Scout's Honor Dog Grooming - INDIGO BEFORE HIS GROOMING WITH ANGELEKA (ANGIE) OF SCOUTS HONOR GROOMING

Up until I moved here, I had been grooming him myself, but now that I am pregnant, I thought it best to find a professional for Indigo's very first session ever with a groomer. I must've gotten Angeleka's number from a fellow dog parent at Brewster Dog park, and as soon as I reached out, she got right back to me. I had also reached out to other groomers that were highly recommended, but sadly, all of them were not taking new clients and were already fully booked for the summer. From the get-go and my initial outreach, I was pleasantly surprised at how accessible, flexible, professional and transparent Angeleka was when it came to scheduling and pricing. I had to provide my dog's vaccination record and was provided with an information brochure and signed a waiver. I appreciate how above the board everything was in setting up the appointment. Being that this would be his first professional grooming, Indigo was a bit nervous and anxious on his first visit. I must say how lovely and kind Angeleka (aka Angie) was, kneeling down to the ground, introducing herself to my dog very slowly and gradually, petting and stroking him and offering him treats. I loved that she took her time in allowing him to calm down and get to know her, and her getting to know us, instead of simply whisking him away to get the job done. I can tell that for this groomer, it's not simply a business or a livelihood, but it's more of a passion, as her love for our pets very much is translated in the way she treats them throughout the whole experience. And she does all of this at a very affordable, competitive price, which is so valuable these days! I can't thank Angeleka (Angie) enough, because when I got my pup back, I hardly recognized him! He looked so sleek and beautiful, like a show dog, and he smelled DIVINE!!! My husband even commented that Indigo's hair products smell better than mine! She got all the residual mats out of his shaggy coat and gave him such a nice summer puppy cut. I can say that after the appointment, Indigo had a lot more pep in his step and a lot more energy and overall, was so much happier! If our pups are happy and healthy, and well cared for, we'll be happier humans. I appreciate Angeleka so much for her time and beautiful groom of my dog, Indigo! We'll definitely be back again and again!

More of a "educational moment" if you will. 2 years ago, I purchased a 35 gallon fish tank from this location. I originally wanted only 2 fish and was planning on spending 50 bucks, but I'm a sucker for a educated salesperson. The employee talked to me about why you need more than two, then about the water amounts needed... before I knew it I was in the hole for 400 bucks. Cut to a year later.. I'm in love with these fish. Just 3 guppies and 2 otos, but I have Everything to keep them happy and healthy..nice big tank all the amenities. All of the additives you name it. One day, one of the guppies died. We were heartbroken. They all have names mind you. SUSIE IS DEAD! We didn't replace her. Yet. A few months passed. I could see that the other guppies looked sad. REALLY. They used to dart around, now they Swam very slowly. (IM GETTING TO THE POINT. I swear.) The kids are really upset because they think the fish are dying, so I got in the car and headed to PetSmart. Surely the employee was still working there....nope. It was different employee. Nice enough person. Told them I needed a guppy and was quick to catch the one I picked out.....however (HERE IS THE TEACHING MOMENT) they scooped up a snail as well. They said "ooh a hitchhiker! " I said "oh no, thanks I'm ok on the snail." They gross me out. They INSISTED that it would be a GREAT addition help clean my tank. Ok. Sure. That snail, smaller than a dime... has destroyed my tank. It has laid egg upon egg and all of my fish have died, save one oto. Within the span of months my beautiful aquarium is garbage. I can't get rid of them. There are THOUSANDS of eggs. I S&@t you not. There are about 20 big snails and thousands of babies at this point. They have broken the filter and destroyed my investment. This is unacceptable. The only thing left to do is trash it. We are DEVASTATED. Some compensation would be great, but we'll see how that goes.

I have used this groomer for my cat twice. The first review was a glowing account of a very nice…read morelady who did a good and thorough job with a skittish cat. I wish I could say the same for the last visit, but, unfortunately, I cannot.I will preface this review with my heartfelt uncomfortable regret for having to post a bad review. It's not my style; it's not something I do often or like to do. It upsets me to my core. That being said and with tears in my eyes, let's proceed. I will admit, it was nearly a month after the grooming that I contacted Alison to complain and ask her to fix it. My query was honest but not mean. The delay in contacting her was due to my being ill, and my not knowing what to say to her without hurting her feelings. Well...I've got to tell you I was shocked and appalled by her highly emotional, negative response which continued on as a barrage of nasty texts without my responding to most of it. What she said to me, how she said it and with vehement attitude was so far from any drop of professionalism or good customer service. She reported to me after both groomings that although my cat was skittish, once she started brushing her she calmed down and was a "total sweetheart", "no problem at all". I was happy with the first bathing, sanitary cut and brushout. The second time she went from wrapped in a towel and ran into the bedroom closet! I paid over $100 for what turned out to be a hack job of a grooming. She cut the center of her lower mane off and it just looks weird now. She was supposed to shave down her underside and butt completely. It's all uneven and looks ratty. The rest of her beautiful silky, shiny coat is now dull and when I brush her there are tons of loose clumps of fur that fly all over the place! Her fur is uneven on both sides, there are places that look chopped and she cut around the base of her tail...for what reason?? Not all of her claws were clipped, either! Looks ridiculous! Every time I look at my Tatum I get upset. I finally had to say something! Then she had the audacity to tell me my cat should be drugged. Not once, several times. I don't think it's the cat that needs to be medicated. For the record I sprayed her towel and her carrier with Feliway 10 minutes before she took her to the van. So, she was "drugged" but in a natural way. How dare she tell me to drug my cat!! She outright refused to do anything at all to Tatum or a partial refund or credit and chose to sever our relationship instead. Is this good business sense? I truly think she knew she had done an awful job and was trying to blame me for her lack of grooming knowledge with cats. The old Shakespeare quote, "Me thinks thou doth protest too much" very much applies here. So, I no longer can recommend this groomer in any capacity. She is not to be trusted as she is emotionally volatile, unprofessional and just not nice. Please do yourself a favor and find another groomer. I did!
