The kids spend time by themselves, my husband and I have time alone and together, and we have time with the kids to enjoy each other as a family. The camp is large enough for the kids to exercise their independence --heading to the barn for activities or kayaking in the cove by themselves without me worrying about them. When we go, I don't cook, clean or plan anything - which as a busy mom, is the best kind of vacation. The camp is rustic and simple but very clean with beautifully manicured grounds - a space just perfect for appreciating nature. The food is delicious (I probably gained 5 lbs last week) and easily catered to special diets. I enjoyed a nice mix of structured activities (fishing, sailing, art, archery, land sports, barn dance, bingo, etc) and down time (time at the lake or for a nature walk or just to relax around the fire). I also appreciated the sense of community that camp strives to create each week among the family members. At about 10-12 families per week, it is just the right size. Can't recommend this special place highly enough and I can't wait to go back.

I really wish I had a different rating to give. I went to a single sex camp for years and loved it…read more But I sent my ten year old daughter this summer and she broke some fingers (which happens!). However, the medical director was very difficult to deal with (had to send multiple emails to get simple responses), which certainly isn't ideal in an emergency - and she relayed inaccurate information about the extent of my daughter's injuries. (In addition, and this doesn't matter for my kid bc the timing of the prescription antacid she takes doesn't matter for its efficacy, but my daughter was given a double dose of medicine at night as opposed to a dose in the morning and then a dose at night - I flag it in case that matters to other parents). We ended up bringing my daughter home after surgery because there was not much she could do at camp - and no one at camp followed up to see how she was doing. (I even had to reach out to see if they were going to mail her laundry back.) I know our experience was unique - and I hope no one else has it - but sadly I can't say that I trust the camp nor do I have faith in the depth of the community spirit.

They don't leave enough time in the day for all filmmakers to work. Staff is almost impossible to reach. Also not interested in being reached. Place doesn't even have a printer for students to use. Instructors are great, but their hands are tied. Most equipment is reserved for cinematography students. Trust me. This place ain't what it used to be. Not even close. Can blame some things on the pandemic, but not everything. Also, campus food is VERY expensive (tastes terrible) and not available after hours 6pm. They have Lobster dinners once a week that you have to pay top dollar for. If you want to learn how to make films, I suggest not trekking all the way here to do it. Save the cash.
