This is a very new hotel that opened up across the street from the Giant Bijlmer Arena. The hotel is modern in stature and atmosphere. The Nordic kitchen is well laid out with minimal decor. During lunch you have the option for buffet or a la carte. The buffet seemed alright but I decided to take on the menu. Nothing overly striking but decent food all the same. In the evenings, the bar gets active with all the guests looking to get a drink or two before they retire to their rooms. Mostly isolated in groups but that's the European way anyways. Staff is super friendly and courteous. Prices are decent for what you get. I would not make a separate trip to visit the restaurant but if you are staying in the vicinity, is worth a shot. read more

The food is okay. Nothing extraordinary. We just went here for a business dinner bc we were staying here. I ordered the Bacalao which is not authentic but is mashed potatoes with onions (not the real Nordic fish stew). The flan was stingy. The fries are better at the Holiday Inn across the street. read more

Love the restaurant whether it is for dinner or breakfast. The casual stylish setting makes a great atmosphere. I love the Nordic style so it definitely is my thing :)... their steaks are great and so are other meals. The breakfast could have a bit wider choice but otherwise nothing to complain about :) read more

We had a wonderful lunch here. We had a selection of smørebrod which was very nice as a starter. We then had beef and lamb both grilled nicely. Gård is on the ground floor of a big hotel, which usually makes a restaurant boring by default but they have managed to redesign the whole floor very well and it absolutely does not feel like sitting in a hotel lobby restaurant. The menu on the iPads works well although at the moment it is just a menu so you order food and drinks with the friendly staff. This probably prevents a lot of clumsiness and errors so it's fine to me. Good choice for lunch and I will be back for diner if I am in this area. read more

Great service! Yes, in Amsterdam. Food was ok and prices were good. Would go back. This is not my type of place and I went here for a business lunch. The decor is Scandinavian minimalist, so small tables and unnecessarily large dishes, and there are these curtains one can draw around one's table for privacy, which is a good idea in theory but weird in a less than good way in practice, making the place look like a hospital wing. The curtains seemed to be stolen from Ikea Hospital, and hung from unnecessary skinny white metal fittings that evoked simply "Ikea." Every once in a while I'd glance up and wonder if surgery was about to begin. Based on my recent trip to Scandinavia, I'd say the decor is a good shot at authentic Nordic pretentious hipster (redundant?) BS but fortunately it falls short. Once I was assured I wouldn't need to get down to my undies and wait for the doctor, I noticed that the menu was short but offered some nice choices at rather reasonable prices (desserts were pricey, though). The staff brought me the wrong dish and offered me a drink of choice while I waited for the correct dish. Now, if this doesn't blow your mind it's because you're new to Amsterdam, so let me tell you that this is rare, I mean, this just does not happen here, so I'd definitely go back for this reason alone. And the staff were friendly and polite and just nice. The joys of service! I had the smorgasbord, or however it's spelled, and it was good though the serving could have been bigger, and so you know they plop a raw egg atop one of the open breads. There are not that many options around the BCN, unless you want to walk to the Arena. Still, the offer in this area is quite meager. As it was raining, I decided to try out Gård. I was in quite a rush, so I asked one of the staff what they offer. They offer a buffet, sandwiches and a few warm and cold dishes on the menu. My choice was the burger - always a good dish to compare places by. While the price was on the higher end (15 euro), the portion was very adequate and the fries were nicely cooked. Flavorful sauce (reminded me of the sauce they use for Big Tasty); the burger could have used some more pickles. Overall: good interior, very fitting for a hotel (I like that they have TVs broadcasting CNN), friendly and efficient staff. I wish I had a bit more time to enjoy the burger. read more

This restaurant is located inside the Marriott Courtyard. We were staying at the courtyard and decided to give it a try for breakfast. The buffet which I believe was the only thing offered, included a lot of good choices, and everything my wife and I had was good. Just good, not great, and not bad. The service was a little odd. I say this because there were two or three staff members and it appeared their only job is to clean the plates from the customers tables. At breakfast time at just about every other restaurant I've been to in my life, the servers at least bring an initial cup of coffee and water to the tables. Not here. Here the customer is responsible for getting everything themselves. This is okay I guess, but this is not a super cheap buffet, the price is probably middle of the road. The food was decent, the service was decent, the restaurant was clean, and the reason we went here was because we were staying at the Marriott, so the location was super convenient. I would not go out of my way to visit this restaurant again. However, if you are staying in the Marriott this is a pretty solid place. Just don't expect much more than average. read more

Great for business lunch or dinner, not suitable for a leisure- or romantic date. It is located in a hotel and is surely very stylish but it has that hotel-lobby-bar feel to it. Personnel was very correct and nice. Menu is presented on tablets which is a cool feature. The food quality/quantity/price triangle is not in balance: too expensive for what you get. read more
