The staff at check in was great and made the check process easy. I had already filled out most of my information online but check in was smooth. I was quickly called back to an exam room and the attendant was professional and thorough. They explained they would need to take X-rays and that was handled quickly. However, once I got back to the exam room, the doctor took about 45 minutes to come to the room and do the exam and explain the X-rays. He was professional and explained everything in a straightforward manner and answered all of my questions. OrthoCarolina did a great job, it was the wait time that bothered me and there was no apology for the long wait time. I would recommend!

Had the occasion over the last few weeks to experience their sports medicine/physical therapy…read moredepartment. Outstanding. Drs. Anthony "Tony" Walker and Jennifer Hannon are a great team. They really know their stuff. Beyond knowing their stuff is their continual dialogue with patients. On each appointment we began discussing how the exercises were working, how I was feeling, what is working or not. Then we would get into planning for that day and going forward. I was involved in the therapy. And we continued in this joint planning over a month of treatments. They administer a tablet form of survey asking about your condition and how it is affecting your life. After the therapy has run its course you complete the same survey, so they have a before and after record of your condition. Impressive and given the people cycling through this practice it was clear that the facility and all the therapists were doing something special. Good resource for most all of us.

I got selected for a random drug test to continue my medication. I asked for the cost and was informed of the copay, nothing further. Well, needless to say I was shocked when I got a $200 bill in the mail for a drug test THEY wanted to do to continue filling a medication I've been on for 10 years. Not happy about this at all. I've never had to take one before nor was it a yearly requirement or anything. If you come here, make sure it's for basic requests because there could be hidden charges for anything out of the norm.

The mammogram ladies td were nice but I couldn't get one done since it was all "booked up" td n also in December tho I didn't see any other customer in the bus besides me. Even as I type this outside its door, no one has popped out. It's probably a quota thing... so many a day? They suggested that I go to the Waverly Novant for it if I needed it sooner. So, if you're needing a mammogram soon, u'll need to go somewhere else. Mine is scheduled all the way in January. Make sure u make an appointment asap. She described herself as "anal" and I will say, this lady is THOROUGH! She didn't miss a single detail of my family history, down to the health history of my childhood pet! When it comes to your health, thorough is the requirement. Her demeanor was motivating and she made me want to take a vested interest in my health. She was encouraging yet challenging in areas where I need to improve. She had just the right balance of both. One warning.... because she is so thorough, Dr. Tomcho's appointments might last a little longer than the in-and-out ones you may be used to with other providers. So, when I recently had a small medical issue that wasn't major, I decided to just find a local CHS-affiliated doctor's office to go to. The Medical Group of Waxhaw fit that bill, so I made an appointment to see the Physician's Assistant. She was very friendly and professional and I felt fine seeing her for a minor issue. She did bring Dr. Verrill in to consult and he was professional & friendly as well. I think if you are just looking for a decent family practice, they are just fine. However, I am not sure if I want to use this practice for my primary care though, as I normally like to select an Internist and unfortunately, they do not have any doctors on their staff that specialize in Internal Medicine.

They had "a note on my account saying I was no longer a patient" and the receptionist told me she had to talk to the manager about me before she could make me an appointment. Well she called me back hours later saying that she spoke with the manager and that things have changed since I was a patient and you are now required to join some MVP program for $1800/yr just to be a patient. My family has been seeing Jeff Seegers at Carolina Family Healthcare since he joined the practice. He is a great PA. I feel that he has taken the time to get to know each of us personally and he offers us the best advice and suggestions regarding our health and daily living. Jeff is extremely knowledgeable and up-to-date about both traditional medicine and alternative medicine. He is very thorough and caught things before they became problems. I highly recommend Jeff as your PCP. We receive our annual physicals, blood work, and immunizations at CFH and have always been happy with the service and care we receive. I think if you give them a try, you will be happy. I personally prefer a small, independent practice over a large medical conglomerate. I guess it's a matter of personal taste.

I switched from Atrium to Novant having spoken to several friends that had great experiences with Novant. An appointment was set at this facility for an annual physical. The appointment we as to be expected, patient history, family history, blood work. Now comes the issues. My test results came back. A "scheduler" call to schedule a follow up appointment. I asked why I need an appointment as I have yet to see my test results on the portal. I also stated that as an analytical person, I would like to have the results posted so I could see what issues existed and do my research to be able to ask intelligent questions. She said she was not able to do that. Ok low level employee, I understand as I do not allow my employees to release information either. Then I get a phone call from, Suzette Schlafly, the office manager. She informs me yet again that I need ro schedule an appointment. I again told her I would not schedule an appointment until I had the opportunity to review my test results and if necessary could the PA Samantha call me. It is at this point the conversation took a turn that I was not expecting. Suzette said that the PA does not have time to call me and that is not her job. Then she told me that I needed the appointment so they COULD TELL ME what my treatment plan WOULD be. She also talked down to me in a manner that inferred I was not intelligent enough to advocate for my own Healthcare. I was extremely frustrated. I told her that it was "my body, my blood and my choice" and she no no right to hold my test results hostage. I also told her that if I needed to set an appointment to get my test results the appointment would not be pleasant and they would regret the appointment if this was how they were going to unprofessionally conduct themselves. I called back in 2 days hoping someone in authority had understood that keeping a patient's personal test results and then talking down to the patient was not an acceptable approach. I called Suzette and asked if my results had been released to the portal. She stated they were going to release them onto the portal. They were never released them. I went earlier the next week and moved to another practice that have requested my test results and I have accordingly scheduled an appointment to discuss the results. If the office manager lacks the communication skills to speak to patients in a manner that is not; arrogant, demeaning and belittling she does not need to be in that position. She is obviously nothing but a mouth piece for the practice. As such, this reflects poorly on the doctors at this facility as this level of arrogance, belittling and manipulation either comes from the doctors, as this is their attitude or they do not know how to manage their staff. Either way this culture showing such a disdain and lack of respect for the patient and indicates you are but a number they need to process. I have never had a doctor's office believe they are so omnipotent and you the patient are so stupid that you are not allowed to see your test results from your own body. THIS HAS BEEN UNEQUIVOCALLY THE WORST experience in Healthcare and with a doctors office in my life. It ranks highly as the worse experience from a customer service perspective. It makes the visit more personal instead of feeling like just another stop in his schedule. I'm giving a four-star rating because the wait times can vary greatly. Sometimes I'm called back within 5-10 minutes of my appointment time, and sometimes it's 45 minutes or longer. Aside from that, I'm very happy with this practice.

The billing office will frequently code the visits incorrectly, leaving us to be on the calls for hours between Novant's billing department and the insurance company to dispute the bills. There appears to be major incompetence of the staff and billing support. I reached out to the office but they were unable to help.
