I ordered a LTD ESP guitar. It was on back order but they were very good about letting me know how far out it was. I've been playing for 39 years and I've never had an ESP LTD before. I was very pleased with the way it was shipped. The tracking number and when I make my modifications to it there's no better luthier in the Tri-State than Joe who works at guitar center. He does all my work. He set up my Ibanez my Gibson and he's always done a wonderful job and he's got fair prices. I highly recommend this establishment for all your music needs read more

This guitar center is understaffed and the employees are rude. I came in to sell drums and was told to come back in two weeks. Nobody answers their phone so I have to drive out to speak to someone. I was told to come in Saturday so I did. I packed up my drums and drove in with 2 kids under the age of 10. When I got there at 3 like I was told I was treated rudely by the "drum guy" who said he was too busy to do it. Avoid this Guitar Center at all costs. I bought online at the Cincinnati, Oh. Guitar Center 613 a used Roland synthesizer listed in "Great" condition. It was packed very well but when I plugged it in and turned it on, the LED screen lit up but nothing showed up in it. I turned it off then on again and only half the screen came on for a few seconds then disappeared. It was obviously a defective LED screen. I looked on line and found this to be a common problem with this model. This keyboard should never have been accepted at that store to be resold, and especially listed in "Great" condition. I returned it to my local Guitar Center for a refund. I will never buy from this store again. read more

Never thought I'd ever have to write a Yelp review, but here I am. Today, I went in to pick up a Roland Gaia 2. The Springdale location is the closest to me, but it's still a half-hour drive from my apartment. I called ahead to make sure they had one in stock, and the very annoyed employee who answered the phone (I did not get his name) said, and I quote, "We definitely have one in stock." So, a few hours later, I made the journey to go pick it up. After waiting in a short line, I informed an employee that I was there to buy a Gaia 2, and he said that he needed to check the back because he wasn't sure if they had one in stock, which made my heart sink. He left to go check the back and told me that they didn't have one, and none of the other locations in the region had one in stock either. I had been looking forward to purchasing a synthesizer for quite some time now, and to say that I was disappointed is an understatement. If the employee I had talked to on the phone had taken the two seconds to check their stock and tell me they didn't have one, I wouldn't be writing this review. A part of me believes that my experience at the Springdale location might be due to the fact that I am a woman hoping to join a male-dominated field, because I have dealt with sexist employees at this location in the past. It's safe to say that I don't plan on returning to this location or maybe even Guitar Center in general in the future. i've never felt the need to write a bad review for a business ever and normally give the place the benefit of the doubt. i went into this guitar center looking to purchase and to maybe sell an old guitar i do not use. i was met by a bitter employee who was very unprofessional and decided to take my business elsewhere and had no problems. after reading some reviews for this place online i can see i'm not the only person who was in shock at the way i was treated. i see the owner replying to bad reviews saying the problem will be taken care of but obviously it has not. whoever i talked to was obviously upset about something (i was made aware by the employee that the store is currently having a bed bug problem? which isn't my problem even though the employee acted like it was. i immediately went home and ran the clothes i was wearing through the dryer at high heat, i recommend you do the same if you visit this store). this is a corporate chain store and i recommend supporting a a local guitar shop instead. I've never had a worse experience as a potential customer ever. i hope guitar center truly can fix this for the sake of any future customers (i won't be one of them). Thanks read more

I purchased a $350 record player from them under the assumption that I could bring my old one in and trade it in for $60 off as I was told by a associate. I purchased the new one and go to bring the old one (works flawlessly with original box and packaging just wanted to upgrade) to be told they wont take it now (It's a Audio Technica) while I was in the store while an associate was on the phone for maybe a minute and a half with someone about it now I feel it's a bait and switch to get you to buy but once it comes down to discounts they slam the brakes even though I was also planning on buying another cartridge set that's made for 78s. I love the new one but now I feel I would rather my money to go to more honest and reliable people and I'm tempted to return it. Shop carefully...... Edit: I've decided to return the turntable and shop somewhere else as another place that's a authorized seller of Audio Technica has offered to cut me a nice deal on the same turntable along with a cartridge assembly that I'm interested in taking them up on. read more

I've been coming to this Guitar Center for over 5 years and my last two experiences have brn absolutely awful. Completely rude store manager, staff lies over the phone then when you come in they tell you something completely different. Im not sure if it's under new management or what but they could definitely use better. I used to love this Guitar Center but will now only be going to Florence. read more

Highly recommend! Bought a new acoustic guitar from Jerry and a few months later started taking lessons from Andrew Walits. Jerry was so helpful and Andrew is a wonderful instructor and has already after only a few months, taught me so much and keeps me working on new skills. Haven't been to Guitar Center in a while and today refreshed my memory. Why advertise a 15% Labor Day coupon you can't use? The money is not important, but the fact that the coupon got me in the door just to get denied is annoying. And yes, it was over $199.99 and it wasn't a sale item. I see Sam Ash in the distance and shall make my way. UPDATE: Just wanted to update my review based on how quickly the company responded. I did actually go to Sam Ash and they did honor Guitar Center's coupon and I picked up a new sweet Takamine for 15% off. That being said, I would still shop at Guitar Center's based on their quick response but the sale was done and I spent the rest of the night strumming a G string. Play on. read more

I went looking for headphones and headsets today. Someone from an Apple store at Bridgewater Commons in New Jersey suggested that I try Guitar Center and it seemed a good idea. Considering that there was a location available here and I was back from Jersey, this seemed an opportunity. I was assisted by Morgan and he showed me 2 pair of Shure ear buds. They weren't his style, but they had them available. The prices were as good as J&R in New York City. He pulled out a pair of Beyer Dynamic (what he used) over-the-ear headphones for $229 and let me listen to my own music with them. They were phenomenal, especially for the price, but they're big, bulky, make my ears sweat, and they're not a headset. The sound was incredible, though. I'm incredibly pleased with the level or service, and while he wanted to make a sale, he tried not to pressure me. It still felt like there was pressure, but that was 99% me. If you can get similar prices in a brick-and-mortar store, why go with mail-order or online stores? read more

Today I called the Guitar Center's customer service to ask a question about my order. It was the worst experience I've ever had. My question was about a keyboard that I ordered a week ago. It supposed to be brand new but it came as an open box item without an instruction, warranty, and original box. They even put a wrong cable that doesn't fit. The keyboard was dirty and scratched. I wanted to ask if I can replace it with a new one. The consultant was extremely rude. He didn't listen to my questions and always interrupted me. He kept saying "just return the item". I didn't have a chance to ask his name because he dropped the call. read more

Great customer service here. Each member of the staff that I have encountered has been very knowledgeable and helpful. During my initial purchase the sales person took a lot of time to explain which Uke might be the best for me. He thought a bag was included with my purchase, but when they found out it wasn't, they made it right and gave me one anyways. Both times I visited were extremely busy and the staff stayed efficient, calm, and collected. Nice selection and good prices as well! read more

We had taken our guitar to the Dayton location and the repair tech there was not helpful. I called the repair tech at this location and he said he could take a look and diagnose right away. We came in, thinking we would have to send it back to the manufacturer, and he had it fixed up right away. He even explained what happened and how to fix it easily on our own. The staff here is awesome!!! I bought my one year old daughter a keyboard for Christmas and they helped me through the entire process! Super personable and will not allow you to get things you do not need, which is awesome for a center who specializes in music! They don't try to sell they just strive to meet your needs! I have had good experiences here in the past, the pricing is very competitive and the selection is great. although recently i had a bad experience. They were advertising a certain cable of relatively good quality at half off, but when i went there to buy three of them they had a no-brand cable instead of the brand name one on sale. they claimed the website was wrong, even though it was the national website. they cable worked once and now fall easily out the the microphones and continue to lose connection when they do stay in. i will continue to do business with them as i have had good experiences in the past and i'm sure they will take the cable when i return them. read more

I called to ask a simple question about a Marshall tube amp and couldn't get a straight answer. As a matter of fact, I was told to go look on YouTube. Someone who works at Guitar Center should know the ins and outs of something as common as a tube amp, but this guy didn't. The sad part is this was the 4th Guitar Center I called and 2 wouldn't answer their phone and the other didn't know the answer to a simple question either. Very friendly staff.. I always buy my drumkit stuff from here.. I am not good at tuning drumkit, but the staff helps me tune the kit free of charge, and they are happy to do it.. So whenever i put in a new head from my drums, they make sure my kit sounds great.. They also have great collection of instruments and have used gear as well.. Only problem is they are pretty far from where i live, but i would still return due to excellent service..! read more

I went in last night to sell used gear that I bought from here. The people were extremely rude up front and sent me another person who sent me back saying that they just didn't want to work. When I came back they were very resistant to helping. He said a bridge was coming up on one of my guitars which was not and gave it back and just said "yeah, no. You can take this one back". I went to Sam ash after being so mad. they said it was not coming up and took it for $150. Along with this, my friend also brought a Martin in and they said they'd have to do a basic set up for $50 to even give him a price. They were going to charge him to sell his guitar. I was extremely disappointed in the service and offers they made. I say this strongly, I will never buy anything from guitar center again. read more

I bought a guitar and amp at cinti store in april. I did not unbox amp til around 1st of October. The amp out of the box produced very little sound. I took it to the store the person plugged in and it did as I stated, and someone walking by said it is blown speaker, and then person testing it said same. Amp was never taken to full volume due to issue so I am suspect that speaker was blown, more likely some connection. That being said, I did not open it past their 45 day return, and it was my issue. What really bothered me was that first they could not find the purchase of amp in their computer although I bought same time as epiphone guitar which they found. The box for amp I brought in for it was tagged all over guitar center kemper rd. They did eventually find it and stated that they could not help me, and that they could give me number to linex but again they would not be able to help me. they probably did not believe that I just unboxed it, which I understand, but it was defective out of the box. I just hated the way they kept saying we cannot help you as if move on your wasting my time. I ordered replacement amp (fender) from amazon with 1 day delivery at good price. Guitar center does not have to worry about helping me again!!!!!!! read more

If I could give them a negative 100, I would. I ordered a Gibson SG on the website, paid for it, and when I didn't hear anything back after 3 hours, I went there to pick up the guitar. I showed the guy behind the counter my order and he checks in the computer and said it looks like it was in the "warehouse" (whatever that means). After a little while longer, he says "It looks like it was already sold before you placed your order." WHY IS IT ON THE WEBSITE IF IT WAS ALREADY SOLD??? Needless to say, I was PISSED! However, there were a couple of other guitars I checked out on their website that were actually there. After trying them both out, I decided on one of them and called the bank to get them to release the authorization on my credit card for the guitar I had already purchased which, of course, had been sold. The customer service rep from the bank said I would have to have the store call them to get the authorization released. Of course, by the time all that was said and done, they were ready to close. What difference would a few extra minutes have made? Answer: I would have left with a guitar I would have been OK with even though the one I really wanted wasn't there. The guy was too preoccupied with closing and going home to take care of a customer who had been terribly inconvenienced! I say to hell with all of 'em!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! read more
