I AM THE FIRST YELP REVIEWER for Ninja Tag!…read more Wow, I am impressed no one on YELP has reviewed this entertainment venue. I hope my lengthy review will entice you to try at least one and to let you friends and family members know. Of course, any events like these, please take safety precautions. From the outside, does not clearly say NINJA TAG, it says TAG, but the door says the entrance on the other side that says to use the new entrance around the West side of the building. When you enter you would be greeted by the front desk to fill out a paper waiver. Normally it would be a digital waiver on the screen, but the program isn't working at the time I went. One game is $10.00 and you have 10 minutes to complete the recorded game stats. But you can stay longer to just practice after your scheduled time. I stayed like 2 hours there and continuously played the different stations. They require you to purchase the non-slip socks that you wear when playing. It is an additional $3.00. And unfortunately you cannot wear your own non-slip socks from other events, it has to be the ones they provide. Plus they also get you to purchase a wristband which is another few dollars. Overall it was around $18.00 for this activity. The wristband can be reused, but I forgot to ask if you could reuse the same Ninja Tag socks. They have bins off to the side of the counter to store you clothes and shoes. For safety and security reasons, you can store your valuables like phone/keys/wallets behind their customer service desk. After playing for 2 hours, I found the stations fun and some challenging. Everything inside is very well lit with red and it feels like you are in a dangerous warzone of entertainment. The most fun station would have to be the very first station because you get to run up a sliding hill and the goal is to TAG with you wrist the colors. There are 5 levels of different colors and if I recall correctly, I was able to get to the 3rd color BLUE. Please make sure after you have tagged the color to go down the hill like a slide on your back and arms in the air or close to your chest. Avoid the elbows and knees touching the slippery floor, you can skin your human skin. I did this slide multiple times and skinned my right knee. It feels like a bruise but after a few days, my knee aches to walk. I have been applying Polysporin a medical cream every day to speed heal the skin. It seems to be working, but still very painful.

This review is specifically for the pool(s). The facilities are really good, although the changing…read moreroom/showers are fairly primitive. The salt water pools are both nice--a good sized lap pool and a warmer leisure for water walking and kid fun, as well as a river for floating and relaxing. There is also a giant water slide. The downside is the management of the pools, or lack thereof. Don't expect rules to be enforced, especially in summer, when the lifeguards are almost exclusively teenagers. Kids play in the lap lanes, which disappear with little regard to the schedule. I saw a child dive into the shallow end of the kids' pool and not one of the three lifeguards said anything or perhaps even noticed. Usually there's only one swim lane during aquafit, even if the class is sparsely attended. If you want equipment--water weights, for instance--you often have to hunt down someone to get them for you from a back room. Most gyms I've been to have that equipment readily available. During aquafit classes, the music is so loud that the people in the water often can't hear the instructor, and the instructors are already miked. The volume is headache-inducing at times. Additionally, the music itself is generally very bad. In the morning, it's the same hits of the 70s on a loop ("American Pie" every morning gets old quickly) and in the evenings it's even worse. Little effort seems to go into matching what people in the aquafit classes might enjoy--it's just typical aerobics music, with no imagination or common sense put into the song choice, given that the majority of the people in the classes are 65-plus. (Pre-1960 music actually had a beat--people jitterbugged to it!) I mention music because it's loud, there's no escaping it, and having contemporary country (for example) blaring in your ear isn't always what you want when you're trying to unwind after a long day.

South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre - Weight Machines

South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre

*Review mainly based on Gym*…read more South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre is a community centre that has plenty of activities going on everyday of the week - from Art Classes to Badminton to Basketball or Spin Classes and more, there is bound to be an activity that will get you moving at all ages! My main use for South Surrey Rec. is for their Fitness/Gym Centre. Plenty of floor to ceiling windows allow for natural sunlight and openness, and the wooden beams add a rustic feel but all of the modern fitness equipment will definitely satisfy all your fitness needs! Also, I love all the mirror space so you can watch your body mechanics and check out your gains! ;) There is a dedicated section to all things Cardio - from ellipticals, treadmills, row machines, step machine, and stationary bikes. There are also different types of those machines so you can test out which machine works better for your body. On the other half of the gym, there are plenty of free weights (up to 75lbs) and cable machines. I appreciate that there are 3 squat racks and a smith machine - so plenty to ensure you don't usually have to wait for one to become free. Plenty of other equipment if you're not into machines either like TRX, medicine balls, bands, etc... There is a good amount of free floor space with individual mats with mirrors for other activities as well. They even have rollers too for your tight muscles. Inside the gym, there are 2 water fountains, washrooms for men and women, a scale and they have lockers (bring your own lock) and cubbies for your belongings. Air-con is great and the huge ceiling fans allow for great air flow - I don't ever feel stuffy or smell the gym stink. And to keep it that way, make sure to wipe down your equipment with the provided paper towels and spray! They play music overhead, sometimes softer but sometimes on the louder side - but definitely bring your own headphones if you prefer your own music or you don't want to hear people grunting as they work-out. Staff are around for help and they clean up around the gym from time to time. A majority of the time the bar weights are misplaced but you can generally find enough of them and don't have to go on a pilgrimage to find the weight you want - but there are labels so put them in their rightful place for good gym etiquette! Overall, this is my go-to gym. The space is huge, clean, great machines, weights, and free parking - plus if you have a Surrey Gym Pass, you can go to all the other Recreation Centres in Surrey! So get your heart pumping and muscles moving to burn off all that food you're enjoying!

What a great facility and much needed upgrade in the City of Langley! If you visited the old…read morefacility then you'll know what I'm talking about. Firstly it is a beautiful, well laid out facility. The space is modern looking, open and inviting. There is a huge living wall, plenty of wood throughout and the water fountains have water bottle fills so they can gauge how many bottles have been reused rather than purchased and potentially thrown out. So smart! There is a nice games room out front and a well appointed workout room, a large gym that can be split into smaller courts to accommodate smaller game play. Above the gym is an indoor walking track. There are also a number of multipurpose rooms to rent. Timms offers a bunch of different classes throughout the year. I appreciate the building because it's a really meeting place, fairly central and easily accessible to anything in the city. Lots of parking below and across the street at the Langley Mall, I haven't ever had to walk far to get back tui my car. I'm addition to that the building also houses the Mayor and City Council Chambers. Go check it out! I like it!
