I've been paid to use black car services twice a day for almost a year with a company account. I reserve entire weeks of service in advance to get a good overview of each company. So at this point I have taken maybe 30 to 40 rides or more with Americar. This review is based on A LOT of rides, not just one experience. This is by far the worst car service of the lot. If I am spending the week with Americar you can guarantee they will send you the car late. I have gotten such consistently bad service where it was *absolutely guaranteed* Americar would send me a late car twice a day, every single day that I have just outright cancelled the service and had to re-reserve weeks of car service with another company. The only company I've ever cancelled a car is this one because of how incredibly late they've been. One time I asked them to pick me up 30 minutes earlier than I knew I was to leave to try to fool them into sending me a car on time. They still sent the car so late that I was an hour late for work. A lot of the cars they send will not have covid plastic barriers. I spent one week on Americar recently and only 1 driver out of about 7 different drivers that week had a barrier. Other services I'm almost guaranteed a covid barrier. I kept returning to the service because I know that maybe sometimes a company has bad days or maybe there is a problem I'm unaware of like weather or labor shortage that month or something else. So of course I'd give them another chance because who knows, it could have been something beyond their control last time. So just to make sure I'd do another week with them a few months after using other services and lo and behold Americar would disappoint me again with the exact same problems. So this is verifiably a bad service as far as I'm concerned. The one good thing is the dispatchers are very fast and pleasant to talk to and very understanding, it's one of the easiest companies to reserve cars from. Other companies waste my time, Americar is on the ball with this. They also communicate well if the car is late (so basically almost every day) but at least they communicate. If only they could keep this quality consistent with the cars. read more

This is my first experience with this company, I waited 45 min for the car with no heads up of a wait or follow-up. When I called the company back to see what's happening, it's then when I received the text that the driver would be at my location in 13min. It took another 20. The dispatcher said they were low on drivers. I would have appreciated this information upfront. Will not use again. read more

My first experience with Group Americar was excellent, as they are the car service of choice by our dealership. However, when I called them to schedule a pick up in Williamsburg to the Javitz Center - they were over 30 minutes late and never called to lmk - I had to call dispatch and inquire about the driver. The car was smelly and damp, the AC didn't work, the driver hardly spoke English and when it was time for to pay the bill, the asked me if I wanted him to add taxes to it. Sounds shady to me... Of course I want you to add taxes - Do what's legal!!! Well, today I got my bank statement, and even though my signed receipt says the charge (with taxes) was $67, they debited $77.60 out of my acct. We did not stiff the driver on a tip either, we gave him $20 cash. So there is no reason for them to do that. Tomorrow AM I'm getting my $10.60 back - and I'm never using them again. read more

Been using the service now for about a month for our Directors (my company is giving them a try) and I must say, not only are the dispatchers that answer the phone friendly, but they are PROFESSIONAL, PROMPT and very detailed oriented. Just today I booked some cars with Alisa and the call was painless and quick. AND the best part? I can book them anywhere in the US which takes away any hassle of having to book a different company when they land in another state. SO FAR SO GOOD! read more

I do not usually bother leaving reviews but I was so frustrated tonight that I had to create an account. The first few times I used this service I was pleased with the prompt pick-up and polite service. Lately though, every single time I call, I get cars 20-30 minutes away - while my colleagues, calling at the same time or after me, get pickups within 5-8 minutes. This is an absurd, draining waste of time, and tonight was the last straw for me. I called for pickup, was promised a car within 8 minutes, received a text confirmation of the same - then 3 seconds later, I received a new text confirmation for a car 32 minutes away. When I called to inquire about the change, I was advised that a closer car would be sent my way. Ok...that's great. First time I'd gotten that response. So I received a text confirmation that a car 8 minutes away would be sent my way. *As I was coming down the elevator* (barely 3 minutes later!) I received a *third* text confirmation that yet another car would be picking me up - and this one over 15 minutes away! When I called again for an explanation, the manager on-duty just rattled off the car details without apology, as if that was explanation enough for why on earth they kept changing my pickup details to be as inconvenient as possible. I find this absolutely unprofessional, and I will never again recommend this service to my family or friends. I will also strongly recommend that my company take their business elsewhere.
