Mmmm duck & miso and chef's special (prawn, pork & vegetable) gyoza Very impressed with Gyoza Gyoza - nice authentic izakaya food

Definitely coming back here. The gyoza are some of the best I've had in Australia. Duck = good. Chef's special = very good. Chicken & lemongrass = totally unique! Lots more I would love to try on the menu - all super reasonably priced @ $6.80 Nice sake to taste by the glass are: Otokoyama Tateyama Hakkaisan

Reminiscent of the 280 bars in Osaka, Gyoza Gyoza makes things easy for diners with all dishes priced at $6.50. If this is too much choice for you, there are set lunches for $9.90. This place is great value, especially evidenced by the soft shell crab rolls (2 for $6.50) or the gyoza of the day (5 for $3.50). You can have your gyoza pan fried or steamed if you are feeling healthy. They come with a tray of sauces that you can combine to make your signature sauce. Non gyoza fans do not despair, there are ample other menu options ranging from sashimi to popcorn chicken. The cute fit out, $6.50 concept, menu and pop music are consistent with it's sister restaurant Gyoza Douraku on Bourke St. GG is a smaller set up though and suffers a little in terms of heating with the cold breeze coming off the street straight through the restaurant. A fun, casual spot for lunch with friends over some quick, tasty dishes.

Gyozas!!

Awesome little Japanese eatery. Reminds me very much of the izakaya's in Japan. Very authentic. Great choice of gyozas, and little tapas style dishes. Well priced too with most menu items at $6.50. Bear in mind you have to order at least 3 dishes to fill you up. So delicious!

Watching the chefs at the open kitchen in Izakaya Chuji is truly inspiring - they are super-fast and know how to handle a sharp knife. The food is traditional, fresh and beautifully presented. Don't miss the ika butter, which is squid cooked in butter. It literally melts in your mouth. These are the guys that own Nihonshu Sake bar on Londsdale, so Izakaya Chuji has a pretty impressive range of beverages. They do both warm and cold sake, beers and there's a big range of whisky. Izakaya Chuji can get pretty loud when it's pumping, but that's part of the fun - highly recommended!

I was sad I had to share it with three friends and considered trading their portion for my skewered beef with terriyaki, but then that was delicious too! It has a fabulous atmosphere perfect for a date or a catch up with friends over a bottle of sake and a bowl of edamame (which are really good!). I'm adding this to my list of regular mid-week haunts. Love it.
