So glad I got to eat at Connie and Ted's before it had closed in July. It had been on my list…read moreforever and when they announced they were closing si knew it was my last chance. Quickly sat with our reservations, staff were friendly and food and drinks were all outstanding. We tried the chowder flight, lobster roll, fish and chips, crab cake and mussel and clams. We definitely ordered way too much food for two people but we had to try it all. So sad to see another great restaurant go!

It was a retro style building that was a lot bigger than I expected inside. I came at 4:30pm right as they were opening and it filled up quickly. ========= THE FOOD ========= ~ 1/2 LOBSTER ROLL (hot) -- They have a chilled lobster roll but when I asked the bartender her preference she said the hot is better. Small but packed with plump succulent lobster. Butter-basked the texture is sooo good. 4 solid bites of heaven. Bun is a little cracker-like in terms of bread (10/10) ~ HOOK SLIDER (burger) -- The smaller version of their $25 Hook Burger... the gigantic slider (bigger than a cheeseburger at most places) was heavenly. One of the best burgers I've ever had. A+ It was topped with a 4yr old aged white cheddar, pickles, caramelized onions, lettuce and Thousand Island. (10/10) ~ MUSSELS -- Soft texture, full of flavor. Slight bitter mussel taste. Good but prob wouldn't get again. (4/5) ~ CALAMARI -- Small, crispy... juicy on the inside but the breading lacks flavor and seasoning. The cocktail sauce and aioli helps but doesn't save it. Wouldn't order again. (3/5) ======= SAUCEY ======= ~ SAFFRON AOILI -- Looks lemony, was a garlic aioli w/Saffron, great for seafood, full of flavor. (5/5) ~ COCKTAIL SAUCE -- lil bit ketchup, a lil bit spicy. (4/5) ~ ORANGE SAUCE -- "Figueroa Sauce" I thought it was a spicy mayo or chipotle mayo. Was a bit tangy, not bad. (3/5) ============ NEEDED 2 TRY =============== Too late now but... ~ LOBSTER MAYO -- House-made, contains Katsuoboshi - Bonito Flakes, does not contain Lobster. $1 ~ FIGARO SAUCE -- House-made sauce blend of Hollandaise & Marinara. $1 ~ CLAM CHOWDER TRIO ========== IN CLOSING ========== I'd been wanting to come for nearly a decade and finally did it. It lived up to the hype of all my friends over the years that raved about it especially Alexis P. It's a shame the owners were ready to retire and robbed us of this gem but I'm happy they get to sit back and enjoy post retirement life as they well deserve after treating Angelenos to this delicacy the past 15+ years. Cheers to Connie and Ted.

Went to Lola's with the wife on a random Wednesday night... and we were blown away!…read more Ambiance: Chill vibes & good music. Service: Seated in less than 2 minutes. Server got our drink orders shortly after that and went out of his way to make sure that there were no issues after the wife mentioned her gluten sensitivity. Food: Street corn was great, the wife's taquitos were crunchy & flavorful... but the star of the show was the taco trio and the birria almost made me pass out. If you're ever in Bixby Knolls, run (don't walk) to Lola's

We were sat almost immediately, which was nice. My friend and I split two different items. The item that caught my attention was their special for the Long Beach Food Scene collab inspired by Warped Tour bands. In this case, it was two chipotle-brushed shrimp tacos served with honey slaw and pico de gallo. It was DELICIOUS! My friend ordered the al pastor burrito. We both preferred the shrimp taco and wish we had instead doubled up on the order. To wash it all down, we each had their strawberry hibiscus drink. So refreshing! At the end, we split a flan. It was a nice lunch and the service was great. They were very patient with all the goofing around between my friend and I. Good times, would come again.
