Welcoming, Clean, Compassionate, Caring, and Efficient. My Hubs was diagnosed 3 days prior to…read morebirthday in the month of June 2023 with non-small cell Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer. Unexpectedly found out he had 9 brain tumors and his spine and bones were riddled with lesions. Surprise to us because 2 months prior he had MRI that did not show anything of the sort. My husband had 2 back surgeries so he was quite on top of his Orthopedic appointments. Hindsight, I now see the vertigo, headaches, vision changes, hip pain were all symptoms of this terrible disease. We immediately began his brain radiation in Tampa and as soon as we could we switched over to the new facility in Trinity at FL Cancer Specialist with Dr. Wenk. My mother also passed from cancer few years ago also working closely with Medical teams, Oncologist or Hematologists are usually rigid or closed off which I can understand. However, Dr. Wenk and team are so opposite from the norm, they take their time with you to make sure one understands what is going on, the options, and are very compassionate. Dr. Wenk and team were very hands-on with Paul's care. They very responsive to me whether it was via phone or text. They were determined to give as much time as possibly could with hopes that the right medicine comes along to cure it even. The level of care here is beyond what I or even Paul expected given our experience with this disease and having to deal with different providers or advocating for our close loved ones. FL Cancer Specialist has a good system in place to make it run smoothly albeit there were times where there was a bit of wait or systems went down and yes, we had to re-do the appointment but overall the process was streamlined, you felt cared for not unimportant. In the morning a wonderful nurse would come out and give a positive message to all who were waiting, she help pumped up the defeated and uplifted those spirits that were down...you can feel the energy rise. Dr. Wenk is very special in what he does and I only wish we had more of him and that he doesn't burn out. He is super special in the way that he gives himself to his patient, their plan of care, they he meets them with empathy and works super with his staff. Thank you for the kindness and love that they gave us. For dealing with my Hubs when he got grumpy with love and patience. Understanding and comfort they met me with when I was so tired too, sad scared of the inevitable and not knowing how to do more myself for him, to save Us. I wish or have the Hope that they grow a department that offers more services for the Care takers, cooking support, mental health, therapist for the family ( the changes that inevitably happens) and the grieving that we do while we're still living and fighting the disease for both the patient and his/her family. Then the After. I can say to this day, our Dr Wenk checks in from time to time on me and I am filled with gratitude for that and the time that my husband was cared for by Dr. Wenk and the clinical staff at FL Cancer Specialist. I recommend this place whole heartedly. It is all in One place and with high technology. In fact we finished his radiation on his bone there and really wished we had started there from the beginning. They were able to correct the measurements that the other location were off, and again the entire staff was good to us and empathetic. A lot of ppl are in pain and suffering or high anxiety and somethings can be taken out on others...I think they train their staff there to handle those situations with such level compassion and positive redirection; a great finesse. Where my husband spent a lot if his time was getting his Chemo treatments or fluids, again the nurses there - they make it point to be efficient without giving up quality care and going out of their way to make the patient feel "normal" or happy or just let them be a grump _ they get to really know them and help the families too. The chairs comfortable, they really go ut of their way to make the environment pleasant and less of a hospital sterile feeling. I miss my husband so much and it has been hard to write all this so I am sorry if its bit all over the place. Bottom-line - I am glad they built and established this location and wish anybody going thru hard times so much love and luck. Finally, I highly recommend FL Cancer Specialist. we worked with Dr. Wenk and his team so of course I recommend however there are different oncologists and the nurses work together to make it what it is. I think anyone of oncologist are worth giving a try.

I was used to the location on MLK, in Tampa, which always ran as a well oiled machine…read more This satellite office is much smaller, but has a lab, that was very good. All the staff was very friendly, polite & professional. I saw Dr. Kumar, he had already reviewed my records from Tampa. We had a good discussion & I was impressed with his kind, even manner, knowledge & professional outlook. No long waiting times, & lol, much easier than driving to Tampa! What's a girl to do? I must respect & trust my doctors!
