Our tiny Chihuahua Monkey is not nice sometimes lol but she is the only one that would take him on, everybody else including a local vets office wouldn't even consider it. We are still taking our shih tzu and yorkie to Groomingdales for grooming. They do a wonderful job and truly love dogs. They are open on Saturdays which is perfect for anyone who works M-F. We love the way our dogs are treated and it's definitely worth the drive from Middletown for us. Sadly, Kim passed away. The current owner was Kim's old assistant and she's a wonderful groomer and a real dog lover. We are so lucky to have Groomingdales in Lake County. read more

Been calling for over a week to get an appointment to get my wife's dog in for a trim. I have never taken a dog to a groomer, I own GSD's and Rotties and handle the trimming of nails and bathing myself, but my wife has a little MalChi, and I wanted to surprise her by getting her little guy trimmed up but no one calls me back. Take my dogs here to get a nail trim because they won't let us do it and it's a breeze! A lil pricey, but the owner recognized and knew our dogs by the second time we brought them in and she's fast, kind, and gentle with them. I took my small 20lb dog in for a simple nail trim, I've taken him here before (I think there was a different lady working that day) and he did just fine and was done 5 minutes later. No problem. So I took him for his next trim and they were TERRIBLE. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I enjoyed seeing all the cute dogs running around and not trapped in a cage but they were barking and they were trying to jump up on the table with my dog. He was clearly frightened. Every twitch he made the groomer got scared. So she decided to muzzle him. And he's never been muzzled before ever so it scared him even more to where he was shaking and his tail was in between his legs!! Then the 2 ladies asked me to step outside so my dog doesn't "see me" but after I did I heard him yelp and cry. They were hurting him and choking him!! When I walked in they said he was very aggressive and he urinated on them. (When I got him back he didn't smell like urine) My little dog peanut has never once been aggressive to anyone in any situation. These people don't care about your dogs. It's disgusting. I ended up taking him home before they could finish trimming his nails. An hour later I went to a different lady to trim his nails and he did just fine. No muzzle. No aggressiveness. That just shows how terrible these people are. read more

Stephanie (the owner) took amazing care of my two beagles! One beagle, Aurora, had some really bad plaque buildup and gave her back with sparkling pearls! Also my mom's shih tzu, Ming, goes to Groomingdales once a month and always comes back looking his absolute best. Ming is one of the toughest dogs to groom! He is not an easy time! He has been kicked out/banned from practically every groomer in the county but Stephanie has the right touch and patience to handle him which is no easy task! Groomingdales is great. Kim has taken care of my little hairy beast for more than2 years. The cuts are what I request and are done promptly. I am still I shock on how reasonable the prices are. I have paid twice as much in the Bay Area. Very convenient.... About 10 minutes fm downtown Kelseyville. Super easy to drop off and pick up. If you find yourself having a little time before your pick up check out LaJour Winery on Redhill or the fun Common Ground Coffee House in the Riviera. Be sure to check out Kim's Lion Head Bunnies. Keep an eye out as she will be breeding these cuties soon. They are very hard to find and are even cuter than the photos. read more

We have a 90 lb 9 year old lab/rott that does not like being groomed. One groomer would not touch him without a muzzle on him. Muzzles just scare him and he turns aggressive. He also doesn't like to be crated. I explained all of this to Kim at Groomingdales. The plan was for me to stay with him while the groomers worked but by the time his nails were trimmed and the bath started they said they had no problem with him and I should leave and let them get down to business. After 20 minutes I went to pick him up and he was beautiful. Most importantly Rocky was wagging his tail and playing with other dogs running around the shop. So I've been here twice, with two different dogs, and let me just say, I personally will never go back. The owner on both occasions was very rude and disrespectful, not only to me but my pets as well. This second trip was by far the worst I've ever seen with any one in the dog grooming business. It really unfortunate because we've heard nothing but good things. So I guess enter at your own risk, or maybe it was just a bad day for the owner, but I've never heard of cutting off the dogs whiskers, now my dog will not eat? Now I don't know for sure if there is a correlation but either way it seemed unprofessional and not what I had asked for. With the serious miscommunications it would be nice for the owner to be up front with customers on what she need from us, as far as when she's done or when the animals are ready to be picked up! And I've also never been yelled at by a business owner, but since she has communication issues, I will never return, groomindales has issues, and I believe it starts with the management. And what ever happen to the customer/pet owner always being right? Lots of questions...Best of luck out there. read more

I recommend that anyone who loves their pet and cares if a groomer knows how to groom them properly, NEVER use the services of Groomingdales. I took my 1 year old pomeranian dog in for a first time grooming there and she was VERY badly burned around her vulva by hot clippers. I brought her home and she screamed and drug her back end for 4-5 days! I took her to the vet the very next morning and they told me that the groomer burned her vulva and anus area with hot clippers. She was in extreme pain and screamed and squirmed severely for 4-5 days. I spoke to Groomingdales and they said she would be alright. Well, it was excruciating to watch and listen to my dog. There was no pain medication or anything to soothe the pain my dog went through. I wrote them and requested that they refund my grooming fee and the vet fee, and they never responded. The vet recommended that I never take my dog to them again. I definitely will never use their services and hope that other people read this review before they consider going there. I have been going to Groomindales for 3 years to get my two large cats bathed and groomed and really never had a problem, until this last visit! When the cats were dropped off, Kim (the owner) could not find my paperwork on them. So it was explained to her that I wanted a lion cut on both cats. When I got them back home and checked out their look, I was appalled to say the least! Not only was the hair cut choppy and uneven, but they were given a bowl haircut...no where near a lion cut. So I thought I was doing the right thing by calling and inquiring about what happen. I was giving her the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe someone new did it. When she returned my call, she was very rude and unprofessional! She explained that she did the haircut and that it didn't matter what I thought it looked like because she thought they looked good. When she finally let me talk, she didn't care how I felt. She told me to find another groomer, which would be better or her! Really??? She didn't ask if there was anything she could do to make it better or offer a discount for the next time they came or even apologize! I was extremely disappointed in her behavior! I always thought that when you provide a service to the community, and a customer was dissatisfied, that you would at least do your best to make it better! Not in this case, she acted very high and mighty and cocky. I DO NOT recommend this lady or her business to anyone. As a matter of fact, now she has lost my business and that of my daughters business. Thank you everyone who has helped me in finding a new and better place to get my cats groomed. I have three dogs I take to Kim at Groomingdales - One is a special needs fatty dog who normally gets freaked out very easily. Kim's love of dogs and understanding of his specialness makes him feel comfortable. One is a border collie who had a bad experience at another groomer and was afraid of groomers, Kim has made her feel comfortable so she has no fear of grooming anymore. She often gets a "puppy cut" and looks darling! The next one is a 3 lb. chiuhahua. She needs her anal glands squeezed and nails trimmed between groomings - I often just drop by for those and Kim is always super nice and has no problem stopping what she is doing and cuts her nails and squeezes her glands. Her prices are very reasonable. Kim is always sweet and professional. I travel a lot so I often call the day before I need to have the dogs groomed and Kim is always accomodating. She puts these cute little scarves on the neck as a special touch! I highly recommend Kim and her crew!!! read more
