I had not been to Dirt Cheep Music in over 30 years (no kidding!) and I had been keeping my eyes open for a small, solid state guitar amp that I could leave at a remote location for playing in case I got bored there. Lo and behold, I happened to be on S. Cobb so I whipped it in to DCM to see if they had something for me. Bingo! Steve put me on an 80's model Peavey Bandit, made in USA, and perfect for what I need for under $90. Exactly what I needed and it was indeed Dirt Cheep. THANKS STEVE!!!!

(Including band instruments and pro audio) They are happy to trade and we generally always work out a deal fair for both of us. And that's half the fun! The essentials like guitar strings, etc are always priced attractively. Most of the time similarly priced as Amazon or GC so you can grab them the same day and support a local family-owned business at the same time. If I need a suggestion their combined decades of experience as a family-owned business is always spot on. And unlike the corporate big box stores, every time you go in there you'll see the same crew. They'll know you by name, keep a list of things you're interested in and it's just a top notch experience.

My son needed to pick up an acoustic guitar and the staff could not have been more helpful. They had a roomful of choices and expertise on each. Store manager Jon Bon insisted on restringing the floor model for him. He and Billy Darling have been on the staff for decades. Added a hard case and off we went. Great experiences like that you can't get online.

There is no voice mail. Service phone often rings for 20 rings (gave up after then) and never is answered. The people in the store know about these problems, but the corporate office does nothing to fix it. The corporate call center went so far as to tell me they couldn't control the hours on Google. What? Again, less than stellar workers. Also, personnel is not properly trained. ie: I was told I could get a flute repair done in a week, then I found out it was a month...after I flew to the USA with my flute from another country. So, I bought a new flute. I asked the service department to check it over completely as I did not live in the USA and wanted to make sure there were no issues. Note this was a rather expensive silver flute. They gave it to me saying it was perfect. Well, it wasn't! The interior was filthy...used. The f# key leaks. I am flying back to the USA. It took me 12 phone calls including 2 useless calls to the call center before I could speak to someone. I was promised a call back from the call center in 40 minutes. Never called. Bottom line is, good selection, knowledgeable sales people, lousy service and not the brightest in the call center. I think some of the staff is good at some of the stores, but really, they need training.

I'm not the best at practicing all the time and as a child I was notorious for quitting extracurriculars (classic Millennial). Well, almost a year later, I'm dedicated to my weekly lessons with Nick. His studio is an intimate space for fostering creativity and collaboration, and I can't say enough about his teaching style. He is encouraging, patient, talented, and depending on what you'd like to learn, he can run through heavy music theory or help you figure out how to play your own stuff. He really tailors lessons around your own goals. I brought in some difficult starter music and instead of telling me to start with something easier, he helped me pick it apart and take it piece by piece so I could eventually play what I wanted. I highly recommend Sound Space and hope to see Nick's business grow - it's so incredibly inspiring seeing someone so passionate about what he does (and a wonderful person, to boot) become a blossoming success at his dream. So well deserved; I'm privileged to be a part of it.
