Coach Jamie and Coach Isaac really pay attention to detail when we're training. They make adjustments to our technique when we need it, they motivate us during work outs, and they create a safe space to learn and grow. I am happy with the calisthenic workouts, pad work and advice they have provided. They really create a family environment! The community at RCA reflects this. They have so much integrity, so much passion, and a drive to help their community through their love of Muay Thai. If you want to start learning self defense, this is the place to go. Even if you're solo, this gym will treat you with respect and will treat you like family no matter what background you have. Overall, this is an ego free gym, so definitely leave that cockiness and bad energy at home. Isaac and Jamie definitely makes every class fun, and I have lost weight ever since joining this gym.

He picked this school to train at! It was the atmosphere. The kids class are awesome! There are games involve, drills and friendly little competitions that kept kids very attentive (which is extremely difficult to do for 4,5,6 year olds). This gym is very clean and easy to get to (just west of I-5 freeway off of Hammer Lane). The classes are laid back and offers a very chill and stress free environment. I love that they play lots of 80's and reggae music in the background during classes. Tim and Stella are fantastic instructors! I liked so much for my son that I started training here too once I saw my son was getting after it! Honestly, I was apprehensive at first because I had a couple reasons: 1:I had an old neck injury and was scared of aggravating it, but I have not because everyone I roll with is super cool and respectful about my condition. 2: I train at another martial arts school; Tim and Stella are totally cool with it because they know I'm just trying to become a better martial artist. Everyone here is super cool and easy going. The instruction is first class. I had came from another Jiujitsu school and had to adjust to an entirely new way of thinking, analyzing my game and strategies (10th Planet is on another level). It was great starting over again and being humbled. One thing about training Jiu-Jitsu, it puts your ego in check pretty quickly! If you wanna train with ego, the mats quickly adjusts that issue. Come in with an open mind and an attitude of ready to learn. Learning Jiu-Jitsu is one the best empty handed skills one can learn to effectively have self defense skills. They gi and no gi classes.

This has only been possible because of the instructors who teach the classes, the facility/equipment, and the sense camaraderie that is built between instructors and students. Since day one, the instructors have pushed and supported me. I constantly get advice on my technique, how to apply that technique, ways in which I can be more healthy outside of my training, and just overall holistic support. Most recently I entered in a BJJ tournament, and on the days/weeks leading up to that tournament every instructor gave be constant advice and support. The facility is amazing. There are machines for everything, and tools for all forms of recovery. Everything looks extremely professional, and the entire building is well kept. Before and after training I like to use the machines/tools they have for stretching. I have found these to be extremely beneficial, and have been able to minimize what I purchase for home because there is so much accessible at the gym. Finally I have to mention further the culture and sense of camaraderie at the gym. EVERY SINGLE person who trains at Ronin (instructors and students) have been so helpful since I first joined. I eventually realized that I have been able to commit to almost four years thus far because of this. There is always this feeling of "if I improve or if they improve, we ALL improve." If you are looking for a gym to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, to work on your self-defense skills, or just a place that will help you on your journey to better health, Ronin Jiu-Jitsu is DEFINITELY the place.

This dynamic gym offers a variety of classes, including boxing and Valley Fit, which are the classes I personally attend. Many people worry that in a gym with large classes they may not receive individualized attention or feedback from coaches. However, that is not the case at Stockton Jiu-Jitsu Academy. The owners, Coach Rich and Coach Sraineth, are intentional about helping every student grow, regardless of class size. The boxing coaches, Coach Shane and Coach Pete, bring that same level of care and dedication to their classes. One personal experience I would like to highlight is my time in the Valley Fit program with Coach Sraineth. After coming off an injury, I joined the class weighing 187 pounds and struggling mentally. There were several movements I could not perform due to my injury, but without hesitation, Coach Sraineth modified the workouts so I could continue training safely without risking further injury. Because of her patience, encouragement, and intentional coaching, I now maintain a weight of around 160 pounds, have a healthier mindset, and feel stronger than ever. Coach Sraineth, along with the other coaches, played a significant role in my healing journey. That is what makes Stockton Jiu-Jitsu Academy special. You are not simply joining a gym--you are becoming part of a family.
