I had no idea this lounge even existed until Saturday or that you could hire it out for private functions. The space itself is good with ample seating although over 30 people and it could become a little cramped. Unfortunately it does not have a bar so you have to go downstairs to get your pints and spirits. There's a dartboard and for any Phil Taylor 'want to be's'. This review is for the upstairs bar but from passing through the downstairs bar a few times it looked pretty lively with punters singing along with the brave soul doing karaoke. I think the 'Rose' is a solid 3 stars - if the function room was renovated slightly I think they could book it out every week. It is a great central location and has good views over the Marina.

Teddys is one of my favourite places to eat in Bangor at the moment. They do honest good food at reasonable prices. They do an early bird and often have other offers on as well. The interior is nice and the staff welcoming and friendly but won't pester you while you are eating. It's also with noting that throughout the day and evening they do "coffee and cake" for £3.95. By cake they actually mean anything from the dessert menu. Cheaper than the big coffee chains and their sticky toffee pudding is one of the best I've had. What's not to love about that deal.

There was only the mushroom risotto or a honey chilli stir fry on the menu suitable for vegetarians. Wolsey's are seriously missing a trick by not having more veggie options as so many people are becoming vegetarian nowadays or just want to reduce their meat consumption. Nonetheless I cannot fault the food I had in any way as it was beautiful, fresh and outstandingly delicious. Wolsey's itself is a bit dated with an old fashioned feel, but it's still pleasant. A small but important point is that it's also lovely to have a meal sitting in such comfortable chairs, so many other restaurants have rickety, uncomfortable seating. However I was so comfortable and cosy at Wolsey's I could have sat there all night. The £11 bottles of prosecco are fabulous value for money too and I will definitely be returning to Wolsey's. The only reason I'm not giving them a full 5 star rating is because of the limited choice for vegetarians.

To this day I am not sure if it did, but one thing is for sure the labour I undertook will help me give you the inside track on Bangor's oldest licensed premises. Jenny Watts is the Grandfather of pubs, it is quirky, full of character and can be quite entertaining if you ignore the tobacco stains. But much like an elderly relative it has one or two very interesting stories to tell. Legend has it Jenny herself was a famous 18th Century smuggler, regulars in the bar will tell of long winding caves that run from under the pubs deep cellar all the way to Bangor Bay. Having worked in Jenny Watts I can unfortunately confirm that this story is just a myth. But it is stories like this that help to mould an establishment. Tourists and Locals intermingle in Jenny Watts creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. If you are looking for a traditional Irish pub atmosphere then look no further. In the winter locals huddle round the open fire sipping Guinness and swirling sixteen year old whiskey. In the summer the enclosed Beer Garden is full to the brim with holiday makers drinking cider and sparkling rose. All this accompanied by live music all year round makes Jenny's perfect for any occasion. Jenny Watts also offers a full Bistro menu making it a very difficult place to leave. One tip from me, if you are going to Jenny Watts make sure you ask the friendly staff or locals if they have experienced any spooky happenings, I am sure they will not disappoint.

It is attached to a bookmakers and is used for watching horse racing for the punters who bet next door. The Winning post do show live football and they are usually happy to put in anything you ask as long as it doesn't clash with horse racing. This is not really a bar young people usually frequent and wouldn't be my choice for a drink before a night out. They serve all the usual lagers you would expect and obviously have Guinness on draught. They also sell spirits and all the drinks are priced at the usual rate. Like I said before the Winning Post is not a place I would usually go to but it serves its purpose.
