    Frozen cherry yogurt

The lady that rang me up today was so nice and pleasant I got the black cherry frozen yoghurt. It's sooooo good. I got in the cup or you can get a milk shake. Will be getting this again for sure.

    Gross gyro

Omg omg. This food is so gross. It's literally inedible. I'm starving now and in the next 10 mins I know what I'll be : even hungrier. The gyro meat they use is absolutely disgusting. Fatty , greasy and has an off taste. Their slogan is "no one does gyros like us". Yeah they are right about that. I think they added just enough disinfectant cleaner to make this taste like the dried out rubber it is. Whatever seasoning they use needs to be stopped. IMMEDIATELY. Gyro plate came with one pita. I guess they know what they are doing. They figured this would go straight to the trash so the one pita is less garbage for the environment. Not to mention less punishment for the consumer. This place needs to be renamed CRAP SHACK

This place appeals to all demographics - when I was there today, I saw both a guy with a giant neck tattoo and a dude in business clothes working on his laptop. It would appear that everybody loves good food at a great bargain. My advice is to round up some friends and order the gyro plate. For $6.99, you get a huge heap of meat, onions, tomatoes, feta cheese and kalamata olives with french fries buried under it. Order a few extra pitas and additional containers of sauce because this thing is designed to be shared. My coworkers and I managed to split it among five people and each of us had a gyro full of meat and toppings to enjoy. The appetizers are massive, too. For under $4, you get probably 20 or more fried mushrooms. The cheese fries arrive drowning in cheese sauce and have to be eaten with a fork - the mark of good cheese fries, in my book. Oh, but don't plan on eating there. There are only a few stools by the window and a handful of picnic tables outside. This is a definitely a "take it home and enjoy it" sort of joint. When they call it a shack, they're not kidding - that's the size it is. It isn't fancy and the neighborhood is a little shady - I passed both a "sensual boutique" and a taxidermist to get there - but I'll take great food over pretension any day.

Over a decade long custumer. The past few years, i noticed Pete (owner) has been spending less time there. Quality is slipping.

Was just okay. Not great gyro, a little greasy and not very hot. Fries were soggy, charged way too much.

This is a great place, the food is pretty good, prices are fair, and on the Gyro Platter two maybe three people can eat off of it. Dave

Taste of Jerusalem is the kind of place that reminds you why you should never judge a restaurant by its zip code or its signage. Tucked into a perfectly forgettable strip mall in Plainfield, this little spot is quietly serving some of the best food in the area and I am genuinely annoyed it took me this long to find it. The chicken kabob plate was a revelation. Massive portions of beautifully marinated chicken laid over a split of white rice and spicy rice. That spicy rice deserves its own paragraph. Fragrant, deeply spiced, with a slow building heat that lingers just long enough to keep pulling you back for another bite. Addicting is the only word for it. The hummus was exactly what hummus should be, fresh, delicious, also addictive. I added falafel and pita and those falafel were genuinely among the best I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, not a trace of that greasy heaviness that ruins lesser versions. Just fragrant, spiced, crispy little bites that I genuinely savored. My partner got the chicken wrap and said every component worked together without competing, tasted fresh, and left him full without feeling heavy. High praise from a man who knows his way around a wrap. The space is clean and simple. You order from a kiosk. None of that matters because the husband and wife team running the grill are pouring obvious passion into every plate and it comes through in every single bite. Plainfield has a gem here. Treat it accordingly.

This is a nice, small Middle Eastern market compared to Souq Fresh Market in Lombard. Souq is very big. This market has a lot of unique Middle Eastern snacks that I've never seen before along with a kitchen that you can order lunch and dinner from. Lunch is served 10 am - 2 pm. I believe dinner is served from 2 pm to 9 pm. Don't quote me on the end dinner times. They have 3 tables that you can eat at. I came after 10:20 am and I ordered the chicken kufta lunch special, two different kinds of samosa, and kebabs. Prices were cheap, I got all of this for $25. They also have an area where you can get some fresh meat and deli items. Staff was friendly. Overall 4 out of 5. If they fixed the kebabs, it would easily be a 5. -chicken kufta lunch special 5 - he made this fresh. You get one pita bread with it. Meat was soft and tender. The rice and salad were very tasty. Huge portion. -samosas 5 - I got one beef and one potato. They were both delicious. -kebabs 3.5 - he gave me two big kebabs but they did not taste freshly made. I'm no stranger to kebabs and I usually like my kebabs to be tender and juicy. These were semi tough and kind of dry inside. I can see the spices in them but they would taste even better new.

The most gracious and humble hosts - paying attention to every detail and stopping at nothing to bring whatever the customer wants to fruition. We don't realize that the place closes at 8:00 pm, and just kept chomping and socializing - they never once pointed it out to us. I begin with them because they were the friendliest folks, and their service was truly remarkable. Then comes the food - my goodness, the food. Let's begin with the Harira. Perfectly seasoned, but for me, it requires a little more salt (which is personal preference) and a pop of acid like lemon to bring out its true flavor. Overall, a really comforting, rich soup without being heavy or cloying. Then came the Moroccan seasoned potatoes - oooooweeee! These were little nuggets of pure deliciousness. Seasoned to perfection, crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside and every bite kept you wanting to go back for more. Then the lamb shank tagine - ummmm, excuse me?!?! What do you mean the meat is like butter? It literally falls off the bone and dissolves in your mouth. Rich, fatty, unctuous and truly a delight. The bed of couscous it came with was also great - made better by the sauce from the lamb shank. The highlight of this plate were the roasted prunes that are part of the sauce. Sweet, jammy prunes cooked into the sauce made them just truly a delightful mouthfeel in comparison to the couscous and the scrumptious meat. To top it all off, the cherry on top, is their comforting Moroccan mint tea. So very fresh and the perfect end to an absolutely DELIGHTFUL meal. Highly recommended!!!

It's tiny inside and feels well worn (in a good way), but there are a few tables outside. We went at an off time (or so we thought), but eventually all four tables and all bar seating were taken up. The gentleman serving us seemed to be the only one there, but he was friendly. We ordered a taktouka sampler, mixed grill platter, and lamb shank tagine. If you go to a Moroccan restaurant, you've got to get tagine. It took a little while for the food to come out, but overall it was excellent. The taktouka sampler was full of veggies. It was tasty, but I wish the carrots were cooked more to soften them. The mixed grill platter had chicken and beef kabobs, as well as something like a kefta (ground meat) kabob. The meats and rice were good, although the beef and chicken could have been more tender and juicy. The white sauce was a nice accompaniment. The lamb shank was excellent; nice tender meat, tasty rice, and delicious supplemental flavors from the figs and apricots. Overall, a very nice lunch.
