I have tried a lot of Middle Eastern food in Monterrey, and I've missed out on a lot by living so far to the west of the city. I've ordered Los Gyros three times from this new location!
Five stars for their Gyros Salad (ensalada gyros), it is perhaps the best salad I've eaten in Monterrey. It has a mix of chopped vegetables and a few arugula leaves, so it has this delicious crunch from peppers, cucumbers, with just a hint of bitterness from the greens.
The actual gyros are good, too, a bit fatty, but fresh and full. I loved the gyro sampler with smaller sizes of standard, chicken, and vegetarian (mushroom) gyros on pita. The smaller sized standard gyro was better than the full-size because they chopped the meat more and crunched it up more on the grill.
The popcorn cauliflower is great, and I expect it would be better on-site, crunchier. It is not overly breaded, so the flavor of the cauliflower is good with or without sauce.
A couple of additional features, you can get sandwiches on pita bread or in lettuce, perfect for getting a bit more fiber with a meal and dialing back on calories. They also have a list of salsas, and wow! I am addicted to the lemon piquin, it is so fresh and spicy, that it makes the food sing.
I'm looking forward to visiting Los Gyros on-site, not just delivery. read more
