I was in an unfortunate accident on my new bike and immediately following drove to their shop and waited for it to open. It was a tough time for me but Jerry and Jack took the reigns and worked with Quintana Roo to get the bike back in shape and ready to ride like new. Four years ago, I purchased a well-used True machine that did a great job, until it stopped working due to an electrical fault. Being an older-technology machine with a DC motor, the part to repair it was very expensive, and unavailable at the time, anyway. So, I'm out looking for another machine. Craigslist had a couple of them, but I'm looking for something more modern than they had. There are some used commercial equipment dealers in the Miami area, but that's two hours away... FFL had an ad on CL, and I spoke with Chad on the phone. He texted me a few pictures of equipment that he thought that I would like and I stopped by their office/showroom in Fort Myers to check them out. The place wasn't fancy, but they had all sorts of equipment there. I chose a machine that was described as being off a three-year lease and looked clean and well-cared for. Although delivery was offered, I asked to pick up the treadmill myself, as I would have to disassemble it to get it into my office through a narrow doorway. Understandably, I wanted to disassemble it myself, as I'd be the one putting it back together. We agreed that I'd return the next day, after he had a chance to give it a final cleaning. I come back the next day and the machine has been cleaned. Except for a bit of wear on the belt, it could be a new one. YouTube had an assembly video for this treadmill, so I knew what to do. Nearly every bolt that I had to remove had already been loosened for me, and getting it disassembled and into my van took just a few minutes. The guys were very helpful. It was certainly nice working on a newer machine that wasn't full of icky grease, dirt and wax like my old one was. New technology is awesome. I get it home, in the office and assembled that afternoon. There's a maintenance menu that you can access that has the original install date as well as the hours/miles that the treadmill was used. The original install date was less than four years ago. Chad's description was spot on. So, I've got an awesome treadmill with a warranty (that I'm not likely to use), for a reasonable price. I paid a bit less than what you'd pay for a quality home treadmill, and got this beast of a machine that'll probably outlast me. If you're looking for quality equipment, I'd give these guys a shot.

You will definitely be questioning your mapping app when you are directed here because it's somewhat in the middle of nowhere. This is a big warehouse filled to the brim with fitness equipment. And they even had another room of clearance items in the back! The man that helped me said their prices here would be lower than their online prices because shipping wouldn't be required. I figured he meant a few bucks but it's some drastic savings. I spotted something in the clearance room that I bought that was $50 cheaper. A small item I bought online recently would have been 50% cheaper if I had bought it in person. Valor isn't a third party reseller like you might expect. They seem to make many (all?) of the products they sell. The bigger product I bought with them was easy to put together and has held up well for several years. I really trust them as a brand. Don't think you have to be a hardcore fitness person to shop here. You could save money on something as small as five pound dumbbells. They also have a loyalty club. My Apple wallet triggered a dialog for joining their loyalty club when I pulled into the parking lot and I started earning points with purchases I made in person. I will definitely be back!

Dick's Sporting Goods and Sports Authority just didn't have the quality I wanted. Then one day my wife and I were lunching at Olive Garden with our daughter when we noticed a place next door called Gym Source. After lunch we went in and I spotted a machine I liked, called a Hoist V Select 1. I loved how compact it was, and it felt really well made when I ran through a few exercises. Joel Colson, the store manager, was really helpful and there was zero pressure to buy. I took his card and I said we'd take some time to think about it. The next day I called back and was able to purchase the machine right over the phone since I had already been in the store. The Delivery/Setup Crew was terrific -very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Joel also followed up to make sure everything was delivered and set up perfectly, which I appreciated. I also like the fact that they service what they sell. I purchased my Elliptical machine from Sports Authority and they outsource service and repairs. Nice machine, but I don't feel like I've got much recourse should I have problems. If you're seeking gym-quality equipment at home and want to buy from a reputable company, I'd visit Gym Source. I felt the price was reasonable, the service was impeccable, and should I ever have any issues, I believe they'll work with me to make things right. Given the choice, I would purchase again.

Seriously? That was painful. We came here looking for shoes for my son. We asked for help from one…read moreemployee who pointed to one wall for younger/kid shoes and then a row for bigger/adult shoes. My son is right between sizes, so we asked if they could size him so we had a better idea of what would work best. We were told that there were sizing tools at most benches and to ask for help if we needed it. Dude. That is what we are doing. He walked off before the shock wore off. We did find a tool, sized my son, then found another employee for shoes in his size. He pushed a few buttons on a handheld he had and told us they didn't have it in stock then started to walk away. We stopped him and asked for another shoe in his size. Again he pushed buttons on his handheld with the same answer. He again tried to walk away. So we then asked if any shoe on the table we were looking at came in his size. He rolled his eyes at us before pushing buttons on his handheld. Yup. Rolled. His. Eyes. My son needed new shoes so just looked at shoes instead of using my big girl words about that behavior. Anyway... He found a shoe in my son's size and luckily my son liked them. We boxed up the shoes and went to the counter in the shoe area where two different employees were talking to pay. Set the box down and said we wanted the shoes. They both look at us like we are crazy before one stated "well, you have to pay for them before leaving with them." Pretty sure my attitude came out when I responded with "that is why my wallet is out." With just as much snark, we were told we have to pay up front. The experience had my blood boiling. If you are in a pinch and desperate for a glove or ball or t-shirt, even a bike or kayak, go to Dick's, just know you will be spending a lot of money you shouldn't for something you can find elsewhere if you give yourself time to shop. They do have a lot of staff walking around, but their goal seems to be customer advoidence. So there is that if you expect you will need some help.
