We had internet AND running water, which I wasn't even expecting. We struggled so bad, that our neighbors noticed and kindly came over to save our lives lol Everybody was so nice there, and didn't care that we were english. The Campsite's beach was covered in beautiful rocks, and we were even lucky enough to collect some natural pink mineral stones! It was truly a beautiful scenery for such a simple set up. We were eaten alive by a lot of bugs at first, but when we took a shower and used the camps tea tree oil soap and shampoo's, the bugs left us alone, so we really appreciated that! We were also surprised to find a microwave, pay-per-use washer and dryer, sinks, and lounge at the public cabin. Would have been better if the washer and dryer were larger to process bigger loads though. I also appreciated the high ceilings in the showers, which helped me not ever feel suffocated by the humidity from the water. Didn't appreciate how some of the campers would not clean their hair from the drain net though, that was gross lol But at least everything else was nice. For 30$/night there, it was a nice deal.

Not private at all but u can section off your spot for a little added buffer space. Very clean and accessible full service bathrooms. Super nice, helpful and chillax staff who appear to live on site (at least during camping season i presume). Nice and quiet save for two noisy neighbors who didn't seem to catch that EVERYONE ELSE was quiet even if they were still awake. Nice fire pits. A good stop off if you're doing that beautiful coastal drive along the 132. They say they normally don't accept 1 night reservations but they allowed us to stay as long as we accepted to only choose our site on arrival though we booked 1 week+ in advance. Would stay again if need be :)

BOTTOM LINE: You gotta pay to play, but this is basically the only place to see northern gannets in…read moreNorth America. As (one of) the only breeding sites for northern gannets in North America, Bonaventure Island is a destination unto itself that is a must see, even if you're not a birder. But first, you gotta pay a fairly hefty $42 for the privately-owned ferry ride (it's billed as a "tour" and they do take you around the entire island so you can see birds along the escarpment, which you otherwise wouldn't see, but still...), and the standard $9 entrance fee of most provincial parks. But once you're in, oh my! I'd recommend the Sentier des Colonies hiking trail straight to the far side of the island and then returning along the coastal Sentier Chemin-du-Roy path - this way, you get to pass by all the bird colonies, including an elevated lookout for a real, ahem, bird's eye view of the action. Literally, there must've been over 10,000 gannets here (!), but somehow the park staff have done an amazing job of cordoning off the breeding grounds from the main path, and likewise, the gannets themselves seem to only stick by the cliffs and barely venturing inland. For the gannets alone, it's worth the trip here, but there are also many other kinds of birds that frequent here such as the bald eagle, common murre, evening grosbeak, etc., in case you get bored!

It was the best hike I did in all of quebec. I climbed 15 mountains in quebec so I know what I'm talking about! Do the hike straight across the island first to get to the gannet colonies quick before everyone else. It takes about 45min one way. After chilling with the birds, head to the observation tower and follow the colonies trail. This hike let's you see everything on the island and has multiple landscapes to keep you occupied. Seaside hikes, cliffs overlooking seal sanctuary, birds and seals swimming in the water, amazing views of perce rock and the town and unique houses which will are instaworthy. Highly recommended! Its $8.75 a person to access the island. And it costs $36 to take the boat tour across to the island. There is one direct boat which departs at 830am for cheaper but the tour is really fun and informative. So it's worth the extra bucks for the experience!
