I cannot begin to express my gratitude for Shawn and the entire team at Hillside Canine. We were in…read morea tough spot and had to quickly find a place to board our dog the night before Thanksgiving. Shawn answered and immediately assured us that his staff would standby to take in our pup. As stressed out pet parents after a 7 hour drive, the whole thing was a bit hectic trying to find a safe and reliable boarder on such short notice, but that staff was calming and friendly. Intake was smooth and gave us a lot of relief. After a couple days, we called and asked for an update. To our surprise, they sent a full report card with pictures and videos to reassure us that he was having a great time at daycare. I appreciated the detail and attention they gave our little guy. When we picked him up it was clear that he was very well cared for. Thanks to Anya, Auntie Em, the chill guy who checked us in, and the awesome kennel tech to checked us out. 10/10 would recommend.

We recently visited the Verde Valley, AZ area in order to ride on the Verde Canyon Railroad and…read moreneeded a place to drop off our pup for the afternoon. The staff on the phone were very friendly and clear about their practice and made me feel comfortable right away. When we arrived, we were greeted with friendly staff and our pup, Tucker, immediately seemed at home and relaxed, which of course put me at ease as well, especially since as a rescue he has some separation anxiety. They were great at sending us some updates, including some videos, along the way where I could see that Tucker was enjoying himself along with a couple of other small dogs his size. When we picked him up, he was relaxed and not the least bit anxious but at the same time happy to see us. Overall, a very good experience and we would not hesitate to leave him there again, perhaps even overnight if needed. Highly recommend the Camp Verde location (that's the only one we've visited so far)!

UPDATE in response to the business owners reply: Thanks for responding. I do want to clarify that…read moremy concern wasn't about the grooming itself as much as the lack of follow-up after I reached out twice over the span of six days. I'm still hoping to better understand: -Where the matting was on both dogs and how severe it was -Why such a short shave was chosen without checking first -And to request that I be contacted before any future decisions like that or a sanitary shave I had my two dogs groomed here on March 26 and had a mixed experience, but what's most disappointing is the lack of communication afterward. To start, I understand that my Great Pyrenees had some matting since she's newly adopted, and I do appreciate that the groomer took care of her. However, I was surprised at how short she was shaved and would have really appreciated a call before making that decision. For my Husky, I was told he had "severe matting," which was confusing since he's been consistently groomed for years and has never had that issue. His coat also didn't appear heavily impacted afterward, so I was hoping for clarification on where and how severe the matting was. Additionally, a sanitary shave was done without checking with me first, which I would have preferred to approve beforehand. What's most frustrating is that the owner specifically told me to reach out if anything seemed off and that they would follow up. I sent a detailed message the day after the appointment and a polite follow-up a few days later, and I have yet to receive any response. I value communication and transparency, especially when it comes to decisions about my pets' care. Unfortunately, the lack of response has left me feeling unheard and hesitant to return. I would have preferred to resolve this directly, which is why I messaged twice before posting. I'd still appreciate that clarification.
