Amato's Deli, exceptional service. The family all excel in…read moreoptimum service of delicatesant produce. I have been looked after tremendously for 20 years as a loyal customer of the Amato's Family operated delicatessens. The food is always a wonderful freshness with extra detail to providing an extensive range of health foods, such as home made meals you can take home and put in freezer for the tines you may not feel like cooking but wish to eat home cooked delicious meals, goats and sheep cheeses that are reasonable priced compared to woolworths and cokes who ruthlessly set prices way beyond the average customers budget as they force many delicatessens to close illuminating competition. They will vaccume seal segments of a cheese wheel for egsampke so you can store it easier. Sour dough bread, celtic salt, olives, a huge range of salamis, meats, cofees, and chocolate. Oil in large containers at much more friendly prices than our grocery giants. Sundried tomatoes, great range of anti pasto, pasta, pasta sauces, glazed cherries that are hard to get these days. Truffles, a bite to eat for lunch, as well as so much more. If you woukd like to order a cheese wheel this can be rearranged. They will also post some of your favourite cheese to you if your visiting relatives interstate. I may not have mentioned dried herb range that is much more fresh than top brands like hosts that are sold at supper markets. I find that it is best to go to deli first before going to the big grocery stores. Bacon eggs. Fresh dips, the quality is absolutely exceptional in comparison to Coles and woolworths who drive business to coliseum so they don't have to maintain any standard without competitors. We should all be wise and support local businesses like this. And start saying no to colesworth lack of ability to care about the customer on any level. I use to buy goats cheese for $28 a kilo, and coles and woolworth sold same brand fir $58 a killo. As a result it has forced general prices of cheese up massively. But without these family run business competing with the supperamarke5 giants who are always willing to push prices out of people's range as thier greed shows no remorse, or drive to provide customers with what they need compared to well run business that offers a generous sprinkle of love with each product on offer. It's time we take our power back from Colesworth. Amato's Deli, a well worth investment. Highly recommended, from a loyal customer for 20years. Kind thoughts, Kristen.

Is now a good time to mention that I love deli's? There are a few deviations from your normal deli options, think pizza bases, honey and coffee, although not all together that would be horrible. The dips are fresh and delicious and the sauces authentic Italian. The staff are helpful and friendly and be sure to check out the specials racks out the front of the store. Don't forget to leave your trolley outside as there really is standing room only here. Which is easy to forgive when your in close proximity to great smelling deli staples.

Psarakos is kinda hidden. It's actually on Clarendon street. Why the original designers of this…read morespace and allotment did not have the shop frontage on high street remains a curiosity. Regardless of fact, and kinda being a little non-descript from the outside, Psarakos is actually quite extensive in terms of it's range for fresh fruit, vegetables and produce. Its on par with some of the bigger markets' prices. There's also a little delicatessen attached on site, with pretty much everything you need and probably more. It's definitely not short on choice. You'll find a few other bits and pieces around the place- meat and seafoods. Not to mention that there's also an excellent liquor section in the Fruit and vegetables area which has an impressive selection of spirits and wines for it's size. I've actually found a lot of my go to favourites on the shelves. There's a lot to find here, including Mexican drinking chocolate and Simon coll xolates.

It doesn't look much from outside, but Psarakos Brothers Vege Barn is a little bastion of all…read morethings fruit and vegetable in the inner north. Stretching over a couple of football fields' worth of real estate, the place is chocked full with produce ranging from your run of the mill 'Australian'-style spuds and onions, to a wide range of Asian varieties and further regional obscurities. The stuff here is pretty much non-organic, but is usually in pretty good shape at least for a week after purchase. The big difference here are the price-points. Psarakos provide their veges in bulk, so it pays to sift through the bins, but the prices match and even often better those seen at Preston or Victoria markets. Plus there is very little hassle-factor in shopping here, with ample parking and a very relaxed overall vibe about the place. A downside is the opening hours which are limited and Saturdays can be a little hectic. But if you hate the market rush and chow through a couple of bags of greens a week, you can walk out of here with two bags full of groceries for under forty bucks.
