Bought a used guitar from this store and it was sold as excellent condition, I even spoke to someone on the phone who said that the guitar was pristine, clean and like new. When I received the guitar it had multiple deep scratches, it was beyond dirty and neglected and the case was covered in mold in mildew, and there was no truss rod wrench or whammy bar as promised. I called the store and was basically told too bad too sad as excellent condition is just an opinion. I returned it to my local store although they were not happy about it. Do not trust the personnel at this store and honestly with my experience do not trust Guitar Center at all. I have had multiple issues with this company . The personnel at these stores have no idea what they are talking about most of the time. They just don't seem to care about the individual customer. read more

Worst place ever. Steve is so incompetent and keeps charging my card after we've cancelled our membership in March. He keeps calling and offering lessons and we decline and I'm charged $119 yet again. I have filed fraud charges with Chase Bank. Not only did they take time to explain the pros and cons of various pieces I was interested in, they were very helpful in determining what would be the right fit my musical tastes. In response to all the people who took the time to describe their horrendous experiences in visiting GC I feel your pain. But I would say that's to be expected by a company owned not by people who actually care about the product they sell and their customers but rather is owned by a consortium of investment companies only interested in the bottom line and their millionaire investors. I had a very...unique experience at this GC location today. First, I picked up an Epi Les Paul to play and chose an amp. The first amp I tried had a cable (bolted to the amp shelves right next to it) that did not work. An employee said something to the effect of, "Oh yeah, I think that cable's broken..." and continued on. He offered another, but I declined and moved to another amp and cable while the worker did nothing to address the broken cable. Next, I picked up a Jackson Randy Rhoads V and plugged it in only to find that it was broken. The 3-way toggle switch was completely destroyed and the guitar was still on the sales floor! Shocked, I put it back in favor of a (hopefully operational) Schecter. The Floyd Rose precision tuners on the Schecter were so out of whack that some strings couldn't be tuned properly! I finally found a Kramer that was playable, but obviously beat up from being on the sales floor. I left shortly after and found instruments in much better condition at Sam Ash in Franklin Mills. read more

When this store opened, it had a great range of instruments. There was something for everybody. Now? Not so much. It is mostly low end instruments in the same 4 colors over and over. That however is not what this post is about. Within the last year, Guitar Center has changed a number of policies. One of which is that the prices are no longer negotiable. This is because of another important policy change. The employees are no longer paid on a commission based system. Unfortunately, now the staff has no motivation to sell anything. I wandered around the store aimlessly for almost an hour before somebody asked if I needed any help. It isn't like the store was busy. It was dead. I was trying desperately to spend a 10$ gift card I was given. Finally, I just got fed up and gave the gift card to some guy as I was leaving. I like to imagine that their holiday business must've been so good that they didn't need my money. During the course of my wandering, I watched a guy attempt to buy a guitar cable. He placed it on the counter. The clerk was rearranging the effect pedal shelf and looked at him. 5 minutes later, the guy said something to the kid along the lines of when you get a minute, I want to buy this cable. The kid just continued what he was doing. A few minutes later he checked the guy out. That seemed really rude and wrong to me. The GC in Manhattan is awesome. The GC in Cherry Hill is infinitely nicer. Do yourself a favor and find a different GC where they might be interested in helping you instead of chatting among themselves. They clearly have no interest in making sales or keeping the store stocked. read more

I went in there yesterday looking at combo bass amps that were powerful enough to be a main rig. The person that helped me was a bass player, and he had experience with different combo amps. He told me what he thought the pros and cons were and let me play around on them as long as needed. I went with one that was not on sale that day although it had the sale sticker, but he gave me the sale price no question. He even got me drum sticks for my drummer as I played. Extremely nice. Extremely helpful. Great customer service. I've been going there for 20 years and don't plan on stopping any time soon. read more

Employees are either rude or completely aloof. I was trying to grab a telecaster off of the third row up in the guitar section and couldnt manage to get it off of the hangar. I was clearly visibly struggling, and all employees around were talking to someone else or just playing on their phones, so I climbed a few steps up the ladder right next to it and grabbed it from there. After I had already stepped one foot down back onto the ground, some little dude with a beard from across the store yells "You can't use the ladder!" and walked over and proceeded to yell that again 20 more times in my face. I countered with "well maybe if one of you could have helped me out I wouldn't have had to." When I was done with that guitar, I just left it lying on a case below the hanger. Another employee said to me "are you gonna hang that up or..." and I replied "I'm not allowed on the ladder, am I?" Every other time I've been there the employees were just f**ing around instead of helping me out. Except Ludwig, that dude was really nice and helpful every time I was there on his shift. read more

The guys in pro audio rock. Very nice and honest and helpful. Unfortunately I am a guitar player and can never get a guitar salesperson to help me. If it wasn't for the pro audio guys, it would have been a one star or even a negative star. I have actually had to go to pro audio to buy guitar strings since I couldn't get a guitar salesman to sell me any. I went there to buy a used guitar that they had there, it was only around $1,700.00. There were a couple of salesmen at the counter in the center. I stood in front of the guitar for a half an hour with like tow other customers in the store. There were more salesmen than customers. When I couldn't get a salesman, I called the store from inside the store and asked about the guitar, figuring a salesman would come over and I could corner him. He just left me on hold and never came over. I finally went to the managers desk and he got this little chubby salesman with a beard and greasy hair to climb the ladder hand me the guitar and walk away. It's an electric guitar, how about asking if I have a pick or want to plug it in to see if the electronics work or how it sounds. After about a half an hour he never came back. I went behind the counter with the guitar and figuring someone would tell me not to go behind the counter, but no luck. I finally just left it on the stand and walked out. Next time in I asked about a guitar that was their deal of the day. He said he knew nothing about the guitar and just it was the deal of the day. I tried asking him again if they had it in stock so I can see it and he just goes, deal of the day. I tried one more time with the same response. Can you at least look and see if you have the guitar in the store or tell me something. this guy is totally useless and will do nothing to help a customer. I have spent at least $40,000.00 on guitars at the guitar center, probably even more. They need to get salesmen that are willing to sell a guitar. I wanted to buy the guitar, but I just couldn't get a salesman to sell it to me. They guitars that they are now carrying are lower end guitars and anything that is decent in the acoustic room is locked up. I prefer better guitars, but they don't get a lot of them there and when they do, it is to much trouble for the salesmen in the guitar department to sell one. I don't know how they stay in business if they don't want to sell guitars, but yet there were three salesmen telling someone with a $30.00 ukelele about what great rock stars they are, trying to impress them, but guess what, everyone in the guitar center plays guitar, so you arent impressing anyone. You are there to sell guitars. read more

After my local GC didn't have the item I needed in stock, I was so desperate that I traveled 3 hours by bus (each way!), cross-county, to Oxford Valley Mall, and across the street to GC. Everyone was so helpful that I was in and out within 5 minutes, with item in hand. If my impatient guitar noob side rears its head again and Plymouth Meeting is out of stock, I'll be back. But next time, with a friend who has a car. Crossing Lincoln Highway from the mall was an adventure within itself... read more

Terrible customer service and poorly organized. Went with my husband after Christmas to purchase an electric piano. We checked online in advance to make sure they had the model he wanted in stock. When we arrived they couldn't locate either of them. After wandering around the store in a daze for a few minutes the greasy derelict who was "assisting" us offered to ordering the model for us online which we agreed too, he then turned around walked away and started ringing up other customers without a word. This was a great experience. I went there to better my recording equipment and just had an idea of what I needed, but once I'm in front of too many mics and headphones, speakers and such, I get overwhelmed and I don't really know what to look for. I asked a manager and explained what I needed. The young man (Early 20's), directed me to an even younger man at the sound department, named Jesse. Within 5 minutes of me explaining what I needed, Jesse knew exactly what I needed and narrowed down my choice according to my budget. From going to this type of store for many years now, I knew that I could apply for the store credit card, which I did, and as soon as I knew my spending limit, I decided to upgrade everything. I spent maybe one hour choosing and asking a lot of questions, and Jesse was always there to answer. He never showed boredom and was genuinely there to help me in my investment. Because of the many things I bought, he even helped me to my car. It is rare to find people like that, but this store seems to have a few of them, and I highly recommend you to ask for Jesse, John or another older gentleman that was also knowledgeable in terms of sound equipment. read more

Sweet mother of GOD has this place gotten terrible!!! The only real saving grace of this place was it's selection. They always seemed to have an abundance of really decent and cool looking lower end and higher end guitars, and for the most part you could play them. The drum, keys, bass, pedal and acoustic departments were always really good too. The problems were: the rotating staff, most of whom always seemed to be miserable and were welcoming on taking it out on you. The fact they never asked anyone to check volume, so every little jerk off in the county would blow out your eardrums and drown you out playing bad Metallica and Blink songs. The fact you always had to buy a case for anything even if it was supposed to come with one. The consistent lying about offering you a proper price on your used gear. And just the general douchebaggery associated with instrument stores, especially around here. Straight up, the gear selection sucks hard!!! They've got less than HALF of what they had before. The place looked empty in comparison. The bass room is barren. What's left of the basses are on the wall outside, and the room had like 3 amps and about 4 guitars in it. It looked like a storage area. One of the pedal cases WAS storage. Just storage. No gear display, just overflow. I swear 2/3 of the guitars on the wall were $99 Indonesian Squiers, Ibanez & Epiphones. They had like NO PRS guitars, and maybe a dozen ACTUAL Gibsons. and 3, THREE lefty guitars in the WHOLE STORE. THe amp shelves were spacious and looked like swiss cheese. The only selling point of this place was the gear selection. Everything else detrimental to this place was still there (kids, stop playing Metallica songs on cranked amps, you all suck and you sound like shit. Also, stop sitting RIGHT NEXT TO PEOPLE AND CRANKING THE AMP IN AN EFFORT TO SHOW OFF!! LITTLE BLOND JERK OFF WITH THE LEFTY SG AND THE FAT LACKEY FRIEND, LOOKING AT YOU GUYS!!!) There IS some nice gear there still, but nowhere near like it used to be. And considering all of the other drawbacks that come with this place and area, thats' saying A LOT! read more

They make it clear that they only care about the sale. I have bought thousands of dollars of equipment from them: they don't even remember my face. I overheard two of the floor people talking and lamenting customer questions ..and how they answer them to get the customer out of their hair. I only go there if I know what I want. I hope all the stores are not as bad as the Langhorne PA store. read more

Great place to buy stuff. The repair shop is slow as all hell took 3 days just to get a setup done and I had to pick it because it took to long so I didn't even get it. Whole deal takes and hour and and half tops you can't get that done in 3 days. read more

I took my heavily abused and humidity ignored JF-55 in for a tune and adjustment after I played it for the first time in months. It sat under our bed for the better part of 4 years. Needless to say it played like crap. Kyle was the young man who noticed the saddle coming up ( reason it played like crap) and offered two options, taking time to explain pros/cons of each. Chose to have saddle reglue. Eric was the luthier who did the work. When I picked up my guitar, Eric explained how bone dry my guitar was and what I need to do to avoid in future, took about 30 minutes of his time to explain what he did and why and what I should expect in future with my guitar. Got my guitar home and played for an hour with a big grin on my face. Feels and plays like I remember prior to the years of abuse and neglect. All in all , it was a good experience. read more

I purchased a Washburn Accoustic on 3-21-16 from John E.N. for $149.99 plus case $89.99 At the time we discussed my trading in an Epiphone Dot VS electric (in mint condition) in a $100. case. I indicated my trade price would be $300..........to my mind fair. When I brought it in Today 3/26/16 the best offer was $200.........I did expect to speak to Adrianna..... but I feel I was steered away from you. They don't care about customer service. With the exception of a few employees, they are lazy, greedy, and are on an imaginary high horse. I've spent a lot of time and money in this store so I know it well. I stuck around so long because the quality control on their new items is pretty good. Besides that, local stores are your best bet, especially for repairs, upgrades, and setups (don't trust your good guitars with them, find a freelance guitar guy or local store). Lastly they are usually very understaffed, especially lately. Having to wait 20-40 minutes for simple transactions, each employee is helping 2-4 people at once. If they hired more people, increased their standards and hired people with better attitudes more suited for competitive retail environments and paid them accordingly, they would have a great store on their hands. But going back to my first sentence, they just don't care. read more

I bought a majority of my recent gear from this location, including an acoustic-electric Ibanez, Rode NT1A, electric guitar, speaker system, midi keyboard, dynamic mic set, etc. The list goes on. It's always been my go-to with great customer service, great prices and honestly no complaints about my purchases. Walking into GC is like a kid in a candy store! Pure excitement! read more
