of quebec city, located right across from the museum of civilization ( best in the city) and smack dab in the middle of the hottest restaurants ( local scene and foodie scene, few tourists) We got upgraded to a superior room ( they have 3 classes, classic, superior and suite) which had an incredible view of the river, a glass rain shower, dark tiled bathroom with tub, very very hip! all the rooms have bose speaker systems and the hotel plays cool tunes all day long through the system, or you can play your own on the dvd/mp3.cd player in each room. Beds are uber modern with down comforters and pillows, white linen covers. Rooms start at 149 canadian, but you can get a 25% if you stay more than 2 days on hotel.com or expedia, they had the suites listed for 152 on hotels.com, down from 199. at this price, there is NO BETTER deal in town, a hotel like this in Boston would be 300 a night, ( 71 is a lot like 9Zero in Boston for comparison sake) Free internet, breakfast included, staff is wonderful, location can't be beat Staff also steered me to two of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at, which will be reviewed shortly!

This stylish boutique hotel is located in the old National Bank of Canada building that has a beautiful neoclassical facade. Seamlessly blending upscale classical architecture with more contemporary decor it has the perfect location in Quebec City, situated in the historic district Chateau Frontenac, restaurants, museums and stores are all a short walk away. The hotel offers lovely rooms with free wifi, deep tubs, rainfall shower heads, and large suites with plush comfortable beds. I found the customer service at Hotel 71 to be outstanding and I highly recommend this hotel. I know the next time I'm in Quebec City I'll be staying here. I loved the bedding so much at this hotel that I bought the same sheets for my bed at home.

Modern boutique type hotel with lots of charm. The staff is great and so are the rooms. Only downside is the the Italian restaurant in the lobby which also provides the room service. However, the neighborhood, has plenty of great eateries right around the corner. I stay here for business and pleasure and have yet to find anything that would make me want to change hotels. For QC, this is the best you can get. I've heard the chateau is not as nice and quite a bit more if you want an equivalent room type. Even with the sub par restaurant this place dwarves five stars bc 4 would not do it justice.

    Free continental breakfast!

An excellent stay here for three nights for our family of five! Quiet hotel tucked into a side street but just minutes away from Petit-Champlain, Rue St. Paul, etc. The free continental breakfast is amazing, and the hotel even left us a bottle of champagne, chocolates and a nice note for our tenth wedding anniversary. Everything was professional, luxurious and modern. L'Occitane bath products were lovely. Would recommend Hotel 71 to anyone staying in QC!!

This place is in a great location in the lower part of the Old District of Quebec. That being said...it is a more touristy location. You can walk anywhere in Old Quebec, but do have to take a cab to get to some of the more trendier areas of town like St. Roch or St. Jean Baptiste. (in fairness you don't have to really take a cab, but it would be a 15 or 20 min walk). The rooms are clean. Bathrooms have a big walking shower. Valet parking. Clean. Friendly. Reasonable priced ($200 / night). Would definitely stay here again.

I really like this hotel. It was a converted former bank and quite modern. The front desk is unobtrusive. There is a separate room with a Nespresso coffee maker and hot water dispenser for tea. There is another lounge for sipping the wine that you can buy separately in a self dispensing cabinet. The coffee area is opened all night and shared with customers at it's sister hotel right next door. Frederika, at the front desk helped with dinner recommendations. She was sweet and friendly. Breakfast is served daily from 7-10 am weekdays and 8-11 am weekends. It is self serve with hard boiled eggs, dried fruits, nuts, cereal, sliced ham and cheese, mini croissants, bagels or bread to toast, OJ, tomato and grapefruit juice, lattes, espresso, cappuccino and chopped mixed fruit. The croissants are buttery and flaky. Better than some of the ones you buy in the pastry shops. The rooms have L'Occitane toiletries, big towels, bathrobes, a safe, small refrigerator and Nespresso machine. We were on the top 7th floor so there was a great view of the St. Lawrence river and cruise ship terminal. The Holland America came into port one day. We would definitely stay here again. The Musee d'Civilization is also right across the street. And the hotel has a rear door exit to take you to the street in back. We use this entrance all the time. They do recommend $3-5 CAN tip for your room attendant daily and tips for the breakfast staff. A tip bowl is located by the plates. If you want to avoid the touristy commotion of upper town then I recommend staying at this place in lower town. The walk to upper town takes us 15 mins or longer if we stop to look and there are a couple of routes to get there but stair climbing at some point is inevitable. We made at least 3 trips to Upper Town the 5 nights we stayed in Quebec which is a quick hike. The round trip walk to the Plains of Abraham and tours of the Citadel In one day was the tiring one.

This is the towel that this fancy hotel finally brought to my room

The hotel is beautiful & quant. When we arrived, I was in love. The following day, however, a different story. We left our room to explore Quebec City at 10:30. When we arrived back at 5:00, not only had housekeeping not cleaned our room, there was a note on our door that they didn't want to enter our room since our Do Not Disturb sign was on (FYI....there is NO Do Not Disturb sign in our room for us to have put out). At 5:00 I called to complain & asked for clean towels. At 6:30, still no clean towels, so I used towels on the ground to shower. This time I requested a manager and was told the manager had left for the day. For what we paid for this fancy room, I expect better service! Also to note, the WIFI isn't strong at all for our computer & the refrigerator froze the water bottles we put in. Here's the towel that was just brought to my room

The Chateau is an architectural gem. It is well worth your time to walk around the perimeter of this gorgeous building -- you won't be bored. The tour guide explained that the Chateau is a 5 Star hotel and everything must be perfect. Once inside, I saw chandeliers and window ledges caked with white dust. The "grand ballroom" reminded me of my high school all purpose room. We were warned not to touch anything because the grand ballroom was being prepared for an Easter Brunch. Two of the tablecloths covering the round guest tables had strange, yellow spots on them. If I return to Quebec in the future, I will stay at the Hilton which has a fabulous buffet breakfast that is reasonably priced and an equally fabulous view looking down on the Chateau and the old city.

The only minor complaint we had was that we arrived late and the bar was closed. We were a little hungry so the front desk receptionist offered us some snacks from the mini bar. We should have realized these snacks would be mini bar pricing even though he handed them to us from the reception desk. $26 of chips and pretzels showed up on the bill! Our mistake. This is a 125 hotel all day long except for its 15 minutes walking distance to the Frontenac Hotel which is about the same price right now. Don't get me wrong everything is insanely overpriced around here. This is Manhattan pricing. I think the whole thing is completely not worth it. The Frontenac is beautiful on the outside, but there's nothing really going on the inside and it's just surrounded by overpriced, mostly lousy, tourist trap restaurants. I would spend a day here that's it there's not much else to do if you are active. Overall, I'm very disappointed at the hotel and the area in my opinion was a complete rip off. The area was nice by the Frontenac, but all of the tourist trap restaurants and T-shirt and sweatshirt gift shops just ruined it for me. Decent walking if you are into hilly areas, pretty to see once but more of a one and done after a day. All of the videos I watched on this place and the area I feel deceived. It was not that interesting at all and not worth it in my opinion. I'm bummed out it was a waste of a lot of money and a lot of time getting there for a crappy hotel and a lot of bad food and average coffee at unfriendly coffee shops. By the way this hotel has no lobby coffee, no water or snacks whatsoever. Some nights are 500 even $600 a night here. As much as I hate Holiday Inn expresses they are far better than this hotel. This is just a basic no frills place and you can't even adjust the room thermostat. Apparently it's controlled by management so you have limited access if at all some evenings it was shut off completely. This should be illegal at this price range. Again you need your head examined if you pay this price here. I only did because I was deceived by overhyped reviews. A lot of hotels in area are same price but from the little I saw of them they appeared to have a more luxury vibe compared to this low end b&b type vibe here. Oh and by the way, they gave me parking passes for a lot across the street. I displayed all of them in my windshield and I was still given a ticket by a cop in this parking lot that was $92 found on my windshield. If I say I'll never be coming back it would be too soon.
