Ever since I have been going to Franz (over a year), he has charged me $25 for my basic haircut and I tip him $5. This last time, he said $35. When I questioned him, he shrugged his shoulders. Shrugging shoulders is NOT an answer. And to think, he doesn't always get the stray hairs that I don't catch until I look at the mirror in my home. To even begin to think his work is worth $35, he would have to do a far better job. I was initially impressed by him because when I suffered a stroke last year, he seemed caring and offered advice. Now, that his weekly revenue wasn't what he expected, he chose to overcharge me. That won't happen again.

The location is a bare bones barbershop, and some decorating is still happening from her recent move across town. Gula welcomed me and asked what I was looking for, and then proceeded to exceed my expectations. Great conversation during my haircut, but not the forced conversation of a typical of a haircut. Was finished in no time less than 30 minutes (huge plus in my book), without trying to sell me any un-neccessary products. We had been waiting a while - not an unreasonable amount of time, but waiting nonetheless - when a relatively young looking barber walked in and asked us if we needed a cut. My son said sure, and the barber walked him to his chair. Normally, and maybe I'm jaded, but I've been going to barbers before I could spell my name, and you typically don't go for the barber who asks if you need a cut - you find who the barber everybody is waiting for and wait for them! When the barber left the shop for a little bit suddenly, my apprehension increased substantially! However, I didn't realize he had went to the hair supply store to get supplies for the type of cut my son had asked for.
