The horse will be safe and cared for with pride. The price is excellent (includes twice a day feeding ) and the grounds are beautiful. Wonderful views of the hills and rolling grass. The barn and facilities are well kept and very clean! The interactions with owners and boarders are excellent, creating friendships and an outstanding experience.

The bride and groom (grandson) were never contacted about the change of ownership and the new owners were not aware of the wedding when contacted the week before the wedding. The venue fee and deposit were paid in full prior to the ownership change as well. They were promised some things in the contract in regards to picture taking including pics with horses that were no longer there and pictures in the mansion, which they were told weren't available any longer. No compensation was made and the new owners made it very difficult to set up and clean up afterwards. The venue when we got there was disgusting, floor was covered with leaves and tables and chairs were old and quite a few were broken. Restrooms were filthy, and we had to clean them ourselves prior to the wedding. We made due with what we had and the wedding was beautiful. The next day we cleaned up and left the venue much cleaner than when we arrived. Unfortunately there was a bag left behind by accident that contained $3000 worth of linens and they were told they couldn't get back in to retrieve them. Not a good way to start their new business. Hopefully they can improve their service in the future.

Every horse is guaranteed daily turnout in generous pastures and the management goes the extra mile to match horses well into compatible turnout groups. The arena is a good size and is under improvement. There are miles of trail riding available. Board is reasonable, and all emphasis is on the comfort of the horses. It's a friendly barn.

As a neophyte to everything equestrian, I began the lesson with the simple goal of surviving what I assumed would be an hour of fear and embarrassment followed by an afterglow of melancholic guilt. Once the lesson began, however, I experienced several important revelations: 1. I'm a self-absorbed neurotic who overthinks everything. 2. Learning to ride is thrilling but not once did I experience fear. 3. Horses are incredibly affectionate and intuitive creatures. Interacting with them had a remarkably calming effect on my over-stimulated amygdala. 4. Natalie is an amazing teacher, with a pedigree of competitive accomplishments that were mostly lost on me. It felt akin to taking a drivers-ed class from Danica Patrick. It didn't hurt that the setting is beautiful and idyllic. The facility (Valley Dressage and Sport Horse Center) feels professional and well run but with a comfortable, informal atmosphere that I appreciate. Admittedly, I have nothing to compare my experience against, but my sense is that I was quite lucky to have taken my first ridding lesson with Four Star Farm.

It's a lovely place the instructor Lorraine is so good with the kids. She truly cares about the horses and her students. They get to learn how to ride and also how to actually take care and saddle the horses which is so important and awesome. We love the nature, they have other farm animals hanging around and a pond plus a little stream of water that my kids love to play in they bring their net and enjoy nature. I have a grey horse and he tends to find his poop and pee piles to sleep in, but the barn here is so meticulously cleaned that my horse is always white! Austin and Raul and the other barn hands make sure the stalls are immaculate. The tack room is nicer than most of my house. The bathroom is always clean and there's a fridge and changing area in the tack room as well. The feed rooms are set up in a way that each horse has its own bin and the staff is amazing at ensuring the grain is given as ordered. There are 2 turnout areas, a smaller one up by the barn and the larger ones down below. The indoor is LARGE with GGT footing and beautiful mirrors. The outdoor is large as well with excellent footing. BOTH ARENAS are dragged daily!!!!!! It's like fresh tracks every day! There are carts in the tack room so you can wheel your stuff to the cross ties on either end of the barn and the wash racks are set up really elegantly. The staff that runs the tour rides at the winery barn are also so sweet and polite! And they are always smiling! If your horse is not afraid of bunnies, like mine, you can ride the vineyard trails as well. Honestly, I think my horse feels like he's back in Europe! So glad to have this beautiful well maintained barn in Napa. And the board price is SUPER reasonable and there is NO nickel and diming for additional services like turnout, blanketing, etc. I can't speak to the previous negative reviews but if I could move into one of the stalls myself, I would.

PEDIGREE REVEALS HISTORY…read more The 1970's in thoroughbred racing were considered to the be Golden Age due to the 3 Triple Crown winners. I don't want to show my age but I went to Kentucky to visit the last two Triple Crown Winners from the 1970's: Seattle Slew and Affirmed. You can say that this past decade, especially the latter half, has been the closest to the Golden Age since there have been 2 Triple Crown winners. What interests me about thoroughbred racing is the history behind the pedigree. In fact you don't have to travel to Kentucky to see the descendants of the 3 Triple Crown Winners you can come to this farm. That's what I did during the week of July 4 when I went to this farm on July 2. I was met by the owner Ellen Jackson from the farm where she showed me around the farm. First she showed me barn where the weanlings are stalled. The next thing place I went to the barn where two-year-olds were kept. She also showed me the hot walker - a device for horses to walk around in circle as they cooled down. In addition I was able to go to fields to interact with some of the horses. I was there mostly to see the stallions. What a horse's pedigree tells you is the story in the its bloodline. The stallion Many Rivers, through his mother, is a grandson of Affirmed. In addition the father of Many Rivers is a grandson of another Triple Crown Winner Secretariat. During Affirmed's Triple Crown campaign his rival was Alydar. The stallion Idiot Proof, through his father, is a grandson of Alydar. The stallion Bold Chieftain, through his father, is a grandson of Seattle Slew. When it comes to petting stallions you have to be careful as they can be highly spirited due to their testosterones. There are other horses you at the farm you can pet. If you want to engage yourself to how a thoroughbred farm operates without going to Kentucky I recommend visiting Victory Rose.
