Super 8 by Wyndham Salem - Dreadful light projected right on my pillow and in my eyes

Biggest problem was the lack of being able to use the room darkening drapes, as they were mounted on the sides of the window and not movable. Window only had a sheer curtain (okay for daytime) but at night, certainly not good enough for privacy. As second floor roomed faced the rear and a open farm field, it was passable, UNTIL the parking lot lamp post came on. It was like the sun shining in (directly on my pillow). I managed to grab two clothes hangers with clips and attached them to the side drapes to pull them together to block the light. As long as I didn't stand up, it worked. There is no reason to have these darkening drapes fixed so they cannot be used. I like it dark when I sleep and some people may find a need to sleep while still light out. Management deciding to do this to the windows made a big mistake. Bathroom appeared clean enough, but the seat on the toilet was very loose and slid off the bowl. Having owned a small resort, the best thing to do is to stay in the cabins yourself, to see the problems a guest may have. Unless, they want to issue sleep masks at check in - redo the window rods so they can be used properly.

Found this place in a travel guide book and thought we'd give it a shot. Called to book and $49…read moreafter taxes seemed alright. The male clerk who booked me was very friendly. Upon arrival we noticed the sign was lit up and looked kitschy and fun. One of the rooms had a pumpkin outside of it's door and appeared that someone lived there. Go inside of the lobby to check in and it was pretty dark, it was around 6:30p and there were no lights on. The lobby was full of lampshades, mattresses and other junk. All of this obscured the view of the fish tank that had water in it, but didn't appear to have any fish in it. The lobby also smelled really bad, possibly from the stagnant and old fish tank water. Several minutes passed before the female clerk came out and made it clear we were disturbing her. She hastily checked us in with an attitude and made it clear that she didn't give a damn. We enter the room and are a little scared after seeing the lobby. The room is so old and dated. At best the furniture is from the 70's, but appears to be from the 60's. Every piece of furniture was long since warn and needed to be refinished in the 80's. Being worried about bed bugs we tore the bed apart to find what appeared to be a pee stain on the mattress and a poop or blood stain on the opposite side. The mattress appeared to be bug free, but there were some questionable stains on the box spring, wall, and headboard. We decided to sleep reversed, with our heads facing away from the headboard. The mattress was old and spent, and had to be 10+ years old. The pillows were just awful and did nothing, it was like laying your head straight on the mattress. The walls are thin and you can hear every word that is said outside or in connected rooms. Lots of highway noise and constant train whistles coupled with the awful bed and pillow combo made it very hard to get comfortable and fall asleep. Was woken very abruptly after falling asleep to the loud whistling of the piping of the shower in the next room. It is very LOUD. Was woken several more times to people talking in the parking lot at what felt like was right outside of our door. The location seemed very shady and we were worried about our car, especially with the out of state plates. The bathroom is tiny. Just a toilet and shower, no tub. It is so small I had to keep the door open while going to the bathroom. The shower head was about a foot lower than I am tall, and I am short at 5'6". There was one face cloth that had either a poop or blood stain on it. Gross! All in all the place was uncomfortable and old. The rooms need a major update. They seem to clean ok, but there were stains everywhere and the bed and pillows need replacing. Would not stay there again!

Stayed here over 4th of July weekend. Rooms still have METAL KEYS!!! (so cool!)…read more We stayed here because we were visiting friends in the area and didn't have the need for a lot of features I would not use. Wi-fi was spotty, but the cable worked well. It was a tube television with an adapter. Air conditioning worked well. Beds need a little update. Overall, would stay again for the price.
