I can only give 1 stars as it won't allow you to leave a review without, but this place doesn't…read moreeven warrant 1 star! The service is atrocious, the landlady doesn't have an issue with drug dealers outside and believes its acceptable to be sitting outside in the midst of people smoking weed. You get a fair few pounds in 10ps and 5ps in your change. The food is burnt on the outside and cold inside #don't get a burger ! Or any other food here to be honest. I have been using this place as my local since it was built and never shared the conservatory with rats before whilst eating. A young man was escorted off the premises recently for reporting a rat in the conservatory! How this place has fallen since the previous landlord and landlady have left is unfathomable. Stay away is my recommendation.

When your Sat Nav is sending you one way, but clearly you cannot go that way as it is for buses…read moreonly... We had this problem when we were trying to find an estate agent. Eventually Mr. Snarky got fed up with driving around in circles and we ended up parking on the road and walking around. Eventually we found the estate agent and after we had finished our paperwork, we were really hungry. Hangry was becoming a definite possibility, so I just pointed out the pub across the bus station from the agent. Mr. Snarky seemed a bit hesitant, but he also didn't seem interested in walking around to find something else. We walked over and I admit I may have been a bit quick to judge with a banner outside for a £4.99 daily carvery. At one point I may have asked Mr. Snarky if he wanted to go somewhere else... The Milestone is certainly busy, right next to the shopping centre and the bus station. A bit of outdoor seating, facing the bus station, but plenty of seating inside. The place is not short on character... including the regulars stopping in for a pint :). The menu isn't extensive and you can definitely get a meal for less than £10... in fact you could get a meal for less than £5. As such, I wasn't expecting much from my meal, but fuel to keep me going until dinner. I decided to go with the Carvery Sandwich... meats from the carvery in a bap (they called it a bread cake), a bit of stuffing, some roast potatoes, a Yorkshire Pudding, and gravy. Mr. Snarky went with the Bangers and Mash. With two large sodas we paid £11.00. As we sat there, we noticed it was popular for shoppers... people having a cup of tea to people stopping in for slushies. The staff were clearly very familiar with most of the patrons, but were equally as friendly with those of us not-so-familiar. Our food didn't take too long to come out and we were surprised at just how much food there was. And it looked well presented! It may not be gourmet food, but we both liked our food. I chose to go with mixed meats from the carvery and that day it was pork and turkey, both nice large pieces. Gravy was lovely, Yorkshire Pudding was good, although there was a side that looked a touch burnt. Wasn't a huge fan of the stuffing and the roasties weren't quite roasted enough for my liking, but it was still a nice change to chips. I can't vouch for drinks, but it certainly looks like they have a lot of selection when it comes to lager and ale. Again, by no means is it Gastropub, but all the food we saw coming out (Fish and Chips, Scampi, and Carvery dinners) looked quite nice and our food was satisfying. I would qualify this as cheap and cheerful... and convenient. Not bad at all!
