    Guitar Guitar, Glasgow

This is a really impressive huge store I've never seen so many beautiful instruments all in one place! Everyone was very helpful and friendly when my husband and I went in there the other day for the first time. This place has an impressive range of guitars, amps and accessories of all kinds. They claim to have Scotland's largest guitar selection with over 1000 in stock and the UK's largest Gibson and Epiphone range, and they offer part exchange as well. Billy is a fully qualified luthier and extremely good at what he does; see him right away if you need any repairs or set-ups to your guitar, we can recommend him without hesitation.

Dos thou Rock, Thrash, Pluck, Funk,Groove, Hammer or Mash? Well if so, and you happen to do any of these things on a guitar shaped instrument, then this my good friend may very well be the place for you. This place is lovely. With an excellent range of guitars and gear all laid out in a browsing friendly way, which is nice as some places can be a little cramped, leading to an awkward feeling when the staff start looking at you, sniffing out a sale. I like this joint. Been in a couple of times and never at any point did i feel like a piece of shit. Any part time players out there will know the feeling of walking into a guitar or music shop and having the eyes of the lank haired neck shredder follow you in a " you ain't a player" kind of way. Ok, this place is still run by "guitar guys" and any stupid question is still likely to raise a tut or smug chuckle, but hey that's pretty much par for the course. hit this joint if your on hunt for a new axe or just fancy a lovely wee browse, yum, tasty.

Guitars....everywhere! Being a guitar shop, you would expect this, without a doubt, however, this place is actually CRAMMED with guitars, and guitar related items. I narrowley avoided a catastrophe in here the other week as my bag hit one of the guitars, and I could see one of those horrible cartoon domino-effect scenes where everything falls with an almighty crash, and I'm standing in the middle looking sheepish. Luckily, one of the store assistants caught the first guitar before any damage was done. Needless to say, I felt like a complete tool - he assured me however that it happens a lot. Right... Anyway, they have a massive selection of guitars, and the staff seem to have a handle on the situation (waaaay!), so I'm sure if you have any guitar related queries, they'll happily sort you out.

I had no place else to go.. that I could be bothered going to that day. Just happened to walk home a different route that day from usual and seen this place. Right there, winking at me. All I was after was a set of Elixir guitar strings for my acoustic guitar and that's exactly what I got. They also gave me a receipt. How lovely. It's quite a small shop, where they have a small selection of amplifiers, effects pedals and other electronic equipment like lighting as well. It's a crowded little store but one that is worth checking out as some of the gear looked thoroughly lovely with one guitar in particular calling out to me in a sexy voice. I dare say you would be able to get these guys to drop their ticket price on their gear with more success than the other big shops in town like Guitar Guitar who are more centrally located and will generate a more steady flow of customers. Great spot a few minutes walk from central to grab accessories if you're on your way to a practice.

I found one particular member of staff to be less than helpful - actually discouraging me from wanting to buy anything - let alone the guitar I was interested in. I was looking at a guitar, I wanted to try it with a view to buying a fortnight later, but unless I was wanting to get it then - I was on to plums. It's a shame because I normally find that they have a good selection of instruments available at some pretty reasonable prices. Not been in though since my last visit almost a year ago...I bought the guitar I wanted from elsewhere. I paid a weeee bit more for it too, but I was just glad to have been able to part with my money from somewhere else. Mr Music when it used to exist was MUCH better than this place IMO. The guys in there couldn't have been more helpful.

I only really dive in for accessories, but bought my electric out of here some years ago under the old name. Managed to get it down to £250 from £320 or thereabouts. It's got a good selection of products including amplifiers and pedals. I know a few people who have got bad service from here with regards to employees recommending a certain sort of guitar strings 'as a beginner' etc. A decent enough music store with a good selection but there are a few other big ones in Glasgow that will always get my business on big purchases ahead of this one. Recommendation: shop around.

The guitar and amp offers aimed at the beginner are good value, but most of the stock is aimed at the semiprofessional. The staff are always happy to help and will, at the merest request, unlock cabinets and show you whatever it is that you asked about. This can get a bit much: I asked for a price on a microphone and they handed one to me to inspect, pointed out the features and explained how it worked. I had no idea what they were talking about, due to my own ignorance... I think this sort of quality service is wasted on me.

I took this old electro acoustic in and they knew exactly what the issue was and gave me a few options on some possible other work. I stuck with the basic option and they happily obliged. Whenever I go for my next guitar or gear, then I'll definitely be stopping here to check out the options.

The range of guitars that are stocked here is incredible. Just about every brand of guitar I am familiar with was present here. Electrics, acoustics, electro-acoustics, classicals, 12 strings... you can find them all here. And it's not just guitars. Amps, strings, bags, straps, picks, tuition materials are all to be found. The prices are surprisingly reasonable. I was looking at Freshman acoustics and was very pleased to find them at a price not considerably more expensive than if I were to buy them online (usually a lot cheaper online as they don't come with the same warranties, standards of service etc). Furthermore, there are a great selection of second hand instruments available at respectably discounted prices. The staff are very easy to approach and very helpful. A pleasure for any existing or potential guitar enthusiasts to visit, even if you don't have an intention of making a purchase.

Merchant music…read more This is a great company to buy from. Let me enlighten you. I first heard of them via the "Total Guitar" magazine, as they use to advertise for mail order. Then I discovered they were actually in Glasgow. After a few looks back then, I decided to buy 2 expensive Yngwie Malmsteen guitars, with the candy apple red version having to get imported from Holland. They had gave me a great price as I bought the 2 together. So I made this a regular stop for buying things. The guys know their stuff, and are not pushy compared to some other shops. This shop is bigger than their old store, and yet again, rather than focusing on one price market of customers or genre. They have brands to suite everyone's needs. Looking for a Vai guitar or Satriani? They've got it covered. Along with lots of prestige Ibanez guitars, and a few really cool 7 strings, including the Vai Universe. This was a place I always remembered as having a great selection of guitar effect pedals etc and cool amps. If you are wanting to go from a budget small Line6 or Roland combo or maybe an amp stack to blow your socks off. Then this is the place to sort you out. I'm the old Proprietor of the recording and rehearsal studio "Power One" so I know the good equipment from the bad. And it seems these guys know the good from the bad too, and boy, don't they have the right selection. If you are looking for this place, then it's a stone throw from "Guitar Guitar" If you are looking for a good guitar for your kid starting out. And maybe Santa Clause has not packed his bag. Then swing by here and have a look. They have a web site too. And if they don't have what you are looking for, then they will get it in. And to be honest. They are fast at getting it in. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. And I'm sure you would too. I'm thinking of getting a new sexy guitar soon. And I'd trust this place to sort that out:)

That being said, I only really pick up strings and accessories nowadays. It's quite small inside and as such, the selection is limited. Sometimes I just like to have a stroll around a music store and have a look which is easier when it's a large store because you can go unnoticed.. but it's not so straightforward in here. Having said that, they are cool with you trying out guitars on amps and the usual pre-purchase proceedings.
