I've attended this school back in the 90s for my entire elementary education. I was sitting with my sister who also attended and man do we have a lot of childhood trauma from this school. Our family was Christian and I can honestly say as an adult reflecting back at this school has really made me reconsider my faith. This school is so far away from Christianity, and for parents sending your kids here please do not be blinded by orientation and if your child tells you there is something wrong. Listen to them.
I'm not sure what requirements are currently for this school for teachers but at the time educational requirements were just to maybe a bachelors in religion I knew a few teachers didn't even have associate maybe a religion bachelors degrees. Textbooks were from a religious brand so science based facts are not always in the books. My father was absent in our lives, and we didn't really know him, after the divorce. The teachers Ms. Martinez and Ms. Tolintino brought up several times in class that "your father is a druggy" which lead to us being bullied. Being half Japanese and the only Japanese in my class at the time Ms Martinez taught kids the slur "japs" and kids would say "you japs going to bomb Pearl Harbor again?" Nothings more fun then religion and racism. The students would bully us in front of the teachers and most of the time the teachers would laugh /join in or pretend to be oblivious when my family would call and complain.
The worst one was Ms Dyson and her staff children. The kids could do anything they want including stealing money, and beating up kids for book fair money. Her kids were white military, and would spit, beat us up calling us "dirty japs" when we told Ms Dyson she would punish us and say we shouldn't have brought money with us and her kids would never hit, although her kids were obviously abused as well. They would come with bruises and black eyes to school. They would tell us we weren't allowed to use the microwave (only staff kids) and if we wanted our food we would need to tell them in the morning so they could put our food out in the sun.
The abuse looking back really is appalling and it shocks myself looking back at this. I really hope accrediting is in effect for private schools. This school has taught me a lot and made me grow up fast realizing that racism, white people are superior here, religion also justify the abuse. Also at the time they would also use a paddle to discipline the naughty kids. I remember it's usually always the boys that would get the paddle.
I don't know if the school is like this now, but this is only a few things that happened, and based on the 90s this school is overdue for checks and balances.
Notes to parents: if your kids are consistently having tummy aches, head aches, or always feel sick, it's usually internal trauma. Ask your kids if there is more going on. It's usually a sign of abuse and bullying. read more
