The building itself boasts a huge and historic watermill outside that used to function a few hundred years ago. The inside has now transformed into a variety of mini shops: barbershop, book shop, bridal shop, antique shops, and a garden center. There's also a cafe and tea spot. You never know what you'll find. If you have a spare 30 minutes and are in the area, stop by to walk around and smell the historic smells, learn about the watermill, and continue on your way. Tip: there were lots of books here for only £1. That's a win in my BOOK.

The best shop in there is probably Next but this is a really small branch and do not offer the same selection as most of the other branches. There is a small Dorothy Perkins and a couple of other clothes shops and a Clinton Cards which is a good store, but other than that the choice is very limited and I would stick to the Grosvenor Centre where you get a much better selection. There is a lovely cafe in here though which is open plan and serves really nice food and drinks at good prices, so it is worth popping in for something to eat as the main Grosvenor Centre doesn't really have any small cafes like this. This was once a nice small centre but it has gone downhill with the closure of shops. It lacks atmosphere and just looks drab and dreary and is not really worth bothering with much these days.

There is no 'thru traffic' (no car park, no bus station..) and hence there is insufficient trade to support any decent shops, for any reasonable length of time. As such, it is a white elephant. Tiny, with no reason to enter it, the best thing about Peacock Place is it's name. Oh, and the fountains are quite nice. In essence it's a small, dark shopping arcade into which there is no reason to enter. As such, it has always suffered and presumably will continue to do so. The entrance is on the old market square, which is very pleasant.

As you would expect, its all clean, well maintained but unless you are used to it, it was a bit confusing, signs weren't brilliant in large crowds. By 9am we were done and ready to go home, people arriving were being turned around as the overflow car park was filled so they were being bused from the park and ride car park way down the road. Bed smart, arrive ridiculously early. Especially if you want Gucci or Prada deals. The queues were already mental before the shops opened. Other than that, some great stores, and have your passport ready for VAT refund services available on the same day you buy all your goodies, don't wait until the airport!

I hit a few when I was there but by far the best was Max Mara! They had soooo much stock and everything was very well priced! After the recent expansion providing a new, fresh look and feel, there were also quite a few more shops added, (such as Wilkinson and Peacocks) along with an extended floor-space to accommodate some shopping stalls to be setup, which is great for seasonal use etc. The only negative thing that I can really say about the centre is that it can get over-run with school kids around lunch time and after school because there are a few schools within walking distance.

It is not a huge shopping centre, but it does have a really big Tescos that sell everything from food, clothes, toys, TVs and electrical, and a huge range of other products. The layout of the centre is a bit weird and I often forget where some of the shops are! There is free parking which is great, inside and outside, although it gets really busy especially on Saturdays and it can be difficult to get a space without driving around a few times. It is not a place I would choose to do my Christmas shopping, but it suits everyday needs.

I want to praise the centre for its amazing mother and baby facilities. It's so clean. I love the breastfeeding rooms with the privacy curtains. I love the fact I can breastfeed my baby and my son can use to the touchscreen game while he waits for me. This is such a help for shopping with two children five and under...thank you!

I've noticed the premises is always kept clean and there's rarely any rowdy or offensive behaviour. The market has some bargains, you can find the odd great summer dress for £5. It's open every day except Mondays and Wednesdays. It gets crowded on weekends, but that's to be expected in any City shopping centre. You get the odd bird flying around, too. Also, I'm not sure what the fountain is now, there used to be a gorgeous fountain near Nandos and it's been covered over.

It has the usual High Street names, ie Dorothy Perkins, River Island, Burtons, Claires Accessories, Thorntons etc. they also ocaasionally have small stalls set out in the middle selling gifty type items. They do special events in the school holidays and to promote other keys times, ie Halloween or Christmas. It has an undercover carpark attached, which is not too expensive and is good for when it is raining. There are two coffeee shops in the middle, my favourite is Esquires. All in all, this is a good place to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon, for some retail therapy.
