During kindergarten, my son was placed in another classroom as he was already reading. When classes grew, they added another teacher and new classroom. When I met his First grade teacher today, I was informed that as the class enrollment grew to 30, another First grade class is added to reduce student to teacher ratio. I'm very glad to hear that. Although a public school, Alvah Scott has made extra effort to improve my son's math and reading skills. His addition and subtraction highly improved and is reading at 4th grade level by end of Kindergarten. I can say that my son's daily homework and constant monitoring by teachers really helped. I feel like I am back to school again to keep up with his school activities and homeworks. Yikes. To start first grade, my son is already enrolled to afterschool programs: A+ daily, Bricks4Kids on Thursdays and Sports Jam on Fridays. Yay! Keeping him busy to steer away from electronic devices.

I think its nice that the school allows these private school buses to use their parking lot so the children have a safe place to wait before heading off to school. It's great that the school is able to utilize the parking lot early in the morning for a worth while cause without disturbing their daily routine. This location is great...... there's lots of parking, it's appears to be a safe area and very accessible to the freeway. Thank you Pearl Ridge Elementary for helping to keep our children safe.

My daughter still wears a mask to school to be safe. We had a parent teacher conference here and my daughter is doing well in school. She's smarter than your average 6th grader. Restrooms was located next in the park next door. Although, the weather forecast said it would rain, we were lucky it turned out with slight sprinkles from time to time. The parking lots were situated perfect to hold the event which turned out real good. All kinds of VW models and lots of participation. I dj'd music and did some strolling magic throughout the crowd. I emceed and gave away lots of prizes. It was a beautiful event and everyone was happy.

It is a safe environment that feels like a small community. I truly believe that it takes a village to raise a child and I am so thankful for this school to help us raise our kids with good morals of just being loving and caring, just like Jesus did. I was worried about some private schools being politically charged but this school feels so safe and just focuses on teaching about God in a loving, non-condemning way. We are members of another baptist church but we don't feel any pressure to join their church either. My son is diagnosed autistic with ADHD and needs ABA therapy at school but the school was so accommodating, they helped us with our individual needs and the teachers are always willing to take that extra time and effort to work with the ABA therapist and set up meetings with us parents to see if our son needs medication adjustments. Thanks to the extraordinary support from the school staff, especially Ms. DK, my son has improved dramatically and we are so thankful for their continued support. Once you meet Ms. DK, you'll feel like you've been friends with her for a long time!!! She is that charismatic and caring!! Not only are the staff so nice, I don't think I have met a group of kids so sweet and nice. From 8th grade to preschool, this school is so good at encouraging kindness and understanding. I have never met teenagers so nice and polite!! They also encourage the older students to be chapel buddies with the younger kids so it is amazing to have amazing role models for the younger kids. Ms. Anu is an amazing science teacher and has many STEM activities and many students get awards when they attend the competitions locally and nationally. Today, he is a Captain in the Hawaii Air National Guard and a pilot flying C-17s GlobeMaster. How he got that far was the teachers, now most of them are retired, who prepared him for the future after middle school.

Celebration of Life in Aiea, Oahu, Hawaii…read more.. My parents' friends are passing away. It's sad because I know that my mom's turn will be coming... eventually... However, right now, I'm glad that I'm able to go with mom to these Memorial Services where she can see the friends that are still living. They don't get together as much anymore. It's too bad because they (The Gang) were very sociable in the past. Anyway... One of the members of their gang was Uncle Eric. He and his family are members of St. Elizabeth Church, so Uncle Eric's Memorial Service was held there. St. Elizabeth Church is a more established parish... they will actually be celebrating 100 years in 2025! They have a school in the next building. We weren't able to park there - which is good. We don't want to disturb the students. The parking lot for the church is before both church and school buildings. I drove slowly along the beginning of Moanalua Road and saw the sign for the parking lot. Right outside of the church, the family of Uncle Eric provided refreshments. We walked upstairs to the reception table, signed in, and then entered the air-conditioned church with beautiful stained glass windows and old school wooden pews. The lighting and sound system were good! We enjoyed a slide show of family photos!The musicians were stationed in the front on the right side. Everything went well! Afterward, the outdoor snack area had bento boxes and bottled water for guests to take home. Note: Restrooms were on the ground level by the Social Hall. I found a sign and followed the arrow... I'll have to return for a regular Sunday service. St. Elizabeth Church has a new, young priest, Father Arrion, who has a wonderful singing voice and threw some Latin passages into the mass! I knew before moving back that I wanted my kids to go to RHES and I'm so glad we waited on housing that would put us in the boundaries for Red Hill. I only have rave reviews about RHES. My daughters were both very lucky to have amazing teachers and by the end of the year we were all sad that they even had to move up a grade and were secretly hoping their teachers would decide to move up with them ;) so from our own personal experience, I completely disagree with the previous review and I hope my girls luck out again next year! RHES is really engaged with families. There's a ton of different events for families to attend throughout the year and parents are always encouraged (at the younger age levels) to volunteer to help in the classroom or chaperoning on field trips. The school is also really involved with their students. There are multiple clubs, student government and my older daughter was able to participate in an after school art program and free after school tutoring (which we felt was a great way to supplement what they were teaching in their classrooms). I was beyond surprised at their curriculum and at the many ways they taught it. I hate when parents complain when a certain subject isn't taught like how they were taught "back in the day". I feel like my girls have grasped a better understanding of not only finding the solutions to their questions, but understanding the entire process of how to get to those solutions. They were also pushed analytically and creatively this past academic year. As far as the rest of the staff at RHES goes: I always get a good laugh when I go into the office and the Principal was easy to approach and responded to emails relatively quickly (they are getting a new Principal for the upcoming school year). The support staff is wonderful and seem to really care about the keiki. Mr. Ernest, the custodian, is my absolute favorite. He came to talk with my husband and I while we were waiting to have lunch with one of our daughters. We realized we have a lot in common and he's a proud Waipahu Marauder (sorry, Mr. Ernest, proud Radford Rams here!) My only complaint the entire year was the issue with the parking early on, but like every other school on the island -- parking is limited! They eventually worked out the kinks and got a good system going. Another island wide issue is accessibility/security on campus, but I never felt like my kids were in an unsafe environment. Also, the DOE should consider using an online bus payment/lunch money tracker; it would make life a whole lot easier for parents and staff alike. Mahalo RHES educators and staff!
