I started going to Dr. McCorry after moving to the west side of Grand Rapids about 3 years ago. I…read morefound that the size of the office, convenient parking and the individualized attention a welcome change from the large and socially distant offices downtown. Then I had something happen while vacationing that confirmed that I had the access to the best care in West Michigan through this office. After falling on a rock and doing serious tissue and muscle damage as well as exposure to unknown pathogens I had to fly 17 hours back to GR arriving on a Sunday and waited to call Dr McCorry's office Monday morning. He asked me to come in immediately and gave me the medical attention my situation required to head off infections and further damage due to potential blood clots. They began a comprehensive treatment plan that found me seeing the specialists that could diagnose and treat my wounds and carefully monitored my progress over several weeks. It is my belief that without that continued support and immediate care my situation could have easily resulted in nerve damage and serious infections. Don't let the smaller size of the office influence your decision about this practice. They're hardwired into west Michigan's best available medical resources!

He pays close attention, answers questions thoroughly, and speaks in a way that feels collaborative rather than directive. I never feel dismissed, overlooked, or rushed. His care feels personal and intentional, not routine, and it is clear that he genuinely wants to understand both my experience and my goals. That level of presence and sincerity is rare and deeply appreciated.

Dr. Bouwens listened to what I had to say, offered me good advice, and was genuinely concerned for my well-being. I actually learned things instead of feeling like I was just giving him all the answers (which is what I've experienced multiple times elsewhere). For the first time in a very, very long time I felt like I was speaking to a doctor instead of a businessman with a medical degree. He is knowledgeable, polite, kind, and helpful. I highly recommend him to anyone!

Her depth of knowledge on many different medical related areas is astounding. Equally important to me is the fact that she has a great way of dealing with her patients. She is always willing to take the time to first listen to me and even consider what I feel is the proper diagnosis. However, where she excels is she doesn't just say, no you are wrong I'm going to prescribe this instead of what you want. What she does is she listens to what I have to say and almost every time she patiently explains that while she can see why I think what I think, but in her years of training what the symptoms actually indicate is something different than what seemed obvious to me. In the end every single time she has been dead on in her diagnosis of my ailment. If you're looking for a doctor who is the perfect package of what a doctor should be then look no further than this fine physician because as a doctor she is the total package. I'm praying that she continues to practice medicine until I die someday because I know I will not be able to find another doctor to fill her mighty big shoes.
