Because of their dedication, he has gained confidence, skills, and joy through horseback riding that we never thought possible. It is rare to find people who are not only skilled instructors but also genuinely caring and compassionate. We are beyond grateful for everything they have done for my grandson. I highly recommend this school to any family, especially those with children who need extra patience and support.

At almost $100 a lesson it's quite expensive but since the school covers it we wanted to let my daughter try it. it took a few days and a few phone calls to get someone to call us back. Once we spoke with the owner the rest went smooth until starting. On our first and second lesson the instructor was rude and harsh to my daughter. She basically called her stupid and had little patience. We missed her next 2 lessons because my daughter refused to go with out me there to say something if the instructor was rude to her again. This week we messaged the instructor that we would be there and we had been taken off the schedule with error communication. We will not be going back to this facility.

As a neophyte to everything equestrian, I began the lesson with the simple goal of surviving what I assumed would be an hour of fear and embarrassment followed by an afterglow of melancholic guilt. Once the lesson began, however, I experienced several important revelations: 1. I'm a self-absorbed neurotic who overthinks everything. 2. Learning to ride is thrilling but not once did I experience fear. 3. Horses are incredibly affectionate and intuitive creatures. Interacting with them had a remarkably calming effect on my over-stimulated amygdala. 4. Natalie is an amazing teacher, with a pedigree of competitive accomplishments that were mostly lost on me. It felt akin to taking a drivers-ed class from Danica Patrick. It didn't hurt that the setting is beautiful and idyllic. The facility (Valley Dressage and Sport Horse Center) feels professional and well run but with a comfortable, informal atmosphere that I appreciate. Admittedly, I have nothing to compare my experience against, but my sense is that I was quite lucky to have taken my first ridding lesson with Four Star Farm.

This review is for the current owners, not the previous owner with whom the venue was originally…read morebooked. The venue changed hands between the booking and the wedding. The bride and groom (grandson) were never contacted about the change of ownership and the new owners were not aware of the wedding when contacted the week before the wedding. The venue fee and deposit were paid in full prior to the ownership change as well. They were promised some things in the contract in regards to picture taking including pics with horses that were no longer there and pictures in the mansion, which they were told weren't available any longer. No compensation was made and the new owners made it very difficult to set up and clean up afterwards. The venue when we got there was disgusting, floor was covered with leaves and tables and chairs were old and quite a few were broken. Restrooms were filthy, and we had to clean them ourselves prior to the wedding. We made due with what we had and the wedding was beautiful. The next day we cleaned up and left the venue much cleaner than when we arrived. Unfortunately there was a bag left behind by accident that contained $3000 worth of linens and they were told they couldn't get back in to retrieve them. Not a good way to start their new business. Hopefully they can improve their service in the future.

Every horse is guaranteed daily turnout in generous pastures and the management goes the extra mile to match horses well into compatible turnout groups. The arena is a good size and is under improvement. There are miles of trail riding available. Board is reasonable, and all emphasis is on the comfort of the horses. It's a friendly barn.

Came out here for work. Part of UCDavis, this outdoor research facility is a working 300-acre ranch…read morewhich monitors a range of agricultural practices like cover cropping, drip tape irrigation, etc. Parceled out in neat rectangles, this allows to monitor and study soil science to see what is optimal for producing crops. I didn't see any horses, alas, but the folks who work here are very passionate about their work and it is a great way to gain hands-on experience about sustainable farming. Soil is tested to see what results in better soil health: organic methods, conventional, etc. I am obviously not a scientist so forgive the butchering of terminology. (We did an informal science experiment where soil samples were tested in water to see the rate of disintegration. I was gently reminded that we were observing "soil aggregates" dissolve and not "dirt clods" as I wrongly suggested. Ha ha.) They do offer tours! Flying Horse Farm may just be the best kept secret in the area.  It is a beautiful and well kept…read moresetting with amazing amenities: 3 large arenas, one covered; twice daily cleaning, matted stalls with generous shavings, fly control and fans in barn, roomy and clean tack and grain rooms, etc.  Had to move my horse to a new location due to a severe eucalyptus allergy and that's when I found Flying Horse Farm!!  Dani is the owner/hands-on manager and is quite horse savvy. She and her son work unceasingly to make it a great place for horses and owners.  Dani has an amazing natural rapport with animals as evidenced by the puppy rescue she is also involved in.
