I am so sick of these high end, upmarket boutiques with their bullshit marketing propaganda. Rhodes…read moreand Beckett spruik the fact their range of corporate wear for men and women is designed using the finest Egyptian cotton. Well you know what, who really cares if the shit is ugly and costs half a deposit on a mortgage? It's bullshit and I won't stand for it. Oh, the models in their promotional material, both and men and women look superfly. Women in power suits and flattering shirts that are shaped just lovely, and the men, well lets just say no man has ever looked like that in any office I've ever worked in! Women's business shirts, are in all honestly, hideous. Blue and white stripes, manly looking shapes and at over $100 a pop, laughable - if they weren't trying to be serious. The only alternative is a musty, pinkish red colour - which of course also comes in the same, stripy ugly style. I must admit I didn't mind a couple of the women's suits, but at $500, GET OVER YOURSELVES!! The online shopping revolution means we normal folk no longer have to suffer in second rate discount store office wear. We can look just as good, if not better than the shit here, for a quarter of the price. And who cares if its not Egyptian cotton? In this day and age of fast fashion and trends changing almost seasonally, who needs an ugly Egyptian shirt for $160 that'll last ten years anyway?

In chronological order:…read more 08th September 2018 - I purchased a Charcoal Shark skin suit from the Rhodes and Beckett online store. 24th September 2018 - I purchased 1 x light blue and 1 x light pink shirt from the Rhodes & Beckett online store. 26th September - 06th January I sent a total of 9 separate emails inquiring as to the status of my order. In the beginning they were responded to with a generic "We apologise for any inconvenience, there has been an issue with our warehouse etc" I was promised a date of late November then the 18th December. Neither materialised and I heard nothing from Rhodes & Beckett as to the status of my order. Not once did they contact me first, on every single occassion it was me chasing an update on my order. As of Sunday, 6th January 2019 I have NOT received either of my orders. I write this review against the 349 Collins Street store as this is where the update emails are coming from - see signature below. No phone number and an email address that now bounces back with: Regards, Customer Service 349 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 E: info@rhodesbeckett.com 'The Rhodes and Beckett domain is suspended due to non-paymnet of services' I am currently $700 out of pocket for an order I placed nearly 5 months ago. I have been a long standing customer with Rhodes and Beckett, purchasing suits in store previoulsy. This is the worst retail experience I have ever encountered and I can assure you I will net let this go until I have the product I paid for. Michael

Harrold's has got to be the go to place in Melbourne for fine menswear. This store is two stories…read morefeaturing casual wear on the ground floor with suiting and formal wear on the second floor. All of the better labels are here in one convenient shop. Everything from Balmain and Brioni to Tom Ford and YSL are here. Even if you aren't in the market for a new 2- or 3-piece, it is well worth setting aside some time the next time you're on this end of Collins Street to check out a proper menswear store. Having frequented Savile Row over the years, I can tell you that this place is NOT at that level of tailoring but it is probably a rung below on the ladder. The staff can be hit or miss. On the ground floor the staff tend to be a little more upfront with wanting to assist you. I was looking recently for a pea coat and the only one they had in stock had epaulettes on the shoulders. Having stated that I didn't want the epaulettes, the gentleman offered to remove them for me then and there, as well as cleaning up the shoulder. I politely declined, having not liked the jacket totally to begin with but that shows how far they are willing to help a customer. On the second floor, there are racks and racks of suits, blazers and luxury accessories. The staff up here are less upfront with approaching customers and you have to actively seek them out for assistance. I don't mind being given some time to browse but after a while, it becomes a concern as to whether they are in fact interested in selling their stock. Prices are what you expect for the labels and quality. Shoe selection could have been better but better than the department stores. Only complaint with Harrold's is the fickle nature of the staff. If they improve upon this, they would receive 5 stars from me. Best menswear strore in the CBD.

I understand the store was under renovation. And the brands…read moreI was looking for were on the first floor. So I had to use their elevator to get up to my floor, and I understand that employees are busy moving products about. As I was waiting for others to enter the elevator, I would think that someone would hold the elevator door for me. But I was wrong and as I tried to enter the elevator, was bashed on the side by the elevator door nearly tripping me over. As I was not expecting that at all. Staff didn't even apologize or anything, just stood there dumbstruck at what had just happened. Once I went up to the first floor, everyone was busy doing their own things and completely ignored my presence. Very unprofessional and I felt very un-welcomed after that. I used to love shopping at Harrolds, but not anymore. My image has completely been altered.
