I used GSF to MOT my Renault car. The vehicle failed on brakes and deteriorated CV boots. I was quoted £1,000 to get this fixed. It felt this was expensive so I called around and took the car elsewhere to get repaired. On inspection they said the CV boots were clearly in excellent condition and just needed new clips to crimp them to the drive shaft and stop the small weep of grease. They carried out this work and also replaced the brakes (disks and pads) at a cost of £280. An almost 4 times reduction from what I was quoted! As a result I was down by the cost of an MOT (£54.85) and a lot of wasted time & effort. Be wary of any quotes for repairs and shop around for competitive prices. read more

Approach with extreme caution. Have used them for some time but increasingly become suspicious. Their labour rate is now £150 ph + VAT and they run up a lot of hours. I had a problem with the transmission control unit of my 13 yr old Mercedes S class which I had had from new. Last year they sent the part off for repair on 2 occasions after both of which it failed again (temporary breakdowns on all occasions). Finally they fitted a new one (after a long wait) deducting the cost of the previous repairs. It failed again this year, was sent off to a Mercedes dealer for warranty repair. I heard nothing for 6 weeks apart from the fact that the dealer had found 2 additional faults which needed repairing at a cost of £1100 or so. But they had no date for the TCU replacement. Then suddenly the car is back with GSF from the dealer (who had just been replaced by Mercedes) with the TCU supposedly replaced. GSF then tell me that one of the 2 additional faults was actually fine, but that there was an ABS issue that needed fixing as part of/before they could check that the TCU was now OK. This would cost another £1200, and another delay of a few weeks. Plus £800 odd for 1 additional fault that was genuine. (Note that when I complained about the two new repairs needed which I originally approved, they said I didn't have to go through with them but would have to reimburse them for the parts they had ordered in. Yet one repair was not required.) Fed up with being carless and worried about yet more bills I agreed to sell the car for what they claimed was a fair price, the anticipated fair trade-in price less the cost (to me) of the expected repairs. It transpired that the buyer was one of the GSF owners - so hardly a trade-in price. I am left feeling that I have been cheated by Mercedes and their dealer in not promptly honouring their warranty on the TCU, and inventing unnecessary repairs; and by GSF in the way they pile on repairs making my car "worth nothing" but still good enough for one of the partners to buy it for himself. But at least I will never have the stress of having to deal with this outfit ever again. read more

Undoubtedly the worst vehicle repair company I have ever had to deal with and I have had a few shockers in my time. While the staff are friendly and accommodating, the charges are extortionate, the servicing work is shoddy or incorrectly carried out and they often return the vehicle with something else wrong. I have taken my car to them for three sets of repairs (MOTs, tyre replacements etc) now and they have got progressively worse each time. On this occasion the car was returned with: 1. Wires hanging out of fuse boxes on the drivers side. 2. The front passenger seatbelt clip stuck under the plastic central compartment after they had taken off the central cover to work on the electronics. 3. Worst of all I was unable to lock the car! They claimed that this "electronic fault" must have happened over night after the servicing and that despite the fact they were tinkering with the electronics as part of the repair, they would not claim responsibility for it and that "this sort of thing happened all the time. Even Windows go down in the night on some cars when no one is near them." 4. There were also plastic bits (likely to be from the car) dotted all over the floor of the car. The servicing cost me a staggering £1,200 for a single electronic part to be replaced and MOT. They claimed that the labour took 4.5 hours to complete the works and charged me £618 (plus 20% VAT) for it. I have been left hugely distressed, not to mention out of pocket, by the whole experience at a really busy time of the year for me. I really wouldn't recommend taking your car to them. I have had other bad experiences with them including them charging me for a run flat tyre I had asked for when they had installed a regular one. They then tried to charge me for the regular one and my run flat one because I had driven the regular one 3 miles home after they incorrectly installed it! Unbelievable! read more

Total rip off I went in there this morning to ask them to do an oil change in my x reg golf. I had the oil and filter, and even a new but and washer. I was planning th do it myself, but was too busy. So I thought I'd ask them for a price to do it as I'm local and have always wondered if they are any good. They quoted £75 plus VAT which in my opinion is fundamentally dishonest given that is a 15 minute job - admittedly add a while for the engine to drain properly. It was a job id have Asked Queenstown Motors to do except they've changed ownership recently. Opportunistic con men in my book. And they don't take kindly to bring told its a rip off btw! ..... Just read the comment by gsf, and don't know how to reply, so have added it here. If it was the price he had quoted for a full oil change then I wouldn't have had a problem. But I explained at the time and he understood in the follow up shouting at me to get out that I was providing my new oil, filter, seals and even a bolt and washer, so the price was massively excessive. I got the job done nearby for £30. Make your own conclusions. But nice to be referred to as a gentleman, a courtesy I probably wouldn't have extended to them given the inflammatory rudeness I incurred. Shame really, as I'd been looking for an honest garage in the area to replace another that had had a change in management..... Their loss. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, LIVES AT RISK DUE TO POORLY FITTED TYRES. I went to get three tyres replaced. Two days after, one of the new tyres burst on the motorway - there is no visible puncture to the tyre and I have sent it away to be properly tested. I have since taken the car to two different garages who have informed me that the remaining tyres on the car which have been fitted at GSF have not been fitted properly, putting myself and anyone else travelling with me at risk. I will be taking this further. If only I could give it 'No stars'. read more

I have now used GSF for a little over 7 months on both my cars and i can say hand on heart they are fantastic and have never let me down.I first went to them 7 months ago with my 1999 Range Rover i bought that needed a lot of love and attention and GSF was recommended to me by a friend. They told me what had to be done and it was a big job was quoted a price and lets say it was £2500 cheaper than Range Rover Main Dealer and £1000 cheaper than any other garage i had used.Well i have to say the job they did was amazing and they service they provide is main dealer service but without the heavy cost. For me i have used them from a tyre change to my other car having a total engine rebuild and never have they let me down ,they keep me in the loop all the time and i am always welcomed to come and have a look at the progress of the work being done and when i do come i am treated always like family, warm and friendly. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GSF!!!! read more

I had a water leak from my Mercedes engine and decided to take it to the mail dealer, after inspecting the vehicle they gave the biggest shock with the price stating that they would need to remove half of my engine to replace a gasket and seals, I refused to go ahead with the work and decided to seek independent advice from another garage, i goggled and found GSF motorworks based in Battersea, I rang them and found them to be very helpful, They offered to collect my car and carry out diagnostic checks, which they did and quoted me half the price that i was quoted by the main dealer!! I was very impressed in the way the staff dealt with me and my car and to my surprise on collection of my car it was immaculate and polished.I will definitely not be using the main dealers in the future when you can find more efficient and professional business in the same trade out there. Definitely recommend this garage to anyone. read more

So I took my MINI in for an annoying squeak and I was a bit wary of how they would treat someone who has no clue about cars. They called me the after a couple of hours, explained what the problem was and asked whether they should go ahead and fixed it. Next day I went to pick up my car, the mechanic sat down with me and even drew a diagram (!) so I could understand the situation. They had also ran a health check, checked oils, tyres and washed my car. The staff was so friendly and seemed to genuinely care about the clients and the business. Couldn't have been happier. Ever since, me and my husband have been going there for our MOTs or any other car trouble. We're extremely happy that we've finally found a place that is reliable, trustworthy and quick. They always ask you before they make repairs and most importantly, they tell you the truth. read more

Took my car in for clutch and acceleration problems and was incredibly impressed by the friendliness of the staff and speed of repair. Not only did they show me the damaged parts upon pickup but also a video they had taken of the parts as they were being worked on in the car. This was in substitute of a new system they plan to implement where every customer will receive a Log In pin which will allow them to view live webcam footage of their car being worked on, on the ramp, in real time. What other garage can boast that level of customer reassurance? Five star service. They even gave me a bottle of wine when I picked up my car. read more

GSF Motor Works are ultimately professional in their approach and their entire team is exceptionally friendly serving you with a smile. From getting a work estimate for my luxury vehicle for its annual service, additional parts and mechanical requirements, bodyshop and MOT inspection to actually having it serviced has been a pleasant and memorable experience. And by the way, my vehicle is Japanese. The premises and service area are spotless and their engineers are knowledgable and certified experts. I highly recommend them for offering any type of automotive works and for any type of vehicle, small, big, SUV or sports. read more

I sent my car in for diagnostics, I was told i could have the car returned to me at my workplace. I decided not to progress with the repairs recommended, and was told it would cost me £30 to have the car returned to me a cost of which I was not initially informed of. When my car was returned to me, the wheel hub fittings and front grill was not replcaed, i had to return the car again to have this replaced, it was not replaced properly so had to go somewhere else to get it fixed. A big waste of my time, money and resources. Staff very friendly, but not especially efficient. read more

Great service from Janus, Faruq, Vip, Michelle and the team. I've been using GSF for 2 years now despite moving out of the area and now living 20 miles away. The level of customer service is outstanding. Most recently, they sent someone from their garage to my house to change the battery on the car. They have offered to pick up the car and return it for servicing. The price has always been reasonable but the reason I continue to go back is because they take a lot of care with the car and with the customer. read more

The team at GSF Motor Works in Battersea have been caring for my Porsche Carrera 996 for nearly three years - they are masters of their trade, extremely knowledgeable, reasonably priced and offer customer service second to none. There are sharks out there and there are the good guys - these are the good guys! Highly recommended. Michelle in Customer Service is GSF's silver bullet - responsive, friendly and wildly efficient. Great job, top-quality work and amazing service all round. read more

Being female and driving an ageing, not-grand car, I'm usually rather nervous of garages. Have used these guys twice now once for MOT and service and once to mend the damage done by a sideswiper. They really seem to make an effort to find solutions for issues that reflect the value of the car rather than trying to sell you the most expensive option, and the service is friendly and courteous. Really impressed. read more

First rate garage. This was my third service and they did a fantastic job. There was plenty to do on my Volvo V70 but I trusted then completely and they have come good as usual. Great front of house staff and I will be using GSF again. And they were good to throw in a few freebie. Nice people. read more

I got a reasonable quote from GSF for new tyres and wheel alignment. Went down and the staff were nice (good looking receptionist too). I didn't have to wait around someone saw me straight away, and my car was ready the next day. Will be going back for my service. read more
