They were accommodating for pets, speedy 30 min cut, and prompt with appointments; he's been in business for a long time and has fantastic reviews so I expected wonderful results. First time round, he missed some hairs and the face framing was too heavy. I came for a second trim and he seemed progressively frustrated and rushed. He asked me check if he cut the lines straight, but never combed it to cut so I just went off my mirror and finger combing. I wanted a lighter bang so it didn't cover my face, but instead of cutting length he cut volume. When he cut too much he blamed it on "I was just following your instructions" and "you moved" and "you had too much clothes on." Good human, I wish him and his business the best and really appreciate that he had a new client discount and gave the second trim free but that's about all the hair you'll get from me. read more

Updated & never going back - 2/22/2020 What I wanted vs what I received (please see the picture) Sure they made up for it by "not charging" me, because apparently that's all a returning customer's hair and more importantly their "trust" is worth. I would have appreciated if they were bit nice to me and not have pointed fingers at me in their own defense, yes they threw the classic - "that's what you asked for!" at me hence attaching the picture of what I showed them from Pinterest. Guy's wife made sure to shower me with the most bitter words I ever heard at a salon while I was having a panic attack trying to process what the f@ck just happened to my hair. I lost a BiG BUNCH of my hair that they later said they knew would happen with the amount of bleach they were going to use, well would have helped if they had told me before and taken my consent if I was ok to take that risk! I would have obviously gone for a simple root touch up on my blonde instead of the black and silver look that they had assured they would be able to very easily do!! This picture, I would never share with anyone just because I hate to show my sad face to the world, but it's for Diane, Guy's wife, may be some day she will learn to empathize with other humans and treat her clients (that they screw over) with dignity & compassion. I would tell my whole story with a lot of detail because that's just how much time I had invested writing the best review for their business last year, but narrating the whole experience and how they treated me, Guy and his wife, would just hurt me more. ALEX was nice and tried to help. He was polite and it was quite comforting to finally talk to one person who was not attacking me & seemed rather concerned. He managed to do some damage control but obviously I will go to other salon to get it fixed in few months once my hair regains its strength and volume. I just want you ladies to be very sure of how much you want to trust, because I trusted the couple and paid dearly. More than the bad hair & hair loss experience it's the behavior that hurt me. I would have forgiven them if they took ownership, look if you take credit for your good work you should be polite enough to accept when you screw up. Diane is a very bitter person, may be she's suffering herself and that's what she projected on me, so I forgive her. But I will not deny that her words broke my heart. One more thing to add, they were so impatient, Guy was like tell me what to do now & I kept saying give me few minutes (I was obviously trying to process the damage and think of how to fix it) and then Guy just slams his book on the table and storms away saying - "I'm losing patience!!" Shouldn't I be the one losing patience? So anyway, here's my last review for this business. I hope I never see you again Guy and Diane - If I shared the best with you all, it's only fair that I share the worst. Old review - Been scared to get my hair colored after a trusted hairdresser damaged, literally burnt, my hair to almost half its density! But you know how addictive it is, beside my hair's been regaining it's strength & volume so I thought, why not :P It was raining, drove past this Salon, it looked pretty cool from outside so quickly yelped them to check reviews. It said "by appointments only" :( but gave em a call nonetheless and Guy answered, apparently his client had canceled due to the rain and he called me over! He instantly understood what I was talking about, what my hair went through and what was it that I wanted. I was also impressed by the ideas he suggested to make my hair look better w/o going overboard with coloring. He made a perfect brown (mixed 4 colors, wow!) for my crown base and added highlights on top of it to blend neatly with rest of my hair. Finished with good conditioning so my hair wouldn't feel dry or hard at all! I was impressed by his attention to detail, he added olive oil to the color keeping in mind how fragile my hair situation was! I feel I've found the right hairdresser for me finally! Will definitely keep returning to you Guy If anyone concerns about hair, Guy is the guy for you. He totally gets it! read more

Review of Lindsey Joy at Guy Michael salon. Can I just tell you? Hair is a major pain in the ass, for me. I mean, I'm an actor and there are a lot of things I'm supposed to have a handle on that I wouldn't really have to give a damn about if I were say, an orthodontist. It's kind of surreal really, because the product I have to sell every day is me, and it's the same body I wake up in on Saturday, wandering hungover into the living room to pour a bowl of cereal while I'm watching cartoons. I'm a dude, and honestly, it is hard to care about spending thirty minutes on "coiffing" my hair. However, I also KNOW when it looks ridiculous- it's just that I have NO IDEA what to do about it. Are you starting to see my problem, here?... Now, take an already complex issue and add to it what seems to be a veritable sea of people who 'cut hair' barely above the skill level of the man who shaved me bald when I enlisted in the Coast Guard. I swear I'm not trying to be unkind, but there truly does seem to be a sort of template or cookie-cutter method to cutting hair out there, and unfortunately, I think my hair is a little complicated to deal with, cowlicks, etc., so I have often walked out of barber shops or salons wondering what just happened. It's not exactly confidence-inspiring to walk into an audition feeling that the least-prepared part of me is one of the first things people see... Enter: Lindsey Joy. I was referred to her by my manager, and it has been one of the best referrals I've ever gotten. From the moment I sat in her chair, it was pretty apparent that she knows what she's doing. This woman is a professional artist. Now, being a trained artist myself, please understand the weight that that term carries; I'm in show business, and if you're in it for more than ten minutes, you know the emphasis is on the word business. Good art sells for more money, plain and simply put, and if I look complete, together, when I walk into the room, I get hired at a higher level. I work my ASS off to be an A-level actor, and when I leave Lindsey's office, my appearance matches my other preparation. I have been a professional actor for almost 20 years, and I estimate that I have tried between 20-30 hair stylists. I cannot emphasize this point enough; Ms. Joy is an exceptional talent. I've finally gotten to the point where I simply walk in, tell her what role or character type I'm working on, and give her freedom to do her work. She has even taken a stand at times when I wanted something which was unwise for my facial structure, type, or age, (the common mistake that even Cruise, Carey, the other... Pitt... and countless other middle-aged male actors have made; that long hair is "awesome.") and she has been right. RIGHT. And I can trust her judgment in that it won't overpower the room and be all about my hair, but in fact it will be an essential and powerful addition to my product. I can't tell you how refreshing it is to get competent insight into an area within which I have no expertise. I may not book the role because I may simply have an off day, but my hair will be dead-on for me, A-list. I'll tell you how it really dawned on me that she was different; I noticed since I have been with her, when I wake up in the morning, I mean the minute when my head comes off of the pillow, it looks good. Erika just joined three weeks ago. I was with her at her previous salon for a while. I'd follow her anywhere! She's amazing. Alex is new too and he worked previously at the same salon as Erika. Both are absolutely great. Erika only accepts cash at the moment. Guy Michael is very nice. Spacious and very casual. I felt comfortable as soon as I came in. This is a review fro Erika - I found her by happy accident a few years ago and she is great! She cuts and colors my hair. My highlights/lowlights always look natural and have lots of dimension. I also just love Erika as a person, she is super easy to talk to, remembers all of her clients, and is always on time (which is amazing). Everyone Ive meet in the salon is very nice. Its a decent place, clean and comfortable. Not super high end, but still very nice. Only reason for 4 stars is parking. Its a pain in this area. Meters, but only for an hour. The garage valet parking is $3 which isn't that bad so I usually go with that. read more

Within that year, I have found either extremely over priced hair stylists or very bad hair stylists (my son has had more bad haircuts in LA than I care to think about). That all changed when I met Erika! She is the best! She is wonderful with my cut and color and she is also now cutting my two children's hair. She listens to what you want and then does it! This is my first time reviewing here in Yelp cause I think there is a need for it. For ERIKA to be exact. The first time I've been her client was exactly last year ago when she was back in an another salon. After a year, I finally thought I needed a haircut and make it dramatically short once again (like I did last year) and thought of Erika. I texted her Sunday, and after a few hours, she replied and said she's off Monday and Tuesday. Feeling bummed, I was contemplating of reading Yelp and look for another stylist instead, but decided to be patient and just wait for Erika. Fast forward to Wednesday, I was a terrible person and ended up being late for my supposedly appointment. Few minutes before my scheduled appointment (cause I thought I could make it) I texted Erika that it will take me 30 minutes to get there. Feeling scared that she might reschedule me for another day, she replied "It's okay!" so I was feeling so relieved. When I got to the salon 30 minutes after, Erika was just chilling on the lobby, drinking latte and cheerfully greeted me. Having not seeing her for a year, I was so positive that she wouldn't remember me anymore, but to my surprise, she did and she even asked about things we talked about last year and how those things turned out to be. And of course, as for the haircut, she was magnificent, just as what I was expecting. My hair turned out to be exactly what I wanted and maybe even better. My hair was so damaged from self-bleaching so I decided to let it be chopped off as I am pretty sure it is totally dead. Erika did a wonderful job of cutting it in a beautiful style. Best part, it is so inexpensive! I will never bleach or dye my hair once again, and will just let Erika touch it no matter what. She is my hair goddess! read more
