Before I get into the negatives, I must say I really liked the haircut I got from Gia. Even though she did cut her hand while giving me a haircut (which did not inspire confidence) I did really like the end product. She also trimmed my beard, which was a nice touch. That said, I arrived 10 minutes early but still waited 30 to get my hair cut. The waiting area was nice and the staff was attentive, but there were two employees out front doing what seemed to e personal work. Do they not have a break room? It's hard to recommend this place. The service was good but pricey and the overall experience was not great. It is a nice space and it was busy so I assume there are many that like it.

He asked for a blonde buzz cut, which online "starts at $150," I would personally assume it would be around $150 because dying a buzz cut shouldn't require that many products or time. First, he put the bleach on his long, very curly hair, which caused it to be patchy at best. He then gave very specific instructions for his haircut of "2 on the side and 5 on top." He left the salon with an uneven haircut, and patchy/uneven blonde going all around his head. I really can't believe they allowed him to leave like that. In addition, he paid $205, for a second bleaching service that he didn't get to get to his desired blonde, because he didn't have the materials and his color specialist wasn't in. When these issues were brought up, they offered to fix it, but at this point he, nor did I, trust them to fix anything. He ended up offering a refund for ... the service he was charged for and didn't receive. Since then, he has gotten no response. I'm posting this because it was something he was excited to do and a luxury for a man to go get their hair dyed in a salon, but he ended up spending more than he'd wished with a haircut and dye job that he had to get fixed elsewhere, which obviously cost more money. Not only do I think he deserves the refund for the service not recieved, because why was he charged in the first place, but a refund for everything, because letting someone leave with a clearly uneven job on all accounts is sloppy and unprofessional.

From the moment I walked in, the shop had a welcoming, relaxed vibe and everyone was friendly and professional. Helene is amazing. She really takes the time to understand what you want and pays attention to every detail. I never felt rushed, and she made sure the cut worked well with my style and face shape. You can tell she really cares about her craft and about making sure her clients leave happy. My haircut came out clean, sharp, and exactly what I was hoping for. It's always a little stressful finding a new barber when you move to a new city, but Helene made the whole experience easy and comfortable. The shop is super clean and has a great local barbershop atmosphere. The place is decorated with Atlanta memorabilia, tattoo art, and other nostalgic knick knacks. I made an appointment for a haircut and beard trim using an App and was taken in for my appointment bang on time. Jay is a good conversationalist, and asks you many questions about the cut and style you want. He got to work and he took his time making sure he was checking in with me. I got a high fade and I felt like he listened to everything I said. He could work with my hair texture and style it just right! End result - a great haircut, just like I wanted. I tried out several barber shops in Midtown, Downtown and Buckhead, but nothing comes close to West Barber Shop. I made an appointment with Kevin on his website for a haircut, beard trim, and straight razor hot shave. For the haircut, not only does Kevin have incredible attention to detail when cutting your hair, but he also does a straight razor shave on the back of your neck, blow drys your hair after the cut to make sure you don't leave the barbershop shedding hair, and styles your hair with product. Kevin cut my hair so that I looked great when I stepped out of the barbershop, but I also looked great after my hair grew a little bit after a couple of weeks. For the beard trim and hot shave, Kevin made sure to blend my beard up to the side burns and he lined up the check and neck lines perfectly. The straight razor hot shave was incredible. He warms your face with a hot towel, and you get a super close, clean shave with a straight razor. You can tell that Kevin and the rest of his team treats their customers well because as I was sitting waiting for my haircut, clients would walk in and chat with Kevin or another stylist as if they've been friends for years. West Barber Shop feels like an Atlanta landmark with a signed picture of Coach Paul Johnson at Kevin's styling station and an Atlanta United championship banner in the waiting area next to the nice leather couches.
