First off in am not a type of person that leaves reviews and this will be the first time but i have enver done a review. I have installed PPF on over 15 cars from corvette, Mercedes, McLaren and now my new ZR1 c8. I never used Gulf Coast Auto Shield before but was recommended from friend that did his GT3 with them. John the owner is great and door always open to all his customers and welcomes going to see the process while working on our cars. (trust me i was probably there every day) I did full PPF and it is the best job i have ever seen or done on any of my cars. My PPF installer was Sergio and it was perfection i had to try to find the ppf on the panels and it looks like he did not install PPF... IT IS THAT GOOD!!!!! I didn't had a good experience with Gulf Coast unfortunately. Based on online reviews and recommendations from fellow BMW owners I decided to get front PPF and full car ceramic coating from Gulf Coast. I was committed that the car would be ready in 3 days, however after 5 days it wasn't ready and I was told to pick the car up, when I got their I found out the work wasn't completed. Then again, I dropped my car for two days to complete remaining work. When I went back to pick up the car, it was still incomplete. I was just surprised from the poor level of service from John, didn't expected that. In terms of work done there are few areas where PPF sheet isn't properly tucked in, again disappointed. Lastly, I wasn't able to drive and enjoy my new car for two weeks, just went through a lot of stress for no reason. It seemed like they just care for existing customers who give them continuous business or have fleets they send to Gulf Coast for work. I can't comment on any of the work done which does look excellent. I can say that I requested a quote on the website contact, and called twice, over the span of 3 weeks or so. Was told after my first call that I'd get a call back. Didn't. Called back over a week later, was told they would call me right back within a few minutes. Glad I didn't sit around waiting for the call. Additionally, during the first phone call, when I was discussing what I wanted with the representative on the phone (who is not the owner / an installer but still), did not seem to be aware of what products/services offered. Just had my Model 3 tinted with XPEL Prime XR at Gulf Coast and they did a great job. Amazing work around the windows, they shave the tint around the glass since the window is frameless there is no line making the tint look factory. Also they tint the large back window in one piece which is more difficult but looks perfect. Some shops only tint to the defroster line which is not a good look. Since the shop is about an hour from my house I had to hang out but they took care of my car right away. Comfortable waiting room with drinks, snacks and a nice couch to relax on if you are stuck like me. Looking forward to doing business with them again. read more

My new car was the unfortunate recipient of a shoddy PPF and tint job from the dealership. Many places with dust caught under the film, and the panel edges were crooked and left too much paint exposed. The tint had many large bubbles that would likely never completely go away. I was kinda stuck though, because I had purchased this car out of town, had flown in to take delivery and drive it back to Houston, so I wasn't too keen on driving all the way back just to have them attempt to fix it and mess it up again. John to the rescue! He called the installer at the dealership and sent photos of the many defects, and they agreed to pay him for re-doing it all. What a night and day difference. Not a single bubble in sight, no specks, and alignment was impeccable. Ditto regarding the tint. I also got a ceramic coating, and it is so smooth. For comparison, I've had PPF done by a couple other places in town, and Gulf Coast Auto Shield is hands down the best. Plus, their prices are VERY reasonable, much better than what I had paid the dealer! Most PPF places showcase their work with photos of the entire car or most of it, which is an inadequate demonstration of job quality. At the dealer, my car looked great from far away too. I've included a couple of up close photos to show how precision of the film alignment. It's probably difficult to see the film edges in the photos, even in person it's difficult! The best way to assess the quality is to visit the shop and see for yourself in person, truly amazing. John is the owner, he answers the phone himself, and takes pride in his shop and his work. He is very dedicated, staying after hours and going the extra mile. From advocating on my behalf to the dealer, to the flawless job on my car, to the prompt communication, working after hours to get my car back on time (even though I said "no rush"), this shop is just incredible. Historically, I have never done anything to my vehicles but just recently, had two cars taken care of by John and his team. I can't say enough about John and his team - they do a bang-up professional job and are easy to work with! I had the team protect my 144" high roof Sprinter 4x4 van when it was brand new. I did a fair amount of research, including visiting 3 of the top shops in my area, before deciding to go w/ Gulf Coast. I had Expel PPF applied on the front end, hood, A-pillars, above windshield and on the rear side flares; Feynlab heal lite ceramic coating on the entire van; Expel ceramic tint on all glass; and Gtechniq coating on the windshield. John gave me solid candid recommendations and his team was transparent throughout the process. They really did a great job and I'm very impressed w/ how water sheets off the entire van. My wife had her new car XPEL don't at the location on Brittmoore and they did a fantastic job, there were a couple door cups that needed to be redone and Vince was super responsive and got them done in no time. I then brought my car to have its old film removed and XPEL put on the front end. Again, they did a great job and the car looked much better with the new film on it. They even went above and beyond and added film to places that were getting road rash even though it wasn't part of the package I paid for. I live north of Tomball and ordered a 22 C8 Corvette at Classic Chevrolet in Sugar Land (great place to purchase a Vette). Initially I wanted the dealer to install some aftermarket items, window tint among them. That notion didn't work out very well timing/communication wise, so I searched the net for a shop with a long history of great reviews and in close proximity to Classic Chevy. GC Auto Shield checked those boxes. I literally took delivery, made a phone call and drove directly to John's shop (5 miles?). Upon arrival I had some discussion with John, chose my crramitint and was in and out in a little over an hour. While there, I (any customer) was able to tour the shop watch the install and take notice of all the activity going on, nearly all of which was on high end vehicles. In a word, I was completely impressed with what I received and what I saw. So much so, that I will now make the drive to have these guys install Exoshield and PPF in the coming weeks. I'll also encourage my daughter (lives in The Woodlands) to make the journey and do the same when she takes delivery of her new Ford Bronco in a few weeks. I can't believe how long it has been since I left my last review. As a repeat customer of John and his team I wanted to post some thoughts on why they are ranked #1. I had them do some work on my Model S and it had a fender bender. John took the time to find someone to help me and assured me they would take care of the issues that came up. It was great to have his help. Everytime I have called John he finds the time to listen and offers solutions. Sometimes they don't benefit him. That is a real sign of integrity. I just upgraded to a Model X and I knew it was time to get everything done from the Xpel Clear Film on the massive front windshield... WOW what a great benefit to have that heat rejection in Houston heat. I had the front end wrapped in PPF and they took the time to clean up the paint issues that Tesla's are known for before applying the film! I had the paint correction across the entire vehicle, and it actually looks better than when I picked it up from Tesla. I had the nanocoating applied and it just adds so much depth to my paint and I know it will make washing the car that much easier.. Lastly when I picked the car up, there was a ding in the rear end. Originally I was going to leave it.. but John suggested paintless dent repair and I was truly shocked at how good it came out. I have spent many days working with John over the last few years and I never stop being impressed at how he handles so many customers. He makes each one feel like they are the only one! John is as honest and earnest as it gets; I probably don't need to tell you that those are traits absent from most people in the automotive services industry. John and his team deliver the utmost quality and have deserved pride in their workmanship. Before meeting John, I made the mistake of going to another well-reviewed shop here in Houston to have my brand new Shelby GT350R fully wrapped with a paint protection film. A razor was used against the paint and the clear and color coats were scratched through. There was hair, dirt, etc. under the wrap. The OEM vinyl stripes were cut in multiple locations. John and the team at Gulf Coast Auto Shield came to my rescue. What John took on was a project; not just a wrap, but a full-blown restoration of paint, sourcing of parts, disassembly, reassembly, outsourcing of work to vinyl shops, etc. He did it with the utmost in professionalism, with regular communication, candor, and empathy (which was very welcome, as I was rather upset over all of this). I have entrusted my TESLA Model S to John and Gulf Coast Auto Shield since I purchased her several years ago. John and his crew have installed Xpel protective film on the entire car, Opticoat on the entire car, Exoshield windshield protectant film, and Blackvue 750S 1080p front and rear cameras, and now replaced my black calipers with red calipers. When someone hit my car in a minor accident, I called John who recommended an EXCELLENT collision repair shop. Once the repair was done, his crew picked up the car from the repair shop and re-wrapped the repaired area and coated it with the ceramic coating. He also drove the car to TESLA Service center for my maintenance appointment. This is way above what any company will do for their customers. But guess what? This is the kind of customer service that you can expect if you are a patron of this business. I call John for any and everything concerning my car. I kid you not. I am sure there are some other things I can have John and his crew do for me. I am always looking to have something new done. We purchased a new Infinity QX80 in black and we were looking for a good way to keep it clean and more swirl resistant. If you have a dark color car you know what I mean!!!!!! We spend a whole day on a sat or sun detailing our cars. It gets old after a while. I wanted something that we did not have to wax (or as often) and would help us keep the exterior clean. With some goggling and days of research we stumbled upon OptiCoat Pro 2.0 (has to be installed by a detailer). From what i understand Opticoat Pro 2.0 is like a harder clear coat that makes washing your car much easier, more swirls resistant and maintains that "just waxed look" every time. We found that the product has been out for some time and has excellent reviews on car enthusiast forums. Johns @ Gulf Cost Auto Shield's name kept popping up in many of the forums (Tesla, BMW, Corvette, Mustang, OMercedes and Porsche). We gave him a call and he explained the process and the product. Luckily he was able to work us in his busy schedule. He worked on the QX for over 14 hours. He washed, prepared, paint corrected, polished to get out any existing swirls and then detailed the car using Opticoat Pro 2.0. He also took the time to take off each rims and applied OptiCoat Pro 2.0 to both the outside and inside of the rims. This is supposed to make brake dust come off more easily with a light wash. He applied OptiGlass and Opti Lenses to all the glass and headlights/tail lights. I was very impressed with his level of detail. I am OCD about keeping my cars clean and John took the detail to the next level. We like his work so much that we had him he come back two months later to work on our new BMW M5. He went through the same steps as before and also added a product called Modesta BC-5 to the paint work. The total detail time was 20 hrs of hard work! The car looks amazing. We have had the QX with Opticoat long enough to attest to the product and Johns work. This will be going on all of our new cars. read more

I had to get a paint protection film installed in the front end of my vehicle. I reached out to these guys for a quote, and it was a great experience. John was amazing to work with- he was available every time I called to check on the status of the car. They did an amazing job installing the film and completed the work right when they promised. The film is practically invisible with seams folded around the body panels where possible. John also offered to show me how to wash or polish the vehicle properly to minimize swirls and scratches. Very happy with the tint done on my Lexus SC430--a tougher tint job and notorious for peeling because of the convertible top and tight seals. It looks beautiful, my car feels much cooler while driving and hopefully the tint will protect the interior and leather seats from the sun.
