Unfortunately, I went on Joe, the owner's off day, so I didn't get a chance to say hi to him, but his staff is always warm and friendly. I dig the amount of Star Wars memorabilia he has, along with all the other toys, collectible card games, tabletop games, and of course, the pinball machines. He also has new Comics weekly along with some back issues, stickers, supplies, and some really great statues. If you're looking for collectible card games singles, they also have probably one of the largest supplies in Northeast Ohio. Check out the 55 pictures I shot. Thursday was a bright sunny day and the sun beams shone thru the windows to highlight the comic and toy goodness. New comics come in weekly and they have a nice back stock selection. They also have prints, t-shirts and models. Check out their Funkos and models. Recently they have had some pop culture guests like Lou Ferigno, some Power Rangers and some voice actors. Carol and John's Comic Book Shop…read more I don't think anyone would argue that this shop is a prime example of everyone's favorite friendly-neighborhood comic shop. John and crew make this shop accessible to all ages. They have their layout dialed in, their social media dialed in, their special events dialed in and exciting and their books and pricing dialed in so all collectors can enjoy. New books weekly with some cool Facebook intros. A stellar shop cat, Winston, who actually runs things. ( it's a his shop and he actually let's us all enjoy it.) Their back issues are on sale, they have some neat manga titles and families will like the kid's area. They have supplies and probably the largest dual wall of Graphic Novels in Northeast Ohio. This is my homebase so I might be a little prejudice on the side of Comics Are Go and Eric Anderson. Comics Are Go. I've been going to Comics Are Go since it was under previous ownership with Scott and it was called "Astound" in Westlake, Ohio. I've had the pleasure of watching this shop grow out of its previous location in the same plaza and into bright and spacious space it is now in. Eric Anderson went from being a novice to journeyman comic guy and always a gentleman. First thing you'll notice when you walk in is how light/ well-lit the store is and how open the floor plan is. Comics Are Go was able expand and fill the space with so much good stuff. They have so many back issues plus so many hidden back issues, it's dizzying. Be sure to ask what you're looking for. On the west side of Cleveland, there is probably not a Comic Shop that has more silver, gold and bronze comics available, including slabbed/ graded books. I believe they may have one of the largest selections of variant comics also. If you're a very collector, it's definitely worth your drive. They get new comics every Wednesday, they're always stocked with supplies and their Funko pop wall is amazing. They've also curated a large selection of graphic novels. I'm always mesmerized by the amount of toys that they have and their fantastic selection of statues and busts. And remember when you're looking at the wall books, they probably have 10 times that amount of wall books available or more. Be sure to ask for what you're looking for. I'm sure Eric or Ed will be able to find it for you. Recently, they put together a section of manga so if you're looking for some manga on the west side, Comics Are Go is your place. Every year Eric throws a big shindig for free comic book day, I am sure this year he is going to have special artists and creators. Plus he's gonna have a ton of free comics. Be sure to stop in. Trip Review - B & L Comics & Nostalgia in Parma…read more I recently stopped in to see Larry. I think the coolest part about walking into B & L is that it is a time capsule that represents every comic shop I ever went to as a kid and young adult. This is a good thing. Larry is such a nice guy and he knows comics and has a great selection of wall books and back issues. He also gets new books on Wednesdays. The shop has comic supplies along with some great sports cards and non-sport cards. He carries other great collectibles and even some candy which I can't say no to...ever! Larry and B & L will have Free Comics tomorrow for Free Comic Book Day. Stop in and say hi!!! Having just moved here from NY, and specifically, rural, backwoods New York, I was floored to find that there was a comic book store near me. Upon my first entry, I found the entirety of the Watchmen comic series via DC Compact for $10, and I couldn't believe it. I bought it, read it cover to cover, and came back the next day. This was about a month ago, maybe a little longer now, and I've been back several times since. In fact, it's actually become a bit of a routine. Located less than half a mile from the UA campus, it's very convenient for me to walk on down during my breaks between classes. Even when it's not necessarily, "convenient" for me to come in, they've incentivized me to take the walk during weekends with their $1 Independent Sales, an absolutely absurd value for anybody, like me, who spends the majority of their comic-reading time with publishers beyond Marvel and DC. So far, I've met about three of the resident staff members, and haven't a harsh word about any of them. They are all kind, well-informed and decent people who never fail to help their patrons find what they're looking for, or offer interest-based recommendations to those who are unsure of their next read. All in all, Rubber City Comics is a wonderful shop. I cannot recommend giving them your business enough, especially as we enter an increasingly digital era of shopping and marketing. Support your local brick-and-mortar stores, and be sure to support this one as well, they absolutely deserve it.
