CrossFit Cure is an amazing gym and incredibly welcoming community. I cannot say enough great…read morethings about it. I first found CrossFit Cure in February 2021 during the pandemic and while I was healing from a shoulder injury. Kai offered me the opportunity to try out the gym for free for one week. My first class was the Saturday morning class. I was very nervous about getting back into CrossFit due to my shoulder injury, but also because in my experience, some CrossFit communities can be unwelcoming. I have done CrossFit in the past at different boxes around the country and had experiences where I did not feel welcomed, and did not feel like I was part of a community. The Saturday morning crew at CrossFit Cure was nothing like this. Immediately upon arriving, Gene (the coach) and the folks taking the class were incredibly welcoming. Everyone was introducing themselves and asking me questions about where I'm from/how I found CrossFit Cure. From that moment on, I've become a regular at the 5am weekday class and I try to make it to every Saturday morning class that I can. CrossFit Cure uses the "Level Method" which I thought sounded strange until I learned what it was. Rather than being told "this is the Rx workout and this is the scaled workout" (and always feeling like I will forever be doing scaled workouts and never do Rx), the Level Method offers scaled versions of the Rx workouts, outlined by colors. So even though I might be doing a color that isn't the Rx workout, I still feel like I accomplished the Rx for that specific color. After the Foundations package, I've been going to the 5am classes regularly, taking class with Gene, Levi, and Lexi (coaches). They are smart, know what they are doing, and spend a lot of time making sure people know the techniques (and tell folks to back off if their technique is turning into garbage). I have felt completely safe throughout all the workouts, even while healing from my shoulder injury. When needed, they helped me choose different movements if something didn't work for my shoulder. Equally important to knowledgeable coaches is the community aspect of the box. This community welcomed me and took me in when I had no community in Tucson. The best part of my day became going to CrossFit Cure and working out with the 5am crew. I will be forever grateful to everyone at CrossFit Cure for welcoming me with open arms and cheering me on through all the challenging workouts.

I came here for a tour two years ago, and I'll be honest: it wasn't exactly love at first lift. The…read moreequipment felt outdated, the crowd was mostly a very fit 55+ group, and there wasn't much diversity. My overall impression was pretty underwhelming, so I never returned--or even considered coming back. But wow--what a difference today! I discovered that a HYROX workout was being hosted here, immediately texted a friend, and we signed up. When I arrived, I couldn't believe how completely the facility had changed. It was like the gym had gone away for two years, gotten a makeover, and come back with a personal trainer. Everything was super clean, the equipment was new and updated, and the crowd was diverse and included people of all ages. Basically, everyone looked like they belonged there--including those of us questioning our life choices halfway through the workout. Every employee I met was wonderful, but Coach Josh really stood out. He invited us to come back and try his group exercise class, and we absolutely plan to. I may even stretch beforehand, which is how you know I'm serious. The HYROX workout was awesome! There were also several vendors, and we loved getting massages afterward. They even had infrared saunas, which felt like a very luxurious reward for voluntarily making my legs stop working. The facility has showers and lockers, along with unique equipment like the Jacob's Ladder. There's also a vending machine stocked with my favorite vegan protein shakes, because apparently the gym understands that I need a snack immediately after pretending to be athletic. The prices seemed reasonable, too. Group class drop-ins are $20, which feels pretty standard. My only wish is that this gym were available on the ClassPass app.

This review is longgg overdue…read more I'm a snowbird in Tucson. And having trained with an excellent trainer in Seattle, I wanted to do something more challenging and *different*. Thanks to the great Yelp reviews I found Patricia. Patricia was offering the 12 week transformation, where you go from flab to fab, but that's not what interested me. It was her personal gym which is filled to the brim with excellent equipment for every body part (and some body parts you never knew existed - OUCH! ;) Patricia also had accompanying meal plans and supplements. Since I started with the supplements and meal plans, I've not had the excrutiating post-workout muscle pain that prevents me from getting off the floor after 12 hip thrusters (the pain is *real*, ladies!) Drinking a gallon of water a day also really helps. Thanks to Patricia's, egg whites, Isopure Whey Protein, supplements and are part of my forever meal plan, as boring as they sound. I've changed the macros of my diet, though if I really want to do the total body transformation like some of the awesome ladies whose pictures are posted on the "wall of fame" I have to reduce my fat intake to a level where I feel that life isn't worth living anymore. Like all programs, Patricia's transformation is what we make of it. In the meantime, I've stayed the same weight as when I started the program, but just the other day I deadlifted 150lbs! (Though with a hex bar.) At Lowe's, I loaded my cart with about 200lbs worth of edging stone, while another guy gaped at me. Yes, and that's the other thing - Patricia's gym is mainly female-centric, so that we ladies can feel safe and empowered to reach our utmost abilty. I really enjoyed my time training with Patricia and appreciated how accessible she was, even outside of our training sessions. And I'm looking forward to going back to Tucson and starting back up with her again.
