I came to DS Studio last week, after buying a Groupon for a Keratin straightening treatment…read more I was a little freaked out at first by the fact that there were basically no reviews on this place, but I took a chance and went for it. When I got there, the place was completely empty except for two guys working. In fact, the 2 hours I was there no one came in nor did the phone ring. Granted it was a Sunday morning, but still. I was a little scared. My appointment was with Diego. I had never done the keratin treatment before, but I had my hair japanese straightened once before. About the keratin treatment: WAY simpler and WAY better than I thought it would be. I highly recommend anyone thinking of doing it to do it. I hated my hair after I had it japanese straightened (see my review on Hair Village, gag), but I LOVE my hair with the keratin. Definitely do it. About Diego: He made me nervous because he seemed nervous. The way he touched my hair made me feel like he'd never done it before, and he kept walking away and asking who I assume is Demetris questions. However, he did a great job, and was super nice. I underestimated his talent. He also does a mean blow out. I was impressed. After my appointment I couldn't wash my hair for 3 days. Today I woke up and was finally able to wash my hair, and low and behold the treatment did exactly as it promises. My poofy frizzy hair is soft and beautiful despite the nasty NYC humidity. Long story short: This place is brand new, and does really good work. The salon was cute and clean. I can't speak for any of their other services, but I'm in love with the work they've done on my hair. I absolutely recommend doing the Keratin treatment.

Harold Egan. That's all I can say. This guy kills it. I had the opportunity to have him work on my…read morehair when he was freelancing in New York. He was trying to find "the perfect salon" to suit his "style and professionalism." He talked to me all about how important customer service is to him and his ideals about hair color. I didn't know anyone could care so much about hair color, but this is clearly his passion. I take my hair color very seriously and can get unrealistically distressed when something goes wrong. I'm a big believer in natural looking hair with a hint of pop to make it stand out. He totally gets that. I was flipping through magazines (looking at clothes and celeb gossip) and he kept pointing out what made the models' hair so beautiful. A highlight there, a gloss here. I really didn't understand what he was talking about, but it worked...My hair looks amazing! I have a photo shoot coming up so it needs to look incredible and it does

Haircut itself is done properly but that's not what i wanted. At all. I said I want long bangs, he said I have to trim everything a little bit to blend it. And i agreed. But he cut a lot. Its so short up front it disturbs me every time i look in the mirror. Overall very bad work in my opinion and people who saw me. After years of taking care of my hair and having it long, I have to cover Angelo's bad work with extensions and another layer of highlights.

In addition, I have purchased some of the products he used on me at the time of the visit. These products are amazing. I use the shampoo and conditioner, which leave my hair so soft and shiny.
