I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Gunderson's Jewelers in Sioux Falls and to caution against shopping there. . I recently purchased a limited edition Seiko Prospex watch for $3,100. Despite the price point, the item I received was clearly a display model that had been previously handled. It arrived without the original hang tags or any of the protective stickers that are standard and expected for a high-end timepiece of this caliber. When I contacted customer service for an explanation, I was directed to a web developer who denied the facts of the situation and claimed that all watches are shipped in this condition. The lack of professional expertise and the refusal to acknowledge the condition of the watch is unacceptable for a luxury retailer. I would advise looking elsewhere for any significant jewelry or watch purchases, as my experience indicates a significant lack of quality control and professional customer support. read more

I've only been here three times, but I have always had 5 star service/experience. This last time I decided to buy a new watch with the sale going on. Beth was the sales associate that helped me out. She was knowledgeable, professional, and not at all pushy. I told her I would think about purchasing the watch and left with her card and watch info. This is one of those "if I could note more than 5 stars, I would!". This goes back to December when I brought in a Citizen watch to be repaired... a simple replacement of the crystal. Well during the process, the shaft for the hands evidently was damaged. They made three attempts to alleviate the problem with no success. Yesterday, I picked up my brand new (retail of $500+) thanks to Mark Johnson at Gundersons. They, obviously, believe in and adhere to their mantra of always a satisfied customer. I could not be more pleased and impressed. That level of service, these days, is tough to find. THANK YOU GUNDERSON'S!! How a business takes care of a customer speaks volumes. I cannot believe the audacity of some of the employees working at this business, and how they're even still employed here?! I get mistakes happen, but messing up on the order of a $1,500+ men's wedding band 3 times is a little absurd. Okay, sure, let's give them the benefit of the doubt that it was the company's fault they ordered through. After I thought everything was reconciled (we started working with a new saleswoman), we needed an appraisal sent over for my band (also purchased there). Abby, the gal we had been working with, didn't even remember us? It's comical at this point! We were just in a month and a half ago, for the last time we had thought to pick up my husbands band. (After being in 3+ times over the prior 2 months trying to straighten out everything!!) After over 5 hours and no email, we called back to check in and another lady named Megan answered. She told us Abby has been with a customer to which we responded, "For 5+ hours??". My husband finally said that they have been terrible to work with. Megan replied "Cool" and hung up! CRAZY these sales employees are working at a JEWELERY store selling thousands and thousands of dollars. read more

I had a very poor experience. I wanted to get a watch face repaired (it still worked but was scratched) They wanted my watch for 3 months as collateral. I told them I would pay up front and keep the watch. While my watch was getting repaired communication was terrible. When it came back, they did half the work I"d paid for. Apparently the service person didn't check the second page on the repair sheet. The attendant's response "would you like us to do the rest?" Yes please. It took almost another 3 weeks with terrible communication to get it fixed. During this time my wife and I also go our rings resized. Both came back small. I will not use this place again. read more

This place is horrendous, I would rather buy a ring from the Dollar General than ever deal with the rude customer service that I have received at the Sioux Falls location. Megan and the manager have the worst customer service skills that I have ever witnessed. I don't know how you can get a ring order wrong three times, and then after giving them another chance they finally got it right. Fast forward, I had to call them for an appraisal of the wedding band and they said they would tell our sales lady to email it over. Seven hours later still didn't receive an email so I call them back and Megan said that our girl had been with a customer. I replied, has she been with a customer for seven hours? Your store has been difficult to deal with. Megan proceeds to say "cool" and hangs up the phone. This place is a horrendous company to deal with, their yelp reviews are way more accurate than google reviews. read more

I had only one experience with Gunderson's, about a year ago. I came in to have a family engagement ring and wedding band re-sized. They took my ring measurement, but when I got the ring back I knew it was not right. I struggled to get the ring sizer on and off my finger, while the engagement ring slipped off with no resistance. I eventually needed to have it re-sized somewhere else. The wedding band was a better fit--ironically it was not the same as the engagement ring, but also looser than the sizer. At the same time, my fiance had his ring size taken. But after the whole sizing debacle, we decided to purchase elsewhere. However we made the mistake of using their measurements, and now his band doesn't fit. We went into another jewelry store and found that his measurement was actually a half size smaller. While we had good and friendly customer service, I will not be returning. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. The woman helping us was extremely rude. She obviously had no desire to help us at all. I have been planning on getting a very specific piece hoping to find it in stock some where or some one to broker it for me. So I know what it generally costs. She quoted me a price that was astronomical and laughed condescendingly. She wouldn't even let me look at any of the jewelry. I got the feeling she just wanted us out of the store. I left feeling like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Not a feeling I ever want to feel again! Too bad because I was planning on spending a lot of money. read more
